    Forest River is a doorstop waiting to happen. We spend $300 a month on payments, and another $200 a month during the summer average on repairs each summer. Leaking pipes, water lines, and even CO leaks into the cabin from the water heater. Window struts that have completely failed, we have use of 2 out of 6 windows in our Puma. Almost all of the outside trim has peeled off during transit, exposing screws. The shower pan cracked after the first year. The slide out fails often, there is obvious structure failure as different parts of the camper are bowing out or simply over-flexing. Yes, we even had ours sent back to Elkhart Indiana for major repairs after it began falling apart just one year after delivery. The dealer refused to look at it unless we paid for service and labor, Forest River declared it was the dealers problem. Of course, when it was finally settled whose responsibility it was, a year had passed and Forest River claimed it was past the one year warranty. We had purchased the extended warranty, but "somehow" manufacturer defects were not included, but simply "wear and tear", but we hadn't used it more than three times for less than 200 miles before things started falling off, or the carbon monoxide began pouring into the cabin from under the cabinets and setting the CO alarm off everytime the water heater began working. Save yourself the trouble and expense of $95/hour + labor and hard to find parts like plumbing (each leak has to be repaired by a dealer since the plumbing is unique and can't be done by yourself with standard parts). Stay away from Forest River.

    We bought a Rockwood Roo 233 made by Forest River. It was the biggest piece of junk that we’ve ever spent money on. Every time we pulled it there would be screws laying in the floor from falling out of different things. It leaked water into the inside of the walls and rotted the floor. I had it resealed by a local RV dealer. They told me it wasn’t sealed properly from the factory. They showed me where the outside compartment doors barely covered the holes in the side. I wouldn’t take another Forest River product if they gave it to me for free. Life is too short.

    You absolutely can repair almost everything in/on a camper yourself - especially the plumbing, absolutely none of it is unavailable. The major hurdle that I've seen as a technician is people's refusal to maintain their investment - and unfortunately most people are too lazy to take the time to diagnose problems themselves. Truth is the majority of problems a camper has can be diagnosed with a multimeter and your mark 1 eyeballs. The other truth is that you are going to have these same problems with every entry level rv - whether its Forest River, Keystone, Palamino, Jayco, or whatever alternate branding the two main companies shelve them under. Puma branded models unfortunately have been exceptionally bad the last couple years, but I see the same issues with that 30-40k camper as I do in entry level 5th wheels at 80k. Combine that with people's innate desire to save 1,000 on the tag so they go to Camping World/Lazy Days/(insert whatever local large chain style dealer in your area) and they add terrible service from a company that pays their technicians in a flat rate model and sales staff on commission. You don't get quality anywhere when the only mission is to move every unit in/out as fast as humanly possible.

    Step into the RV you can put your trash can underneath the small counter next the two drawers. Bath tub you can use to wash your clothes if need to with an apartment washer/dryer combo. Underneath the shelves with the netting could had put pull down drawers kitchen utilities. Even in the bathroom with larger drop down drawers for more storage.

    Hey Myles! How are you doing? I've watched your GeoPro vid on this floor plan a thousand times. I appreciate this tour too. I love this floor plan for just myself. I would get a stool and sit at that kitchen counter and look out those windows just like at home. I've looked at the 19 Murphy bed but haven't seen this one in person yet. The quality seems good for the size. Take care!!👍👍

    I deliver RVs for a living, and I have always been impressed with the quality of the Geo Pro and E Pro travel trailers! I plan on buying a travel trailer sometime in the near future. There is one other travel trailer that I have started delivering recently, that is the Coachman Remote. They seem to have similar level of quality, but a little less feature rich, but they look really nice. The other thing is they are only 7 feet wide, instead of 7’ 8” like the Geo and E Pro. That makes the Remote even better for smaller tow vehicles without tow mirrors. I’m currently torn between those 3 models, it’s a tough decision, since I find all three very nice!

    Hummm. Myles it’s a nice trailer, but I don’t think it’s the right one for you because of the dome roof. The shower barely fits you, and are you going to bump your head on the air conditioner? Can you access the bathroom and frig when the slide is in?

  • @mylesrv

    @mylesrv

    Ай бұрын

    I’m 6’1 without shoes on and I fit in every area of this RV. I don’t mind the shower not being that tall, I would only be in there for 3-5 minutes tops. Most RVs this size are going to actually have even shorter showers than this. And because the slide out is shallow, I believe both things can be accessed with the slides in. I didn’t check and confirm but again, that’s not a deal breaker for me either because I’ve never considered it too difficult to push a slide out for 5-10 seconds real quick if needed to get to a space inside the RV while traveling.

    Bathroom and fridge work with slide in but the Murphy bed will not come down with slide in. You can use the couch though folded out like a bed if you had to. I saw this unit in person at a rv show in February. They wanted $27,990. I am 6’2” and had head room everywhere but yes the shower I had to lean over a tad but could work for me.

    It's more expensive than owning a house. Far more expensive if you can't be bothered to, or afford if your goal is to also work as little as possible, properly maintain them. Massively more expensive if you aren't interested/capable/handy enough to diagnose and make repairs yourself. They simply are not designed to be lived in full time, 100% for these entry level models. They are designed to be used a half a dozen weekend trips a year at the most for a few years. Consider this one thing - you have a maximum of r-9 in your walls and r-13 in your ceiling (completely ignoring all the holes for vents, ducts, windows and such), and essentially 0 insulation in the floor because it is an open space with no air control. Your furnace/heating system has 0 ability to control humidity and the rated uptime is approximately 50% per hour (12 hours a day) - this is a major problem if you live in any sort of climate where you'd need to use this to sustain your life.

    @@mylesrv I pointed out a particularly incorrect and potentially dangerous one. Watch your video and listen to what you said, then take a few minutes of your day and go talk to your technician's and find out why it was wrong, and why it is potentially dangerous for you to be explaining it to a customer that way. You need to have that time with your technician's and more of it after this one particular item, it is actually important that you have this conversation with someone in front of you so that knowledge will actually sink in. That or you need to take the more active approach to developing at least a minimal baseline of technical knowledge so you aren't giving customer incorrect and sometimes dangerous information. RVIA I'm told has a fair presence down in Texas, the basic online course set from RVTI would be quite a good step even for a salesman to do the first level of the course. LCI has a pile of free coursework, most is probably more advanced but it's all good information for you to have. I'm sure it seems like a pain in the a, but I deal with this same exact stuff almost daily with a service writer/salesman at the shop I'm currently at that absolutely refuses to put any effort into obtaining any knowledge that's not on one of the pamphlets until it gets to a point that a customer has a problem he led them into and/or something he can't bs his way out of. Put in some work, don't be like him. Trying to point you in the right direction so you can head down a path that makes you more effective and especially not putting people's health at risk. If for some reason the technicians at your dealership don't know what the vent fan actually does - 1. Let the owner know because he/they absolutely NEED a higher level of training. 2. Come back here and I will give you further guidance to take back to your shop. I really do hope they can help you, and you can take some lessons from them beyond this item.
