@@kamielhamers3730 Thanks for not sticking these guys in small tubs, i've seen people sticking snakes and other lizards in tiny tubs with nothing in them. Makes me sad, these guys have plenty of space and actual hides instead of the whole enclosure being a small tub and the excuse being the tub counts as a "hide". Sorry about that small rant, just makes me sad that people justify making these animals have a poor quality of life for the sake of shoving more lizards into one area.

I am in complete agreement with Kamil, Uromastyx are basically tortoises without the shell and much bigger personalities!

Growing up my fascination with dinosaurs is in fact what ignited my passion for reptiles. My first encounter with a Uromastyx was back in 2003 while I was in Kuwait. I had no idea what it was at the time but I can say it was really defensive. I didn’t even have to get real close to it and I was a little intimidated. I was also caught off guard but still. They are pretty fast too. It stood around just long enough for me to get a good look and was out. I love the look of these guys and this breeder sure has some real nice ones. I have not seen many since my first encounter. Usually just wild caught for sale on morph market or other sources but it’s nice to see how chill some of these Uros are. Gorgeous too.

One of my friends was looking into getting a pet reptile.. And he said he wanted something vegetarian and unique. I suggested a uromastyx as they are similar in care to a bearded dragon but with much higher temperatures and a few other changes. I showed him the care for them and how they live in the wild. He fell in love with them as he said they're perfect for his lifestyle. He also loves growing succulents and cactus and is a vegetarian himself. He is looking forward to the future when he can get one.

I wondered the same from the start of the video: how much electricity does this collection cost? Recreating a desert climate isn’t cheap, and I think this is the reason why uromastix haven’t taken off as bearded dragons did. Uromastix resemble something between a desert iguana and a tuatara. My favorite was the bandit though.

I agree with your statement Dav, I think these beauties will really start to gain some momentum and begin winning over more and more herper’s hearts in the near future. i’ve had 2 ornate uros for around 7 years now, but one passed away in july. i had a female and a male, raised them from around 7 weeks old. (looking back i’m kind of impressed as i got them in third grade and did that all by myself lmao) now i just have my boy, but people underestimate the unique personalities of uros! my boy is so sweet, he has never bit me, and he will take naps with me too. i miss my girl so much, what hapoened is we successfully bred them (for some context they were at my dads house, and i moved out, so i only visited them once a week and he didn’t take the best care of them :/) but she got eggbound and passed, but she still delivered 13/14 unusually large infertile eggs. but anyways uros are some of the heartiest, most personable, unique, and in my opinion best reptiles on the market. without my experience with them, i would have never found my passion for science!

A local reptile store had an albino ornate uromastyx, and it looked like an abolone shell. Simply gorgeous, and he was as sweet a lizard as I'd ever held. I didn't have enough heat in my enclosures at the time, so I passed him up. In hindsight I always regretted not getting him. Needless to say, he was long gone by the next time I visited the shop.

These animals look so beautiful and you can tell they're very well cared for and they're thriving. They seem to be very calm for lizards too and the prize is definitely very affordable 👌 I only hope that ppl who buy them do their research and take care of them as they should with love and respect. Unlike bearded dragons who always seem to end up at sanctuaries with deformities, metabolic bone disease and all kinds of diff sufferings from bad husbandry and care. I love these for sure and kudos to this breeder who obviously loves his lizards 🦎

The yemenensis blew me away! I've always loved those bright blue ornates, but that white banding and all those accent colors are gorgeous

I've always wanted a Uromastyx. Been so many years since I've last owned any pet lizards though. Just recently started out again by buying a trio of crested geckos. I'll work my way up to a Uromastyx next. 👍

Uromastyx is one of the animal that got me into reptiles, when I was a kid I really just want to herbivorous pet(I don't like worms). I have been looking for uros for more than ten years, and loricata was my favorite. I never seen any loricata for sale in the market of US. I saw some wild caughts that selling for about $1400 back in the days when I was in China(around 2010), and this is the first time I see a captive baby loricata. He is doing a great job to excavate those uncommon-kept species of lizard, and all of them are nice af. Love your content man, keep it up!

Hey Dav, I just get back to this video and watched it again. I just want to comment on my comment (10 months later) lol... I was wrong, there are loricatas in the US. I just visited Bob Blome's reptile farm last Sunday and talked with him, and he showed me the only pair of loricata in the US. Hopefully I could own one of their offspring in the future.

I purposefuly turned the loophole on (or whatever it is called in English, it is not my native language but you get the idea), turned the volume completely off, turned the max briteness, for the views, Brother, for the views) and took a leisure evening stroll. The smartphone was placed comfortably on my bed, as if it had taken a f"*"(padron my French) chill pill. Take it easy, Everybody and Ratt... ... ... You get the idea. Walker's "high" is so great, but probably underappreciated. PS: the Netherlands at Their Finest

That's why the guy has them. He wanted them so he kept or held back the good ones. Probably why he started breeding. That's why I watch these videos, because If I didn't I would keep all the reptiles I come across.
