Thanks, Matthew. These are fun. As a retired couch potato who's probably old enough to be your grandfather, these trips make it possible for me to go vintage guitar scouting without having to leave the house.

You're doing what I did 50 years ago and the stuff I had now they call vintage lol , for all the young guns starting out that dont have the money for a overpriced tele / strat , buy a fender Road worn series great guitar and focus on learning to play and don't stress about buying a old guitar , its not going to make you a better player

Damn dude, you're such a good player. I wish people like you could have their pick of these kinds of guitars, instead of them being bought and put up on a wall to impress dinner guests.
I love vintage Fender hardtail Stratocaster
Ive known Jimmy Wallace since the mid 70's. I bought a new Les Paul Artisan from him in 78' among several others and marshall JMP's. He was a genius for seeing the antique guitar market to come! He sat in Arnold and Morgan music for over decade and bought every early Gibson and Fender he saw there traded in. His collection is massive and the shop is like the showroom to the warehouse full. Great guy as well. He's a beloved local legend here.
That junior looks (and sounds) perfect!
Matthew, you’re obviously totally in love with what you do. That’s awesome and a great inspiration for many others.
That Jr. is amazing. I’ve always had a love for Jr’s. Over the summer, I built a full scale, larger bodied mustang-style guitar with my grandfather. One pickup, one volume. I’ve found that the simplicity and the limitations can really open up another side of your playing. I always love to see these videos, as there is only one store that sells anything vintage within an hour and a half from me. Great video and great playing as always!
We really need a tutorial for mirrors man, it's one of the best things I've ever heard. also wanna hear you talk about the song.

I know many might appreciate but it feels so odd to do such a thing! lol
I just bought an all original 1958 Fender Stratocaster that had been stored in its case in a bedroom closet since 1981, shortly after the person bought the guitar off of the original owner, who also rarely ever played it. Every expert that has seen it so far believes it and its case may possibly be the most well preserved 58’ Strat in existence.

Oh yeah.. BIG TIME. I swear the only thing that would of made this video any better would of been in the truck on the way to the next guitar shop and just as he finished tellin' how cool the collection was at Jimmy's... at 11:49 when he looked into the camera he instead says; "And we're goin' back for that junior! "⛧🤘
Thanks for doing these...I'll never see any places like that. What a treat!
this video is like vintage guitar heaven 😭💕
Thanks Matt, had a blast following you on your journey that day!
Your playing gives me chills. I mean forget the equipment and all these things. Just your playing bro. It's awesome
Excellent Matthew 🤠🎸 I bet you had a great time. You demonstrated some really cool guitars man. Very nice place to be. Thanks for sharing. PEACE 🤠👍🎸
I've said it before and I'll say it again. This guy is a jewel of a personality and a jewel of a guitar player. And here's my observation....in the UK we have the boring self obsessive Chapmans, Bucks, and Spenders who create vain self glorifying portraits of themselves. Mathew Scott portrays the true message of a guitar player and musician that speaks and plays from his soul in both his playing and humble, endearing portrayal of himself.
was about to shazam the intro song when I heard your voice coming in - looking forward to hear the whole thing!!

@@ElmarSprong Chris Buck is annoying as hell. He might play very fancy (or as he would call it "posh") it is not very versatile. Always the same fancy, show-off style playing mixed with his annoying posing. He is almost meme-like. Mix that with the fact, that the songs Buck&Evans release are super boring. Meaning really really boring uninspired radio pop-rock. Let me just say this: Buck Evans is the most annoying guitar player on KZread. Matt is not only a great and sympathic guitarist, he also is not part of the gear circlejerk involving certain bigger guitar store chains and online retailers....

@@vapporiesat3125 also can't understand what people like so much about his playing. Seems like same little slide into a few bends at once then quick runs into a slow vibrato over and over. Also personality of a 90 year old man

What FANTASTIC axes!!! Thnx for the ride along Matt!
What a selection. You made those guitars come back to life. Would love to see a video on the weight of each guitar you own. Or am I missing a video on it already? Great job Matthew
Your knowledge about guitars Is totaly crazy 🤟 I'm really happy that I found your chanel.
Thank you for great video. I am watching it from Japan. "Mary Kaye" what I want. That's sound was sooo sweet.✌🏻
Excellent tour and comments. I have been to all the Dallas stores when I lived there 8 years ago.
There used to be a great vintage guitar shop in South Congress by the Continental Club in Austin, which was called One World. The manager, Gary, was a really great guy. Sadly, the shop's owner decided he could make a better living by renting the shop out as office space and it closed down in about 2001. The irony is that the owner succumbed to a heart attack having gone to all the effort to refurbish the premises. I have happy memories of being in that shop and talking to Gary and the interesting folk who came by.
I went to Killer Vintage. They were about to close, but they kindly hung around for a few minutes. I played a few guitars and tried a few pedals out. I ended up getting a pedal since they were kind enough to extend the hours by a bit for me as I was on the way to the airport. I enjoyed the experience.
Cheers from Italy! This channel is quality. You gained a subscriber!
That junior is where it's at
Just moved to Dallas a few months ago. Love it here.

Amazing guitars, amazing channel man...
That Jr. Smokes all of them.
I heard “oh Josephene “ slip by there and just noticed in general that you got some Rich R in you. Me too I’m a big fan. Then I saw your Brothers Of A Feather shirt. Says it all.
nice video Matt , really nice guitars
That Esquire had some balls! My favorite for sure.
The song at the beginning was great!

Jimmy Wallace is one of the most genuine righteous people anyone could have the pleasure of knowing. In addition to his collection of sweet vintage instruments he is the first boutique dealer chosen by Gibson as a partner. His line of personal proprietary instruments based on Gibson designs is superb, as are his personal line of pickups. He owns the largest vintage guitar show on the planet started by Charley Wirz. Jimmy keeps the torch burning, and he's one of the finest guitarists one could ever hear. He's always been kind to me and I'm nobody. Visit him if you ever have the opportunity. Thanks for this video brother.
I just want to go watch you shop. Lol amazing guitars, amazing playing as usual.
That '54... those A3 magnets are sooo rich sounding!
Awesome thanks man now I am part of your team MUCH LOVE from Huntington WV thanks
That first amp + guitar you played on filled the room.
Ha ha. Love the outtake when you 'dried'. Killer. PEACE!
Thnx again Matt! Like this shop hopping hunting video’s. ✌🏼
Ohhh that blondie strat and the es 335 , thanks for the video , i want to visit that guitar heaven.🤩🤩🤩😍

That is one badass roadtrip!
Would definitely be a long road trip from BOSTON!! LOL!!!! Great stores, guitars and playing Matt!
I live in Dallas and I need to pay these stores a visit. Awesome vid 👍🏻
Les Paul jnrs have always come alive in my hands for some reason, something about the wild sound they have.
That Martin guitar at the end is very nice, hope you'll some some Martin you'd wanna buy someday
The D-28 sounds amazing. So resonant.
I got goosebumps from this
A couple of American Pro Strats among others on the rack, and had bought a '62 Gibson 330 in 1973 in Dallas, then a '68 Gibson 335 in 1974 in Fort Worth, to start this wonderful lifetime journey (oh for those 'affordable to MOST musicians' days) ....yet I'm sitting here playing and watching with a stock $189 Firefly....and happy/mad that it sounds SO good. This singing wood and wire hobby is mischievous!
Man... That 63 335 sounded SO GOOD!!!!!!
I read somewhere that legendary guitarist jj cale was happy with 100 dollar guitar in his later years he used danelectros

Your playing really is inspiring, so organic and natural. Your multi-string vibrato is so recognizable and amazing. My favorite out of the ones you played would be that 59 hardtail strat or the Esquire.

when you feel the blues you can make the guitars sing
that's soo classic. you're going to a music store. you start looking at guitars and end up buying something, in most cases a pedal or accessories, you can actually afford ;-)
I actually saw a friend of mine that went to the Dallas Guitar show 2 years ago. They had a run of the SRV's reissues that were about $400.00 and a limited run of them also. That friend said he saw one at a booth a guy was trying to sell for 20k, He almost bought it because he doesn't know much about guitars at all and thought it was cool and he had the money. I told him it was a very nice, limited edition version worth about $400.00 and even sent him a link to the limited edition version. People will try to scam you for sure!
Dude you went wild with that Esquire, finally a Tele!!

Hey Matthew, I have been craving a deluxe reverb 65 RI. But!!! Now you have me interested in playing a super reverb. My only problem is finding one within 100 miles from where I live. Thanks for all your episodes. Been watching for about 8 months now.✌
I've watched this vid many times, not only because of the guitars but some of those sweet licks. Idk if ill get the chance to get my dream vintage strat but who knows. Anyhow most of the guitars i have are ones that i've put together myself or i've worked on i guess i can be somewhat proud of that lol.
At 05:42 Matthew: This is a really great guitar. Guy in the background: That's a great guitar! 😂
