So here's what blows my mind about this game I've played both of the original army men games on N64. Vicky was like a trained soldier. In the sequel there was at least a few missions where you played as just her. Guns and everything. So why is her dedicated spin off game... THIS?

@@AmericanDivaa Colonel's daughter. She's dating the Sargeant lol But yeah. She's apparently a war reporter in Sarge's Heroes 2, but you still play as her in multiple missions and she controls pretty much exactly the same as Sarge himself.

I'm still mad that Sarge's War ended the way it did.

This game has serious "game you play at your friends house once but somehow never forget" energy

i feel like this geuninely isn't as bad as it could be, but the elements that are bad are so genuinely baffling it's a wonder this game got made at all

I need more one-off random game streams from Shen and co. Watched part of this live, it was such a chaotic and fun time.

Rayman games are somewhat like that as well (only ever played Rayman 3 and Raving Rabbids, with a STRONG preference for the latter). And then there's this upscaled PS1 product...

What's funny is that I looked this game up and in its wiki it said that the president of 3DO, the publisher of this game, wrote an angry letter threatening to cut back on advertising for a gaming magazine they were supporting because a reveiwer gave this game a low score and said it looked like a PS1 game.

I don't know why... but the fact that this is what Shen grew up playing somehow explains a lot about how she plays games...

I used to play the Army Men games like Air Attack, Sarge's Heroes, and the RTS so this is a quick trip down memory lane for me.

I’d be down if you have more old random ass games to play from your childhood because revisiting old games like that are always fun. Also I collect weird old random ass PS2 games, so that’d help me find games to add to the shelf

I had to check the release date for myself cause I couldn't believe it... that is indeed very unfortunate.

Wait a second Sarge? As in the Sarge from the Army Man Games? Portal Runner is related to that obscure series? Well then again I saw 3DO on the title screen so that explains it.

You know what? I kinda unironically love it. It's that very special blend of early 2000s cheese that knows damn well that's what it is, but instead of being ashamed or self-deprecating like you'd see nowadays it owns it and commits to the bit as hard as it can because it's fun.

So this game was being hyped up before the PS2's release and in all the previews the screenshots looked AMAZING...because they were all CG rendered mock ups. I was legit hyped for this game...and then I saw what it actually looked like and was like "WTF HAPPENED?!". That said I still love the concept of some kind of deranged lovechild of a Barbie and a green Army Man being a character.

When I was a kid we’d go visit one of my cousin’s families and he’d have this game. We’d just take turns playing this for hours while the grown-ups hung out.

This game was one I saw my friend play so much as a kid, and I knew nothing about it for the proceeding ~20 years until I happened upon the name a few months ago, then you have to go and do THIS to me? This game is so much worse than I remember I love it so much.

A month or so ago I was at a friend's house and she was talking about this game, ordered it online and next time I was there, it was delivered. She played it years ago. We kept trying to shoot the birds in the earlier stage haha It's super wild seeing YOU play it!

It's kind of messed up how almost light hearted this game seems to be, cause I think the next Army Men game after this was Sarge's War which went full grim-dark as like every character Sarge knows including Vicki die at the very start.

These types of PS2 games are great because they somehow give me nostalgia even though I have never played this game

It's so bizarre looking at this game, I thought the Army men looked familiar... I always saw them in trailers in the Extras menu of Warjetz! My dad actually worked for 3DO Entertainment for a bit, so I got to see his name in the credits of Warjetz, which was pretty neat. Until you realize that 3DO tried to flee the state without giving their employees their final paycheck, but I mean whatever, right?
