Even as someone who doesn't believe in ghost I would also easily lose my shit. In those situations, where you're alone, in the dark, and there's noise coming from the next room, I might not think it's a ghost but my mind is definitely jumping to psycho whose going to attack and/or kill me.

This seems like a fascinating study in power of suggestion. The celebs were told these fictional hauntings were real, so they made them real in their minds. Like that old urban legend of the guy that locked himself in a freezer and was so terrified he was freezing to death, he did... even though the freezer was unplugged.

God knows why _CPP_ lists Gottfried's _SNL_ castmember stint in his bio. It comes up fairly often in media for all he DID on the show, but going from "promising unknown talent" to "visibly not giving a shit" in twelve episodes is good grounding for a paranormal show.

R.I.P Gilbert Gottfried You were definitely a highlight of this forgotten early 2000s supernatural ghost hunting show.

I miss 2000s VH1. It was nonstop nonsense, but it was my kind of nonsense!

Oh this is one of those shows where "celebrity" means you were a contestant on Jeopardy or American Idol

I'll never forget the episode of Fear where the contestant was terrified because they got shut in a room full of crickets.

I've heard some great stories about Ernie Hudson at conventions. Apparently he's just as cool as he sounds here. And I love that he's being like the smart character in a horror movie for this nonsense ghost show XD I really rooted for him to make it all the way to the end of Leviathan (1989), and it's cool to see the actor has the right instincts to survive a horror movie IRL.

A supernatural show with Baywatch characters...so basically the second season of Baywatch Nights.

Of COURSE you're gonna have a wacky time in a haunted house if you bring Gary Busey! It ain't because of the ghosts!

As far as ghost shows go, I prefer the re-enactment type, like A Haunting.

This, defs. Hunting shows are all about people wandering around dirty places and being scared by sounds. Re-enactments usually have solid stories, stuff happening, and conclusions to what we're seeing.

Awesome video! My absolute favorite ghost show (ie the only one I can watch) is Paranormal State. A bunch fake college students (most had graduated at the time of production) scaring themselves in the dark, with an aspiring actor "psychic" to interpret what the ghosts are saying, and for some reason they keep finding demons every other episode. Very entertaining.

I have not heard anything about or thought of Hal Sparks in literally 15 or so years. Wow.

Gary Busey is the only thing on this show that is really scary. I would be afraid that he would go nuts (more than he already did) and chop me up with an Axe!

I know its probably nostalgia, but I have been rewatching some 90's paranormal show and I always feel they were a lot more effective at sucking you in than more recent show. It is a lost art.

Ghost hunting documentaries walking around in the dark with night vision goggles reacting to every groaning noise and kriek in these very old buildings that they film in. Too bad none of these shows never play in the background Geto Boys My Mind Playing Tricks on Me.

I remember that one, too! I think it was a later episode of Ghost Hunters. He had no fear of spiders that were all over, as I recall.

Gilbert Gottfried was a comic genius of genuinely indescribable proportions. I mean, seriously, ask any pro comic over the last 20 years to name their personal favs, and you probably get Gilbert, and Bob Saget. Ain't that neat. And yeah, Gary Busey is legit insane, and always has been. He's also seriously entertaining. Both these things are true.

I enjoyed it for what it was. These ghost hunting shows used to be a guilty pleasure of mine, but they really got out of hand to the point even I couldn't suspend disbelief for them (and I believe in ghosts!). My current favorite one has the psychic and the retired cop, every episode they get someone to draw a picture of the spirit(s) and they always make me laugh. It's like the best part of the show.

I don't believe in ghosts now whatsoever, but as a child I was terrified of them. I blame Unsolved Mysteries for that. Now in my early 40s, I can pooh-pooh it all I want, but put me in the dark and play spooky shit and I'll still probably scream my ass off. Best of both worlds.
