As a mechanic I wear a G-Shock DW5600. Mine has been on fire from using an oxyacetylene torch, drowned in trans fluid, brake fluid, gear oil, engine oil, DEF and other fluids and still works like a charm, takes beatings when i grab a hammer or use my air hammer and its pretty slim but sometimes I do need to take it off for a very confined space.

As an English teacher, I wear the TeachMaster by Omega. Every hour a bird chimes a sonnet of Shakespeare's in iambic pentameter. It's better than my Vostok 'Dark, Deep, Depression' which reads a short story from Russian literature every month (Julian calendar).

As for watches for musicians, Seiko makes a very cool analog metronome watch.
You may have missed the only opportunity to talk about the Seiko Metronome.
For a service technician I can highly recommend the Casio W-735H. Vibrating alarm watch, so if you're in a loud mechanical plant room and you need a timer or an alarm just set it to vibration and all of a sudden it doesn't matter how loud the machines around you are. It also has 100m of water resistance and it's a faux G-Shock, but I can attest to it that it can easily survive a 5-6m drop without any issues like the real deal. It's the best tool watch for someone who's using actual tools in my opinion.
I love how Tom's intonation is always so sarcastic. It shows that he understands these are all vanity items nobody really needs

My absolute favorite watch is the G Shock Rangeman. Solar, super tough, easy to use buttons with gloves, Altimeter, Barometer, Compass. I could just use this watch and nothing else, it is so comfortable that I have fallen asleep with it. When im traveling and in areas where I don't feel entirely safe, or will take a beating, this is the watch for me. My father in law gifted it and it is the greatest gift I have ever received.

Great video guys! I'm a scientist (molecular biology) and I actually mostly use a dive watch, as experiments need a lot of timing (15 minute incubation, 30 minute incubation, etc...) that can be quickly and easily timed. That Bell and Ross actually looks amazing though. I think my ideal would be a highly antimagnetic watch with a bidirectional timing bezel and a GMT hand.

You could look at Omega. They are basically amagnetic with a rating of 15000 Gauss. cf. Milgauss from Rolex with a mere 1000 hence the name. Rolex use a Faraday cage design but the relevant components of Omega movements are themselves non-ferrous. They also have the co-axial escapement invented by George Daniels and used in movements only by Roger Smith, Daniels' only apprentice and now a Master Watchmaker, and Omega. (increased accuracy). They do a Planet Ocean with GMT complication I believe. There's your watch, Darkeye! (uni-directional bezel I think though)

I was disappointed not to see a Sinn watch in your collection. Sinn watches are considered to be the ultimate affordable tool watches.

From my experience, we were issued Suunto watches, and the new Vertical would be an amazing watch to wear in combat. The navigation with downloadable maps is an amazing feature, along with the crazy long battery life. Your picks were good, especially the GShock, but the Vertical and its predecessor, the Peak Pro 9, is probably on more Special Forces’ wrists.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control with Moon Phase complication, just the thing for the busy werewolf on the go.
As a filmaker for industry, in sometime very "breaking" environments, I was used to bring my little Seiko SKX. But I was scared to scratch severely the hardlex as I scratched the mineral glass of another cheap watch, a Lip Dauphine, one time before an interview, by simply put my hands in a case of lights against their barn-doors... And a SKX is now a must have... Not break it, Bruno! So. I decided to strictly understand what are my needs. Cheap, efficient, not crying if I break it. As nice as possible. And I found the graal. Casio G-Shock. The "Square". The original. First price. A 5600 BB-1. It is light. I got alarm, countdown, backlight, chronograph. Beautiful. For 99€/$. How much in £? What else? Oh... I Became a Square worshipper... And I got 3 or 4 more... Advanced Squares .... But Never in harsh environnements... 🤣😇 The Square, the most affordable. The BB-1, buddies!
During my time in the USN most of our wardroom was wearing the new-then timex indiglo. It was accurate, small enough to stay out of the way, and the blueish glow was perfectly modulated for when control was rigged for night time periscope ascents. Timex got wind that we were wearing them (through the spouse of one of my colleagues) and did a magazine ad campaign around it. That was fun.

Hear me out: Casio W-735H. Vibrating alarm watch, so you don't miss an alarm or countdown because you didn't hear it in a loud plant room. 100m of water resistance and mine survived a good 5m drop, like a real G-Shock would that it's trying to imitate. And it's only £30 in the UK. Absolutely adore mine, one of my favourite watches.
Professional divers don't wear mechanical watches, they use dive computers these days (maybe a mechanical watch is worn as a backup watch, but certainly not a luxury one such as Omega, let alone a Rolex...). As for the military (and aviation personnel), they rely on Casio and Garmin.
You guys are pros, no doubt. Yet you still manage to raise your game with each new upload, it seems. Awesome video, gentlemen. 👌
The problem with the Monaco is you need to be as cool as McQueen to wear it, and let's face it, you are not.....
As an aviation nerd, and commercial aviation and military aircraft mechanic, the simple black squared Bell&Ross is my second favorite time piece... after my black squared G- Shock :] Dressed in civies, my favorite watches are the silver BB58 925 and Seiko turtle.
This was brilliant guys. I love that the PloProf was on the list from Tom, that shark proof bracelet has it all unless there is a bite higher up where it would be less handy. The other lot that you have to be careful of are those pesky octopi, those eight tentacled watch robbers that can whip off you watch without you knowing. Fortunately they only go after divers. Now for a watch for a professional city drain cleaner would have to be a Mudmaster, not the digital but the old ana-digi one, even covered in lots of clag at least one of the displays will be able to tell you the time and that compass will give you an idea of the direction. You may still want to be careful of those rogue octopi though who are on the run from sharks that also want to know what time it is.
From the military perspective, it’s hard to beat the Marathon GSAR. Tough, legible, 24 hour inside scale, and tritium glass tubes for readability at night. Plus they have a real NSN and can ordered through supply. It’s my go to tactical watch. Another great option is the CWC SBS

"The top salesman doesn't show up riding a bicycle. He shows up riding a Daytona."
The guys that went to the moon were OBSESSED with fast cars too. So the speedmaster is fitting
F91W - job done for 99% of occasions. For the aviation types then the Gen 1 Blue Angels C300 with the slide rule bezel is the clear winner.
The Speedmaster was not used in the Spaceshuttle and actually wasn’t used to go to the moon as they NEVER WENT TO THE MOON!!!
Regarding the Ploprof, I would think that the only purpose for the "shark-proof" mesh bracelet is to ensure the shark gets a toothache while gobbling up your arm.

Good job guys, very professional. ⌚
Something to note for the motorsport watches these guys didn't mention- back from the early days until the mid 60s at least racing cars didn't have a speedometer, generally knowing the engine revs was more important along with other indicators for pressures and temperatures and another vacuum or wire line added complexity but occasionally for working out their own pace they wanted to know. Of course RADAR traps and team radio wasn't a thing so they used a watch, nice big face with easy to press buttons was best and they timed themselves between two known points. So the watches where more for speed than lap times, official boards with the times would be shown on the start/finish straight.

And for Athletes? BTW The Apple Watch anything including Ultra is a joke when it comes to navigation, ask any Professional or even amateur athlete.
Apollo 15, 16 and 17 carried a Moon Rover-- so they did actually drive on the moon. The Speedmaster therefore totally qualifies as a driver's watch.

G Shock Square. The only answer to any of these questions if you need something that won’t let you down. That’s a pretty boring answer though. I’m going to say you need a Chronograph and be able to quickly do speed/distance/time calculations - so a Seiko SNA411P Flightmaster. It has the advantage over the Breitling Navitimer of being quartz and having an alarm function as well.

What I've never understood about watches like the Mudman are how incredibly difficult they are to actually clean. Mud/sand sticks in all of those weird crevices. In my eyes, it should be a smooth, uncluttered design.
Thank you, chaps. I appreciate your professional opinions on a wide range of professional watches. And I appreciate more so the sarcasm and dry wit with which it was delivered. Question: what watch would you recommend for a McDonald’s employee working the registers vs working out back in food production?
This video is very entertaining. Really loved it.
The IWC diver is a gimmick. No professional diver ever would rely on a depth gauge in a watch. The JLC Polaris with an alarm would be more useful and better looking.
Just don't understand why they can't make a semi normal looking g-shock that isnt 45mm+.

As a B2B sales professional I wear Gshock GSG100 for everyday but whenever there is any customer meeting I wear Movado Bold
I got an old school all steel Bulova Caraville chronograph I've had for 20 years on its fourth battery. Was a few years I didn't wear it but it's become my work watch. Being a contractor I wouldn't put my mechanical watches through the abuse that I do with my tools. Edit, it's a 43B006 from what I could research the watch was discontinued when I was gifted during Christmas. Love to watch until it fell off my wrist because of a poor spring bar. It literally got scratched a hell in a handbasket which disappointed me but now it's become a reliable workhorse. My PRX is my beater watch, my Seiko alpinist is my camping watch. My Movado is my dinner watch.
1200 meters?!! The SCUBA diver would be dead, but at least what's left of his body can be buried with a functioning watch.

My most used functions are GMT as I travel a lot, and don't wanna call my friends in a middle of a night wherever they are. I don't like chronographs, but I find that I can do most of my timings with diving bezel. And water resistance. Jumping in the water and not even caring is the best.
Who uses watches for speed and time calculations... complications for the sake of complications
I fancy a dive watch since you can set the bezel as a little timer. Lets say we have 3 hours to finish a job, i set the bezel and it is about all i need from a watch other than looking good and telling time.
If any watch, old or new, fit the "Racing Driver Watch" Moto, it would be the 1980s Casio thermometer, because its a light watch, it can hold up to the Speed and a crash even and it shows the Aur Temperature, wich for a racing Driver, Is very Important to know, to gauge how hot the rmtrack might be and to keep an eye out for the Engine Temps. If thats not enough, Ayrton Senna Wore one. The watch is the CASIO TS-1200

While somewhat pointless, the PloProf needed a better depth rating. Breitling and Doxa have it beat without becoming absurd paperweights.
I love that omega proplof I can’t swim but I think it’s the meanest looking omega Ive seen in a long time
Re: Navitimer A 20 dollar E6-b or Poole CRP type calculator is what pilots used to use to make all their calculations. The modern Navitimer has a 60 minutes counter dial which is a massive improvement in comparison to the early APOA model which had only a 30 minutes dial.; however, a Seiko chronograph with a US $ 7-T-92 with a quartz moment is the best choice as it has a totalizer comprised of two dials: an outer dial with a detailed 60 minutes with minutes notches and an inner dial with 12 hours like in the old WWII Luftwaffe Type B Flieger watch. The Seiko watch makes RAF low flying dead-reckoning navigation technique --older Brits and other commonwealth air force pilots know what I'm talking about-- much easier on the single pilot in the cockpit. The Seiko 7-T-92 OCFO Seiko is my choice. Flightmaster chronograph NSA 411 has a 9-T-62 movement and its 12 hour totalizer's dial is less detailed, hence less suitable for the task at hand..
You feel me🤣
That 'Plongeur Professionnel' is an absolute BEAST of a watch...Same depth rating as my Doxa Sub 300T.....I don't have a 'Sharkproof bracelet' though.....That Royal Oak Offshore music edition IS actually my favourite AP watch, which considering I don't really like them isn't saying much, but I DO like the thought that's gone into it, making the various bits looking like they've been stolen from elsewhere and other equipment! As a watch it's totally irrelevent to my lifestyle or interests though LOL. Same could be said for many of my watches! Realistically I'd be best with a G-Shock with a large print dial!
I was hoping for the music section, they'd pick out the seiko metronome watch
My cousin has one of those Domino's Rolex. He did indeed earn it by managing a branch with enormous sales volumes.
Initially I wasn't sure you were being ironic.
