@@SuspiciousTemmie My opinion is not. One shot paint is a massive advantage in zone mode, especially in ownership fights (that nobody could kill anybody else but all could paint the zone). Even shooters paint faster, the pace is still different. This is more obvious in higher level games. I came from main roller user in 2, and in 3 I ditched it for shooters, mainly due to output and consistency. However, in zone I still use it sometimes because of how much an advantage it has. Also zone is very advantageous towards sharking, which many rollers do well.

The weapon has only seen buffs for a long time now and it's finally paying off. Cheap curling and bubble shield just feels amazing with it. Seriously try and approach this mfer in a bubble.

Honestly, I really like the meta right now. If cooler gets a nerf, then I think the meta will be perfectly balanced, as high and top tiers have a lot of variety.

​@@jakethedog1483 Except unlike in 1 it's not everybody that's always doing that. If you lose cooler timing against the other team and start getting overwhelmed at some point you just have to shrug and accept every one of your splats are completely worthless.

I am so glad VTent is as high as it is - the kit is a sort of 'supportive powerhouse' that I really have not played in any game before. Us few tent players have been having it good these last few seasons, especially when compared to the start of the game, it's such a unique and cool weapon.

If third kits happen, I pray we get Crab Tank! Tent is a tanky weapon, so it makes sense for it to get a literal tank! (And also please no Splash Wall. It didn't work in S2, it won't work now)

@@vegetables1593 Honestly I think chumps would be super fun - being able to shield launch and then pop chumps in front of you to fight in chumps + tent shield. The ink refill would also help lots because of tent's ink consumption. Probably would go for the n-zap 89 kit with auto + chumps, a lethal, cheap bomb with location would be helpful, and could add even more chaos to the mix. But yeah crab tank would def be neat, the tent shield would allow you to use crab in more aggressive spots too

man I got so excited hearing "Genesis X will have a salmon run tournament" only to find ZERO VODS ANYWHERE

The coordinated team setting really makes the horizontal VRoller flick a more reliable horizontal flick to combo with the other members Because holy crap even one pixel off will make you deal 99.9 damage and you're probably already splatted by your target before you get the next flick going

not a terrible meta. It does suck that a single special defines the top tier, but I think it's much better than a single weapon defining it instead, (especially when you consider that the tier below x is defined by the main entry specials, which are all pretty much equally balanced)

It’s also good that special is a team based buff special as well, as opposed to say ink armor or an offensive special like crab. Personally I’d change cooler to buff stats that help you fight over instant respawn and special saver. So maybe a big stack of in recovery, main and sub saver and maybe max intensify and swim speed or something. But as is it’s pretty good while not being a kill switch or panic special.

You are likely thinking of Eidori for rollers but there are several threatening rollers in Japan whose names I cant remember. Anyways they can make roller work in *TURF WAR* which says enough about how cracked they are IMO I can see Hedit moving up to X if pencil gets nerfed btw. We'll see how it goes though

How do they make roller work in turf war? In other words, what does the roller do all game? I know roller can paint the spawn very well, which based on what I've seen is a big thing in competitive turf war, but apart from that does it just go for kills?

@@preyingshark4878 Yeah ik that makes sense, I thought the whole time that the roller wouldn't be painting because it was slow, but I said what I said only because I know how it was supposedly important to paint your spawn perfectly. Also killing ppl makes perfect sense since ppl are significantly more predictable in turf war; you always know what they're trying to do

Unfortunately I don't think roller is going to go anywhere, as usual. I feel like the weapon's always been in a spot where it has to be pushed in order to be good, and it's very hard to be consistent with that way. The fact that there's a person who placed good in the tourneys is nice, but who knows if that's how it will be the next time. But as always, I hope that I'm wrong and I wish the best of luck for all top rollers, and never give up!

Chara, thank you for sharing that Genesis is happening soon! I’ve been meaning to visit an in-person tournament at least once in my life and the location is very convenient for me! I’m probably gonna ask my friends too if any of them want to check out the scene as well!

2 things that suprised me: 1. That Chara put V splat roller in S. He said himself that roller only works with bubble but that was interesting. 2. That pencil went from one of the worst to one of the best weapons in the meta.

Always my favorite video out of the tier series and the tier series is one of my favorite videos so can’t wait for the next one

I like watching videos of games ive never played before, and this is cool because i cant even begin to grasp what in gods good green earth is going on, but its cool, none-the-less.

reason why roller is top tier: one cracked guy in jp one tricks it and GETS RESULTS srs pls stop ranking things based on results in tournaments alone

That one person has made me want to play v-roller. It just looks fun.

Vroller is one of the most fun weapons to play casually, and I can say that proudly as a vroller main. Although at the same time bubbler is one of the most frustrating specials in the game to use, so brace yourself!

I'm just glad heavy edit is considered a high tier. It became my main when it was released. And while the long charge is annoying sometimes, the other attributes make it so fun.

Hearing how good a weapon is and still having a sufficient list of howevers or counters feels so good. Great strengths with few but exploitable weaknesses, this is a very nice meta.

As a Range Blaster main, I find it difficult to comprehend the weapon being higher than S-BLAST when S-BLAST literally has better stats in every area but blast radius (no, seriously, I've checked, EVERY STAT but blast radius in long-range mode is better) and a better kit.

Yea but long range on s-blast is extremely hard in fast paced environments meaning that range blaster is a much better midrange fighter

Theres SO LITTLE EXPERIENCE playing against a roller that people don't know how to counter it, and since 1 person is taking advantage of that suddenly its """top tier.""" Here's a tip to fight us: ink the stage a little more thoroughly. Instead of grazing over a bit and saying "yeah thats good enough," ink it some more. It shuts us down like a mountain sprouted in the middle of the stage. Our weapon sucks ass and yall should know that lmao

JP plays Zones only in comp scene mostly and theres been a recent debate as to if the west should also be zones only. Chara supports the latter.

Theoretically yeah, but in practice zones tends to have the healthiest/most diverse meta - other modes tend to over-centralize the weapon pool (like AoE for tower as an example). There us nore nuance, but that's the gist of it.

I just recently started playing splatoon 3 and I AM LOVING IT! Although i am struggling with motion controls (and most likely will never use them again) I'm having a way better time with Splatoon than i have with any other shooter i've played before.

I think some of the more surprising top tiers like vRoller and vTent are a testament to how important kit synergy can be. Take the former for example. In a vacuum, curling and bubbler aren’t the most powerful weapons and a kit with them would probably be awful for a weapon like Splattershot, for example. However, since the sub and special have such good synergy with roller, with curling being a great mobility option with potential for mix-ups and roller being able to easily splat anyone who enters its bubbler, the three parts of the kit elevate each other to heights they each could never reach on their own.

Dam, your really good at that chainsaw. I-i mean stamper 😁

Finally people it's giving some attention to dualies, those were always a great option since the start of the game, but people were so concerned about the meta weapon that no one cared about dualies, not even when they got buffed and it was a really great buff, no one bothered to play and learn the weapon. I'm happy to main them since Splatoon 2 and being able to do stuff that people usually never does

super glad tent has made it to the top, it still has issues (being one shot by zooka in a zooka meta) but it is actually a good option now!

As a wiper main since the premiere I think weapon is great overall with its mobility and combo with torpedo, but stamp is still mediocre. It’s not bad by any means but im still waiting for the buff that makes stamp good ( again I’m not saying it’s horrible).

When tacticooler first came out everyone was so hype for it as then it immediately fell off and no one played it becuase it was only double splash/double machine comps. But I, an Nzap main, bided my time. Then trislosher nouveau came out and I became a tri main. And still I bided my time. As a tacticooler believer from day one, finally my time has come and my fab special is X tier. And not only that, my main weapon trislosher nouveau is also finally in its rightful place in X tier. And now, everyone understand the power of the tacticooler gremlin trislosher mains. Tri nouveau is love, tri nouveau is life.

This is the best S and X ranks have looked in a long time. All we can hope for is more buffs for low tiers. Maybe some small tweaks to squeezer.

I really dont think hedit having a "long charge time" is an issue, its got the second most efficient charge in the game (as in firing duration to charge time ratio) and both its charge rings are the same, past the first ring to get max range, you arent obligated to fully charge unless you need the high firerate ahich has its own disadvantages.

I am glad to see my aoe weapons at the top like range, tri, machine and, rapid deco and the only weapon I play that is not up there is 91.

L-3 Nozzlenose with high amounts of Run Speed Up gets Crab Tank almost twice as fast as Neo Splatana Stamper. While it has less range than Stamper's charged slash and a similarly less useful Sub Weapon, L-3 Nozzlenose paints about 25 % further than it deals damage (about the same damage range as Splattershot Pro) and since it's arguably still a mid-range Main Weapon, it outpaints almost every weapon on any map and in any mode.

The Japanese roller guy is called Eidori.

Nautilus or dread with crab would go unbelievably hard

Even though the big swigs are in the bottom tier i think their vertical flick is insane, it’s long ranged, fast, and almost always a 2 shot

i hope all the weapons can some day even out into where the current high b to low s tier is 😢

What this list has taught me is that I’m not an idiot and Squiffer actually is held back by its kit, and any other special is better, so my skill won’t go to waste when we finally get the Burst Bomb kit it deserves. Trizooka, Inkjet or Zipcaster even though I hate them, heck even Tacticooler if it’s low enough. Just something with Burst Bomb please

Edit higher than Nautilus?! I know Edit has a better special, but Naut still has better range and mobility, which are two stats that normally contradict each other.

Maybe a shooter like vsplash cus it's got pretty decent ink efficiency, no rng and good paint and can reliably pump out crabs one after the other Another wep would've been pre nerf stamper because it's ink efficiency paired with 40% burst (instead of current day 45%) allowed it to run rampant and use whatever gear sets it wanted

I'd say both Splatana Wiper variants. Run Speed Up won't speed them up (since it has no effect at all on this Main Weapon) because the Main Weapon already has a high Strafing Speed build-in. It's also ink efficient. High amounts of Sub Power Up is very useful on Splatana Wiper Deco though since the Super Jump duration of any teammate or yourself that jumps to your Squid Beakons is reduced by even more than if your or your teammates equipped the same amount of Quick Super Jump (e.g. 18 AP of Sub Power Up is equivalent to 25 AP of Quick Super Jump, or 34 AP of Sub Power Up is equivalent to 41 AP of Quick Super Jump)! You're teammates will appreciate that.
