The Bidding (Tally Hall Cover w/ Lyrics)
Музыка
yes, i know this one is a day late. tough titty, kid, that's what it's like to be an adult with a hobby.
again though, i am quite proud of this one in the video department, i hope that shows.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LYRICS:
- all (most) lyrics have been changed from the original -
- concurrent lyrics indicated by () parentheses and [] square brackets -
I've been sleeping in a cardboard box,
spending every dollar on a losing lot.
And even though I know it isn't worth much stock,
you know it's better to have tried than not.
Can you tell me who you're trying to fool?
I can't seem to find the point you're trying to make.
And if you think that you can lie to me,
then I think you've made a big mistake.
Going once. Going twice.
Every madman has his vice.
Some have lust. Some have greed.
Some have intra-psychosocial envy.
We've been here like a thousand times;
circled all around this dreadful carousel.
You say that you're so cognizant
of all the patterned lies that you try not to tell.
And yet you still continue putting in your dimes
and continue this revolving hell.
And here he is: the piece of shit
sitting, seething high atop his stolen throne.
Glass is the house of the hypocrite,
and yet you still continue arming stones.
Going once. Going twice.
Let me lend you some advice.
Time is short, life even more.
Yet you wage this silly war.
Going twice. Going thrice.
Guess this means we'll tie the rope today.
See, I've been in total agony, relentlessly,
ever since you came around.
You came around.
[You claim to relish entropy, but I see]
(Stuck, deteriorating helplessly, endlessly.)
[the order which you beg to hold you down to the ground.]
(The 'Ruler' of our Soul, left never crowned, forever bound.)
Your [silence] (violence) deafens more than any sound.
Oh my god. Holy shit.
We were there. That was it.
Did you see harmony,
if only temporarily?
The halves I reviled.
An attempt to concile.
One more time, go again.
No, this can't be the end.
It was mean. It was vile.
Like a freak. Like a child.
But for once, Heart and Mind
had finally combined.
I believe. I concede.
You can finally enweave.
If not for you or for him
then please do it for me.
'Cos I don't know how much more I can take.
This creeping, seeping, sickly, sweeping,
heinous heartache. [headache.]
So please, won't you just attempt to be free.
'Cos I think I can finally be me.
We've been here like a thousand times,
fighting the other hemisphere.
But maybe if we reasoned our rhymes
this dissonance could disappear.

(Quick word of warning, for those keeping track: the next video will be released three (3) weeks after this one, as opposed to the usual two (2). Essentially, I've learned pretty well over time when I'm on the precipice of getting burnt out, and it's a'comin'. So for this song at least, I want to take a little more time to chill out a little. Anyway, here's your little poem.) Throughout our civilised history, mankind has solved so many mysteries. Yet still the questions multiply and grow. This world that lacks consistency makes the answers in the distance seem to taunt us in every step that we toe. Some have peered through the mist and seen the unyielding persistency which our Heart, Mind and Soul seem to feel owed. But in all our civilised history, just one thing remains amiss to me... ...why *_did_* the chicken cross the road? 5

I suppose yes and no. It could also fall under “parody,” at least in the weird Al style. Still, although I’m a fan of plunderphonics, I really do love when artists credit the originators of a melody. For example Cold Heart being credited to Elton John in addition to Dua Lipa and P-NAU, since he made all the individual components of it. (Edit one month later: I think “pastiche” would probably be most apt.)

“We’ve been here like a thousand times. Fighting the other hemisphere” makes so much sense after Time Machine reprise. It doesn’t just seem to talk about the fight over the whole album, but how it keeps repeating. They make up and then another argument is blown out of proportion and “splits what once was whole down into three” and based on the songs, it seems all 3 of them blame each other. Then they realize they’re all at fault just to split up again over another argument. Hopefully volume 2 ends their squabbling, hopefully

However, based on ruler of everything and mucka blucka, it seems heart definitely started it this time. He tried to kill mind “he shot at his Wiley one only friend. Now listen to this, he shot and he missed”. However, that leads to a question. Is it always heart who starts it? Based on the album repeating and being the same story over and over, it seems so. But I think that’s just the downside of having set songs that can’t change each time you listen. The repeat ability definitely leads to this not being the first time, but I feel that it’s implied that heart isn’t always at fault. Maybe volume 2 will show an end to this cycle, or maybe the beginning. I’m leaning more towards the l beginning, but it could honestly be both. Volume 2 could have intro to calamity and outro from concord. That’d be pretty cool
Jesus, the Mind Electric sample at the end gave me chills. I can't even begin to count the amount of times this impressed me in three and a half short minutes

@@Real_C my theories on the songs remaining are, in no particular order unless otherwise mentioned (and this follows the TME countdown theory): 1. taken for a ride - duh, the last Marvin's song, it's bound to be done so he can get all of Marvin's. 2. turn the lights off - it's a bit of a left turn, sure, but this song fits the duality themes and the black and white idea 3. & - just like before, fits the duality theme that a lot of these songs have 4. murders - okay, this is less supported, and more of just a "I'd like to see it" thing, but i feel like if this was to be done it would be much more in the vein of the 2009 G&E demo 5. the mind electric - this one's an obvious one. also it's probably the finale, if not, maybe taken for a ride. i feel like a TME cover would include Demo 4 and possibly a bunch of callbacks to other songs not covered other songs that i could see being covered/having parts in other covers are: dream, mucka blucka, cannibal (maybe a Shia Labeouf live part in cannibal?), time machine, labyrinth, dream sweet
the carousel part gives me shivers, eerie circus themes always get me.
When the hero of a musical realizes he was in the wrong the whole time and a dark version of the opening song is sung Here’s my idea for how that musical will go starting with the first 2 thirds of the original bidding ending before the I’ll promise I’ll be all you need: ok so the main character who I’m just going to call Henry starts off the story as a homeless drunk who wants a better life for himself but lacks the actual knowledge of business to do it properly but he is very talented in charisma so he first becomes a gold digger dating and breaking up with women in order to give money for himself but he justifies this because he thinks of himself as an underdog just doing what he needs to survive so after he gets a decent amount of money he starts to become a scam artist using his charisma to make people think he is a legitimate salesman then he meets a widowed queen from a far away land who he after getting rich off of scamming prior victims he is able to convince the queen he would be a good husband and ends up becoming the king Now onto this cover:so you know how Henry used to justify scamming people because he viewed himself as an underdog evil but that he’s became the king he thinks since he now deserves to reep the benefits from this at the expense of others which caused him to become a very selfish and arrogant king eventually causing him to invade neighboring countries for his own benefit and then the peasants become fed up with other him and organize a revolution while singing this song Henry midway threw the revolution réalises he’s been selfish eventually ends up stepping down from the role of king and a democracy is established then he and his wife go into hiding Henry sings the ending of the original bidding and they live a humble life on a farm

okay. I follow like. A couple people who listen to chonny jash on tumblr. And I keep saying to myself. No. You will not be jashed. You are not interested in this music. Go outside. And yet here I am. Goes hard af. I feel like I’ve just been recruited to a cult.

ooh interesting, I like the narrative you tell (also, as an aromantic, I enjoy the decoupling of the song and its romantic connotations)
Am I the only one who thinks this guys covers are better than tally hall
Yoo, Chonny ⅓ face reveal? Also, "Every madman has his vice" is just an awesome line.
I found this song a few hours ago I’m currently making an animatic using it I’ve never made an animatic before
no fucking WAY, this broke 1 million views?! and it's the first one on CJ's channel to do so?! this song is one of my favorites, but i didn't expect this to be the one to do it! i wonder why?

this isn't just a cover, this is a whole different song that just so happens to have the same rhythm
tbh it’s super cool that he makes his own lyrics even though it’s a cover i’ve wanted to do something like that
I’d like to give a shoutout to Chonny Jash, Tally Hall, and Miracle Musical for being the only things getting me through studying for midterms right now

Okay. Intra-psychosocial is the inner mind of an individual. It is the psyche, the mind, and personality of a person. Intra-psychosocial ENVY is basically just jealousy? From what I could gather at least. That's why he said "Sometimes lust, sometimes greed, sometimes Intra-psychosocial envy" so yeah, I'm gonna assume it means jealousy of the mind.

@@cat_supernova2242 i realize that now. I made this comment when I first found chonny jash and thought that this song was a message to tally hall and that they had some sort of beef(?) I thought this at the time because the song seemed very derogatory and I wasn’t aware of the internal conflict plot of the song.
Finally a new thing to listen to 1000 times and then eventually get sick of, good job 👏

For some reason, I always picture this song in my head as a fight between me and someone I used to call an acquaintance. I shouldn’t though. Everyone that was their friend ditched and hopefully forgotten them for what they did to everyone in her friend group, but I still use this song to hold onto them. Is that a bad thing?

2:02 THIS PART IS SO UNDERRATED-
"Can you tell me who you're trying to fool? I cant seem to find the point you're trying to make. If you think that you can lie to me, then I think you've made a big mistake" My favriote part 100%
You've really outdone yourself with this cover!! I've been listening to your previous covers and your original songs on repeat so seeing this is such a treat to see how far you've come! Amazing job!!
This might be the best cover I've ever heard. Listening to it, I almost felt the same as when I heard the original song for the first time. It's hard for me to enjoy a song a lot because I get very easily disgusted by it. So I'll listen to it 50 times the same day and then the next day I can't hear a single note. But for this cover, this is incredible, because I don't feel bored even if I listened to the original many many times, and I don't feel like listening to something "less good" neither (which I often get the feeling of, when listening to covers) It's just perfect
this isn't even the bidding anymore and i love it
1:24 my fav part (I'm leaving this comment here that way I can skip to my favorite part)
wait i just realized that at 2:55 when soul sings "cuz i think i can finally be me", the red lips (red is soul's color) turn to lips with no color. from what ive seen in the other videos, their whole self (or chonny as a whole) doesnt have any lipstick on, so soul is wanting to finally be himself as a whole with the other two

Holy cow it's not a cover it's a tribute to the spirit of tally hall
I envy the day I get to hear a Chonny Jash cover of "Taken for a Ride." We all know it will be amazing, but know that rushing it would never be an option for perfection. I really feel it would be a special cover. We all know how, but would struggle to describe it.
