Another important thing that isnt mentioned is how amazing it pairs with sooo many boons and upgrades, especially since the shield throw is a constant source of proc for them. Pair with the charge shot upgrade and just camp 'till victory lol

@@bowtiejuddYT you can play it fast- i do, the corner camping strat is just the cheap way out of fights. i often get the double slash upgrade and use the throw for area denial while staying close and swinging at anything i dash towards

I preferred the hidden aspect to so I could load Aphrodite casts or Dionysus cast without worrying about range/lobing

My weapon of choice in the first game was always Demeter Aspect Gauntlets. Something about the extra hits on the Special combined with an Artemis boon for crit potential just kinda spoke to me.

Ok but Chaos aspect absolutely _shreds_, is also very safe, and has the added effect of Chaos itself occasionally saying something such as "Ruination", "Entropy", or even actually just laughing when you deal a large amount of damage in a short amount of time.

Yes! Kiting with Aspect of Zeus is easy mode!

Something to note is it’s strengths only make it best in very high heat runs. It’s not the best weapon in all cases. For example aspect of Eris significantly outdamages it.

I certainly wish that was the case for Theseus. Man is his shield annoying, specially since his character model is so small compared to the chaos going on around him, so it’s hard to tell which way he’s facing.

The blitz disc mechanic is just so fun. It fundamentally changes the way the shield works in a way that is different but not as completely different as the hidden aspects of the weapons. I dont think ive used aspect of Chaos a single time and Ive only used Beowulf once to get the prophecy done. Ive done like up to 4 heat with the aspect of zeus though

I always preferred the Aspect of Chaos. If you get a couple good special attack boons, it gets goofy fast. Also I like chaos. They're pretty.

my favorite is Hunting Blades Hera Aspect. It’s useless, i know, but being able to shoot my beyblades is so satisfying

Nah, when combined with the Ares boon that makes the blades more deadly, Hunting blades slices through everything.

the spear (with flurry jab upgrade) , is the best weapon in term of Damage per second, damage buffs, hitstun, and curses per seconds on opponents. The shield is not the best weapon it just has the "no damage" effect. But nice explanation video on why 64 heat players use the shield and nothing else 👍

Hades have very balanced weapons, you cant say theres a meta weapon, all of them are too unique

What about the fact that the aspect of Zeus’ special is the best combo tool in the game. Unlike other weapons and aspects the hit stun from can extend normal combos into an extended ass whoopings. My favorite thing to do is play throw it out and recall it and try to avoid picking it up so there’s just a AOE damage ability following me

I also love doing that, I get a dash boon that does damage on top of it to run past enemies and start the damage until I turn back around and go for the backstab bull rush

Its also important that its a constant multi hit, and the hits are doubled when using zeus special, meaning it shreds through rooms where armored enemies keep giving each other blue hearts, something a weapon is basically required to do at high heat, and it does this while being able to move, attack and/or block

I love how any weapon/aspect in this game can be fun and viable. I rarely see people talk about the bow which has always been my favorite. Recently hopped on the chiron aspect, get dionysis, demeter or artemis on special and get concentrated volley. That shit SLAPS

Yeah I'll still go with chaos.

Iirc aspect of Beowulf is much preferred for Any Heat speedrunners, mainly bc of its ability to load casts into the bullrush

it's even better with artemis boon to add an arrow for each hit

With the Zeus boon its broken cause high base damage and what you need is so small

Plus since physical attacks destroy projectiles, you have a second shield for free that can move independently of you. Was my fav shield and still is to this day

This Aspect got some really good buffs since the beginning of early access, it was so garbage before. That one change with the Special was what made it the most practical weapon in the game now.

When the game first released, there was a hammer effect called Fast Flight, that made the shield throw only hit one enemy before returning but it was 50% faster, Pick that, any boon that made your special deal more damage, and you were set for the rest of the run, Last time I used it was in 2019 or something like that, then they removed it. I'll never forget it. 😢

I once had a duo boon ares and athena So basically apply vengeance with zeus shield's technique and activate it instantly with ur attack (duo boon) Eats life bars

Not only that but it just has really good damage output. If instead of blocking you instead control the direction of the special while also getting a few hits in, it’s really easy to dodge attacks and get the 40% damage buff for having 2 effects inflicted (if you have the right boons) while maximizing damage output.

That seems like a wapon I haven't really considered using that much. I mostly used the metal fists with the aspect of thalos if I am not wrong which also stuns enemies when using the heavy attack and the main thing is just dodge a lot and just not stop attacking. I find it very fun, but you made me consider trying the shield more than I did before. I also love the spear, the spear is also an amazing weapon in this game.

Many different games have similar weapons to this weapon, so it's good to know the options in different games and what makes them good. (Hi, it's me, a player who never played Hades on the Hades comment section)

I find the shields kinda hard to play with- my go to shield is actually the aspect of Chaos and my go to weapon that I’ve done the highest heat runs with is the sword with the aspect of Arthur. I usually use Athena’s boon to deflect with attack (really good for the mages) and it’s always a good day when I can get an Artemis build

I totally agree but I gotta say, the spear in aspect of achillies is a close second. The rage rush feature is a massive buff to mobility, and with the furry jab and extending jab daedalus enchantments as well as the swift strike boon from Hermes, it becomes an unstoppable Jack hammer that can hit enemies half the battle field away. Add in Dionysus’s drunken strike, Poseidons tidal dash with razor shoals and demeters frost flourish with killing freeze and you’ve got THREE forms of passive damage that just absolutely chew through boss health even if you aren’t simultaneously attacking. Beat the game on 32 heat with that combo and got that sweet third statue from skelly to boot.

i think it's perfect that the best build is the king of the gods shield with the kings boons.

Aspect of Beowulf goes brrr babyyyy, but this is a close 2nd for me

The combos me and mfs be pulling with the aspect of zeus. We be bullrushing the enemy into spinning shield and pummeling them to death

This build also lets you differ from the bog standard Zeus Attack build many people have grown accustomed to and instead lets you play the exotic Zeus Special build instead (also with Zeus Attack, probably)

then it GOES FURTHER.. if you pick Ares boons for attack and special You'd be able to CONSTANTLY apply doom by releasing your special then you attack(applying doom again) and defend back if needed. You can also go for a hammer and pick the one that makes your shield dash charge faster and you can basically keep zooming around applying doom to multiple enemies in a second.

To be entirely honest, even if you COULDN'T attack while the Zeus shield was on the move, it would be pretty strong. At max level it deals 30 base damage per hit, and it attacks pretty quickly and with a decent AoE. Even without a boon that's enough damage to kill most enemies in Tartarus (meaning the beginning of your run will probably be pretty easy even if you get hella unlucky), and when paired with a Zeus special boon + some secondary boons (Zeus has some really good secondary boons) it deals tons of damage.

but,,, fists,,, i just go in and button mash until something dies :)

About 35 runs in on hellmode first play through, fought against hades with aspect of Zeus and had no clue that it blocks attacks when you hold down attack

That's why it made me win my first ever Hades Run two days Ago !! When i bought it, i was like : "yeah, it's just a Shield i can do better with a Spear" Turns out, i never been that good with this shield. Changed my mind Althought i still have a sweet spot for Hades Style Spear

Zeus shield carried my run, since the special attack is so good, you can keave the shield and once it starts getting to you you can just run away from the shield and itll follow you, extending the damage youre doing by running into enemies while your shield is following you, very nice

I don't think I've ever actually used the shield lmao. I do either the machine gun thingy or choose the bow, get a few special power ups and then blast the bosses up close and personal.

The aspect of Zeus is also one of the few reasons that 64 heat was possible

I know it aint optimal, but i just use exagryph cause 1. Gun, and 2. Hazard bomb give big number

That's honestly sounds more like a skill issue if you ask me... There's definitely a higher DPS output potential that lies in other weapons with more risk but you are kinda forced into it with one of heat requirements putting you on timer.

This was the first weapon that i unlocked and i didn’t even know it was meta, i guess i got lucky 😅

The gun is overpowered as fuck too

Just a note, aspect of zeus is not the best aspect in the game and "pro players" do use a lot of different weapons. That being said, aspect of zeus is one of the strongest aspects, especially for high heat runs. Most notably it was the first and only weapon so far used to beat max heat

Pro players also use Hera, Beowulf, Eris, and others situationally. Though Zeus is the only one that can touch max Heat. Beowulf and Eris are best for reliable speed-runnibg. I have sub-10 min with 3 aspects and 40 Heat with Beowulf, but i also have multiple 32 heat runs, and multiple 20 Heat Perfect Clears (no damage vs final boss) with Zeus

Funny enough I actually found my fastest runs are with Aspect of Zagreus fists with the Lambent Plume keepsake just cause I try to blitz through rooms as fast as I can to maximize my use of the keepsake and being able to dodge so often means I can ignore risks and stay laying on damage even in high heat runs. Aspect of Arthur Stygius is my favorite "for fun" weapon tho lol

Aspect of Arthur + cursed slash (2 hp per hit but lose 60%totalhp) just tank everything

You can also just spam dash and attack. It's incredible deadly.

I beat 32 heat with this. If you are stuck, definitely give it a try.

Zeus shield isnt the best weapon in the game, it just requires the least amount of boons from gods / hammers to actually be good enough to kill hades at anything above 60 heat, hope this helps.

Aspect of Beowulf is just better not that I use shields a whole lot I prefer aspect of Eris of any of the fists 😅

isn't this just untrue, and the Beowulf aspect outclasses it and most other shields? Not hating or anything, but I was very surprised to see something other than Beo in the "best" weapon list! I do get it if you particularly feel affinity towards it though.

I highly recommend using the excalibur aspect, the raw damage is high enough to kill most enemies in 1 hit, has pretty good range and the special attack gives you an area with 30% damge reduction buff while slowing enemies

It's not true that "no pro player uses other weapons". The Zeus shield is the best for very high heat runs but not for speedrunning.
