The Best Tube Combo For Home? - Marshall DSL5CR Review And Demo (all valve guitar amp)

Музыка

Review and demo of Marshall DSL5CR. This is a pretty compact 5-watt all valve (tube) guitar amplifier (combo) with built-in reverb.
This combo has two channels: Classic Gain and Ultra Gain.
Gain and Volume for each channel. One equalizer for both channels. And buttons Tone Shift and Deep give you many options for setting the sound you need.
Also this Combo has a Speaker-emulated Line Output (which is perfect for playing in headphones), Audio in, Effects Loop for additional effect pedals and the button Low Power, which reduces the amp's power from 5-watt to a half of 1 watt.
What is really cool - is that Marshall included 2-button footswitch to the kit! So you can easily switch channels and turn on and off effects loop.
I think Marshall DSL5CR combo deserves to be called - one of the best valve (tube) combos for home!
Make rock - not war!

I run mine thru a 1 by 12 and 2 by 12 cabs and it sounds huge and the 12 inch speakers eliminate all of the fizzyness . I find it easier to get vintage tones out of the 5cr than I can from my 40cr . The ultra gain on the 5cr seems to be voiced quite differently from the ultra gain on the 40cr

No issues with the review. It just seems like a lot of these amps nail really clean tones, and heavy distortion tones, but suffer when it comes to the mid level OD tones, like SRV for example. Pedals are probably the answer. But I do wish that on that ones I tried the High gain channel it didn't go into heavy distortion so quick and had more range.

I would say that is not necessarily a bad thing. Often 5w amps are too compressed to even have a “clean” channel once you turn it up a bit, especially with hotter pickups. Guess just use an OD pedal on classic channel to get your crunch.

If you're a beginner, I would get the Fender Mustang. There are a lot of options and you can add in all different effects and see what you like. You might end up liking something completely different than you thought. You can also really get crazy with the signal chains and biasing and stuff if you want. ***BUT*** a lot of the Mustang presets are garbage so there is a lot to sift through. I have a Mustang GT-100 that I'm looking to upgrade to this DSL5CR or a Blackstar MK II HT5. My Mustang also does this weird thing where the volume/gain starts to drop out randomly and I have to restart it. I have read of it happening to other people so make sure you jam on one for at least 20-30 minutes before you buy it.

When you were demonstrating the "Ultra Gain" channel at its most aggressive gain level, you said, you weren't sure what to call that type of sound; that would be considered a "metal" or (this is an older term: ) "heavy metal" sound. (These days, most people just say "metal.") That's generally the heaviest style of rock (and it has many subcategories these days).
