    I agree with you. It is a very nice alternative for Tom Ford. It's perfect for when you want to smell like Oud Wood but dont necessarily want to waste the real juice. For example, On a Sunday watching football at home I spray woody Oud instead. I save the real stuff for special occasions. I like woody oud, so much so, I got myself 3 bottles so I can over spray. That gives me 80ml x 3 for less than 100$ bucks.

    TF Oud Wood is one of my faves from the TF Private line. I don’t have any bottle from the line yet though I must have smelled almost all. TF Oud Wood, although lacking the performance, would be my first if ever I choose to get from them. Now, I think Woody Oud would be an easy blind buy knowing the price difference and quality. While I don’t feel the practicality of buying TF Oud Wood in the Philippine economy (and I’m staying in the Ph for now), I feel like Woody Oud would be a good shot to stand for it.

    gotta try blend oud gold oud to compare to TF oud wood. That one is quality, fraction of the price (gold oud 60ml - $160, TF oud Wood 50ml - $285) and may fix the performance.......

    Hey, Troy. Woody Oud reminds me a lot of Lalique Encre Noire. I'm certain that it's the vetiver, which is most of what I get from Woody Oud. Have you smelled Encre Noire?

  • @HansenSC

    Troy...what a perfect timing and I was hoping you would do a comparison between the two. I purchased couple bottles of Woody Oud few weeks ago because of the hype/attention it was receiving so I had to find out if the hype was real. Now, is it a 1 to 1 clone?...no. Is it a very close clone?...again no. I think it is a good clone (about 80%-85% close) but with that said, I think it's a fantastic twist or interpretation of it, especially when it settles down 45 min to 1 hour after the initial spray. Performance/longevity wise, I wouldn't say it's a beast mode (like most of the Lattafa's fragrances)but I do get very good performance, 8-10 hours on skin. Question...do you think the Woody Oud is closer clone in the front end or at the back end? In other words, does Woody Oud smell similiar to Oud Wood in the opening or in the dry down? As always, great breakdown and much respect for your honest insight/opinion.

    I am new to the fragrance world and have become quickly addicted. So, I watched a bunch of reviews for hours on end and bought some of the most talked about fragrances but all in clone form. I'm broke so to me 7 to 10 good to great smelling clones is more valuable than 1 bottle of expensive fragrance that I have no clue about. I got Woody Oud because I wanted something that got me close to a Tom Ford scent and in a few videos, this one was held in high regards. I paid $31 after shipping cost. The opening of this is strange. I've seen that in a few reviews and it's absolutely true. Once it dries down it gets better and better. Dry down doesn't take nearly as long as Troy is saying in this video. It takes about 7 minutes to get itself together and start smelling good. This doesn't project much so I hit it up with some Molecule 01 to try to elevate it. The scent isn't bad but isn't amazing. Maybe a 6.5 out of 10. I'll mostly use it as a car freshener because I bought other fragrances that appeal to me more. So far I've tried Lattafa's Asad (Savauge Elixir Clone) - Really really good. Smells amazing and is a powerhouse. Al Haramain's L'Aventure (Creed Aventis Clone) - Smells awesome but doesn't project real well. About the same projection as Woody Oud. I have some other clones coming in the mail that I'm excited about. Lattafa's Fakhar (YSL Y Clone), Armaf's Tres Nuit (Creed Green Irish Tweed Clone) and Oakcha's Sweven (Baccarat Rouge 540 Clone Oil). Can't wait to try them and see what they smell like. I'll keep trying clones because they are way more affordable and enable me to try a bunch out without doing small tester vials. I do plan to get a few real tester vials like God of Fire because I want to try it but haven't found a cheaper alternative.

    I own both Woody Oud and Lattafa Asad, and I agree with your take on both. And hey, you don't need to be on a tight budget to want the incredible value these clones afford. And the fact that so many of them are as good as they are suggests a level of price gouging that the designer and niche houses are engaged in.

    Damn, you basically took the words right out of my mouth. -It performs about the same as Oud Wood. I find that I get whiffs of Oud Wood more than I get with Woody Oud throughout their lifetime. Overspraying this thing doesn't seem to change anything. Might try and let it sit but I don't think it'll help much -You get the feel of Oud Wood but when you smell it up close, the difference is easily discernible -Oud Wood smells richer and more pungent in a way than Woody Oud when smelled up close -Up close, in the opening, Woody Oud smells nicer to me, smoother and sweeter -Drowdown Oud Wood takes the cake. Woody Woud in the drydown has this powdery feel with a kinda tobacco vibe, probably from the way they concocted the juice with the woods/tonka/vanilla. The tobacconess kinda is similar to how the tobacco in Tobacco Vanille smells but tamed to the strength of Oud Wood. Is it a good buy? 100% My only complaint is the cap. I wish it clicked into place.

    The manufacturing on these middle-eastern cheapies is obviously lacking. Worst case, I received a bottle of Toscano Leather with the atomizer completely broken off, and the fragrance gone. Of course, this is the inevitable result of cost-cutting measures, but I'm not complaining. Most of the defects are of no real consequence to us, and the value is tremendous.

    There is not going to be any "lawsuit". As I heard from a reliable source, they ask for permission from the original company before they clone it (it's like a deal between 2 companies). This is the future of fragrance industry: the main company creates a expensive product and the clone company will copy it with a reasonable price and lower quality. And they will hype both fragrances through youtubers 😁 easy peazy

  • @atonyt3762

    @atonyt3762

    That makes no sense. Why would the original company agree to that? There are a lot of consumers that stop buying the original after finding a clone, meaning the clones take a share of the original company’s sales.

    Eerrrm, no. You can't copyright fragrances, so nobody needs permission to make a clone. You also can't copyright electronic components, that's why there are so many companies that make 'clones' of guitar effects pedals.

    I got mine a couple weeks ago and also noted the sour smell. It's like the Oud is too prominent. My batch was made in September so I wonder if it needs to macerate for awhile and if it will get better. I have the Oil Perfumery dupe oil of Oud Wood that is amazing so I think I will try the Oakcha version next as I'm sure they'll be similar to the oil.
