The BEST Way to Camp! | Smithwoods RV Park
We went to Smithwoods RV Park in Felton, CA in June 2019 to celebrate a birthday with some friends. We had a great time and camping in the redwoods brought back a lot of good memories from when we first met up in Humboldt.
The park was very nice and we were camping right in the redwoods. It had a surprising amount of amenities and the spots were nice and big. This was definitely a kid friendly campground, which is huge for us because we are ALWAYS camping with kids. There was a pool, bike, games, and a lot of different things for the kids to do right there at camp! There was full hookups and the premium spots with a nice feature for us to hang out in.
This was our first time camping in Santa Cruz, so we took the opportunity to go into the boardwalk and celebrate the birthday in style. We hiked over to Roaring Camp and took the train straight there and that is highly recommended! You pass right through some awesome redwood forest and the boardwalk is a lot of fun.
We are typically camping in California right now because papa bear's work keeps us weekend warriors (even though we would like to venture farther out later this year), and this was not quite our favorite California campground. That said, redwoods camping is tough to beat and this campground did not disappoint. Although we tend to like most RV camping in California, we can still recommend this one! We got out there in our Rockwood 2706ws and made some more awesome memories, and THAT is #WhyWeWork!

This was definitely a nice change of pace from the "RV Resorts" we've been to lately. Have you guys treated yourself to the California Redwoods yet? If not, you should really do yourself a favor!

looks like you had a great time. My wife and I did a trip down there last October. did the train thing ( we love trains). Your getting closer! more NORTH! you know you miss the MAD river.

Do they allow SUV car camping? Would I be able to put up a privacy pop up tent for my foldable toilet there? Thanks
im in Wa state....central part of the state has cool camping but not like your neck of the woods....i wish they would open more...!

How far is the walk to Roaring Camp? 😀
Roaring railroad is great. We took our kids on that years ago. It was so fun and neat. We love Santa Cruz and the board walk. Where “The Lost Boys” was filmed.
