My brother lived in Pittsburgh years ago. I visited him once in ten years and told him as long he lived there I would not be visiting again. This looks nothing like the Pittsburgh I visited years ago. It was dirty and pollution was everywhere. I did not feel safe and could not even bring myself to stay the night. I am from a small country town and so it was a shock to me to see people living so close together. Your video shows a very different view of Pittsburgh than I remember. Hope the city continues to work on keeping a clean city. Who know I may even visit it again after watching your video showing me a new view. Thank you for posting and sharing your experiences.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh. Beautiful city and friendly people. We are very proud of our city and glad you came to visit. Next time stay up north around Butler. 28 is a horrible road. Have to check out Oakland for the museums and the colleges. Such diverse food here also. Some of the dives are the best food. Also coming into the city from the west is the absolute best entrance to any city I have seen. Keep up the great content and hope you return to visit again.

All of the interstates are horrible & obsolete. They need to be rebuilt & finish a beltway around the city. The turnpike is obsolete & disgusting!

Pittsburg was part of the Rust Belt. When the steels mills shut down and moved out of the country the mills were left to rust. It looked so ugly but now the cities have been cleaned up and building turned residential.

A small correction, Mr Rogers trolley represented the actual trolleys in the city at the time (1950s, early 60s) They ran them until the the 80s while they were updated to more modern subway style cars. There is a trolley museum south of Pittsburgh in Washington PA

Pierogis & Haluski is also a popular items to try while visiting Pittsburgh too. There's Whollys in the Strip, the famous big fish sandwich. There's Old Harmony, Trax Farm, Mingo Park to see the covered bridge. Oh I hope you do come back to Pittsburgh to actually get a better impression. The trains are a joy to see also along with the Santa's from around the world. The three rivers Alleghany, Monongahela, form the Ohio River. I wanted to add that.

I grew up 30-miles north of Pittsburgh and moved into the city when I was 18 to go to art school in the 70s. There were still a lot of steel mills along the Mon River when I lived there. But I lived over on the North Side on the hill above the stadium for a few years before moving out to California. My family history runs deep(back to the late 1700s) over on the North Side - which was it's own little town back then called Allegheny. Pittsburgh is still a small town city, homey feel. I spent some time in the area this year ... I still have family and friends there. BTW: Duquesne = Doo-cane.

I visited Pittsburg about 11 years ago. Visited the same places you did. Enjoyed the Incline Museum. Remember leaving a small restaurant as the baseball game was getting out and had to move out of the way as the crowds were taking over the streets and and sidewalks heading home. Great city to walk about. One of the best places was an old church that was converted into a restaurant and brewery. It was on the other side of the Allegany River from the city. Great memories and met some great friends there.

We have never been to Pittsburgh but now we want to GO! I love things like Funiculars! And what an amazing view at the top of where the 3 rivers meet. I, too, love murals, it's one of the things I love about visiting a city. The next time you come back to the Monterey area I'll take you by the murals of Sand City...SO cool!

I was on my way back from Tennessee when you were in Pittsburgh, as you mentioned the UT vs Pitt football game that was that weekend. Being from Ohio, I have been to Pittsburgh many times. Pre-GPS days, I always got lost there. Too many one-way streets and bad signage. We took our kids there in 2004. We rode the Duquesne Incline and took the Ducky boat tour from the station. They let our then 4 year old daughter drive the boat in the river (at a slow speed). That was her first driving experience! We had parked at the top of the incline and got lost trying to get back down the mountain. That was a crazy day! After visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, we then headed east of Pittsburgh to Idlewild Park. There, our 4 year old rode her first rollercoaster (with me). We also rode the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood ride, where you ride a trolley through the life size town of make believe. It also had a water park. We had a blast there! We returned some years later, to experience Star Wars at the science museum, with a GPS. We did not get lost! Glad that you enjoyed Pittsburgh! I enjoyed Tennessee, including Chick-fil-a in Cookeville and Fall Creek Falls state park.

That’s pretty nice with having to go on the Duquesne Incline. Never heard of that and it seems awesome.

Thank you so very much for sharing your visit in Pittsburgh, Pa! Pittsburgh is my hometown, where I lived for 13 years of my life. When you were in Pittsburgh, were you able to spend some time at the Pittsburgh Zoo and the Kennywood Amusement Park? They are super fun, especially for the kids! Thank you once again for the wonderful memories!

I've been to Pittsburgh. I lived in Columbus Ohio for 10 years. I loved the museum's, the public artwork, the different restaurants, the festivals and the book stores! I grew up in a rural farming community, I went to college in a medium city (Akron), I lived in a really remote Amish area after college and then the big city. Hands down I would live in a big city over any of them. I loved taking the ferries in Seattle.

Couple things to check out, if you can see one, a Home game for the Steelers especially during the third quarter when they play renegade to get the crowd hyped up is amazing. Primanti Bros restaurant as well as Quaker Steak And Lube's Atomic Wings Challenge both were featured on Man Vs Food if I remember right. Two other cool things to do around the area is the Architectural house Falling Waters by Frank Lloyd Wright, they have tours of it, it's essentially a house with a river that flows down in through the house as a waterfall. Lastly a bit up north around Kane they start closing the dams up to control flooding and one of the lakes called Red Bridge gets so low that you can pretty much walk across the entire thing, lastly they have the Viaduct bridge which is an old railroad bridge from a really long time ago stretching over a valley that a tornado knocked down so they went and put a glass viewing platform out in where the middle of it was and you can see the remains of the bridge down below and the valley stretching out on all sides.

Pennsylvania born...had relatives who lived in Pittsburgh and still have college friends (Penn State) who call the 'burgh home. Duquesne....do-KANE. Also, most amazing view is to fly into Pittsburgh then drive from the airport to the city. You head through the Ft Pitt Tunnel and Pittsburgh just appears out of nowhere before you! University of Pittsburgh plays in the Steelers Stadium, Heinz Field (no one from PA will ever call it by it's new name)

No, I have never been to Pittsburgh. I've been around it quite a few time on the turnpike but I've never been to it. I should probably go one of these days. That incline is pronounced dew-cane. For a short course on steel making, iron ore is mined out of the ground, then converted in to pig iron in a furnace (blast furnaces are old technology) which is then converted into steel in another furnace for which there are a few choices with a popular one being the Basic Oxygen Process or BOP. That's about all I learned about steel making in my summer working in a steel mill. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give the kids a hug for me.
