The big leagues of Planetary Interaction | EVE Online
Going from basic PI to more advanced stuff can be overwhelming and easy to get wrong which results in minimal profit.
In this video I go over what my current PI char (miss hero) has been up to in her efforts to move into P3 production.
I dont claim to be an absolute expert in this so if you do have any suggestions on how I can improve my current setup then let me know. I have done my best though to get as much PI materials as possible so this should, in theory, give great results :)

I think PI was what made me stick with Eve, but I also manufacture P3 (robotics, surprise, surprise), and had a couple of suggestions: 1) you can avoid the hassle of doing 'expedited transfers at your factory planet by replacing you storage facilities with straight up launch facilities, at lvl5 planetary infrastructure, you can afford that. On my factory planet I run three launch pads (2 for P1 and one for the final P3), and one storage facility to house the intermediary P2 products. 2) Running the math for how much P0 you need to extract to keep a P3 factory world running constantly is really helpful. I do my P3 production in 0.2 lowsec and I've found the sweet spot for P0 production to be 9,000 average units extracted per cycle per day as the sweet spot (I maintenance every other day, so not sure how well this can work in HS, or with longer run times as the launch / storage on-planet becomes an issue with longer runs). Other than those tips, looking good, son! Keep the content rolling!

hay GDPanda. honestly it never dawned on me to have more than one launch pad but I will be installing them soon :P The 9,000 units is a nice number and really helps me not actually have to do the math lol. I will be moving my PI to null or possibly low soon so that number will be obtainable but right now in high sec im rather below an average of 9,000. thanks for your comment matey, really appreciate it :)

Ex-pea-die-ted (expedited) :) not expedition. If you have the upgrade skills for your factory planet you could remove a storage and add 2 more launch pads. Separate the P2 into their required sets of 2. You can add 13157 of each P1 x2 per launch pad. They then feed into the single storage that feeds your P3 processors. Once your P3 is done it is fed into the 3rd launch pad for collection. Does that make sense?

Don't make more links (roads), just upgrade the links themselves and it can "transport" more goods across that highway.

11:00 I was wondering when you would dock up... or waiting for the blow up, lol Glad you made it safely. Also, you don't need to be at the planet to place the command center, you just need to be in space, in the system. Only for the materials do you need to go at the POCO to put stuff in it (or pick up the final products), but once in it you can warp to 0 to the station and do the transfer from the POCO to the planet planet while tethered at the station. All the building part can be done while dock at the station.

There are several Tier 3 items you can make on a single planet. I make t3 on all my planets. I don't have to spend a ton of money moving shit between planets. The only issue you might have is that you have to stay on top of it. With two extractors, I switch weekly from one raw resource to another to keep things rolling. 4 basic industry, one for each of the 4 tier 1 things I need to manufacture, and 3 advanced industry, 2 for the tier 2 that I need and 1 for the final tier 3 production. I go around once a week and pick up the t3 products and change my extractors... that's it. But it saves a lot of money. For example, on lava planets you need to extract 4 raw resources, which each becomes a tier 1 commodity (non cs crystals, felsic magma, heavy metals, base metals). They are then used to produce Chiral Structures, Silicon, Toxic Metals, and Reactive Metals. From there, you can use the Chiral Structures and Silicon to produce t2 Miniature Electronics and Toxic Metals and Reactive Metals to produce t2 Construction Blocks. Then the two t2 items can be used to produce the t3 Smartfab Units. You can do this on several different planets. As long as you have two extractor units on each planets, you are still producing similar amounts of units over time, but only not paying the fees to keep moving product from one planet to another.

as long as you find a decent planet with a lowish tax rate the tax is tiny compared to the end product. Talking less than 5 mil to take the P1 off planet, put on a new planet then remove that p3 back off. Plus side to using only one material per planet is you can find planets with max amount of that material. if your mining say 4 materials on one planet one will be high the rest lower and chances are one will have probably a really low % of the raw material. Mining a good planet for its best material none stop in my experience is more productive than mining its best material for a day or two then its worst (or less than ideal) material for the rest of the week. As long as it works though keep it up :P

@@DisownedHero I assume you do your PI in HS. HS PI is a joke compared to NS or WH. you could do around 10X the amount you get from HS. I use to run around 62 colonies back in my Provi days. Had them going for around 6-7 months til i got burned out. Now I'm down to a modest 32 in a single WH system. Got mine running on a 3-4 day cycle.

Extractor -> storage -> factory is way, way better than extractor -> factory -> storage imo, because it means your extractor can suck stuff out of the ground even if your factories are full

My factory planet has a daily consumption of about 55 M and an output of 70 M. The setup is similar to Yours, with one launchpad and three storage facilities, which is the minimum that gives me 2 days of autonomy. It works smoothly, aside from the problem of actually feeding it. Currently I have shortages of silicon and water (:P), but new help is coming. A couple of things. What happens when the receiving facility has no allowance for the materials coming through a route? Is the transfer paused, and if the source is an industry facility then is it delayed as well, or, worse, are the materials wasted? It seems to me that it is the second case. In any case, I believe that the output should always be directed to a storage or launchpad, never to an industry facility, to avoid either delays or waste, whichever is the case. For PI in HiSec (yeah, I know, BOOH!...) custom code expertise is often a disregarded skill to have, there is a common belief that it would not affect exp/imp taxes if the custom office is player owned (which is practically always), but it is not so: there is both empire and player taxes on this, and the empire one can be halved by the skill.

High sec PI is a joke... With 6 accounts I produce 100k fuelblocks every 4 days. I do all the PI myself, as well as all the ice mining. Also, why have the command center in there and connected? It takes up space and the link uses power. No need. Did you know you can upgrade the links when you click on them? That way they can handle more resources, cheaper then a second link :) I would recommend P2 production on the extraction planets and avoid using storage facilities to maximize power efficiency.

  • @DisownedHero

Ive moved my PI to a rather nice low sec system with high % planets. Making a few bill a month off P3 production over 4 accounts :) I never knew you could upgrade the links, will have to check that as some of my planets will need tweaking if that's the case :P The command center doesn't need to be even near the actual facilities but I like to keep everything together. If I have a tiny bit of powergrid/cpu left over and I cant use it for anything I will hook them together because why not lol :P

You have to travel to the customs office in a ship to place into your ship so yes there is that. Also each of this customs offices have players who run them best ask if you can make a great deal on them. But if you undock you are always gonna have a risk of being killed.

@@kgthegman Good question. I'm sure there are some out there. But overall, Eve Online does not have 'good videos'. Most of them are improvised long winded rants filled with sayings like "this is what I do, maybe your mileage will vary". Is what it is, learn the best you can, and when you figure it out well for yourself, chances are you will come up with a process that is better then some video that you seen. But then that becomes your Advantage that most don't want to share to anyone. And that's what makes Eve great. Take the basic Guides on things, and figure out something better and its your benefit to behold. I for one don't wish to share my set up cause the way I have mine, if others were to do it, it would effect my bottom line. Nope! lol
