I spent most of 2023 on a very comprehensive racket journey and had finally settled on the Pure Strike 98 16x19 3rd Gen by the time 2024 rolled in. I was a very happy camper....but then someone let me borrow their Percept 100. It was instantly an absolutely perfect fit for every aspect of my game. My Percept 100's, with slightly different customizations, live permanently in my court bag. I love everything about them, including the color, which I admit, did take a little bit to grow on me.

I’m testing Prince ATS textreme tour 98. It’s similar to my blade pro 97 16x19 but more forgiving and more spin. Also have a percept 100 16x19 leaded up pretty heavy. had some multi on the percept and can’t get much spin out of it. it’s great with poly string loose, very different from the 97 percept. the 97 I can swing hard as I like ball can’t go out.

Your setup looks like spin monster swings. If you play the Extreme the way it was designed for you will break strings. Maybe a Wilson Shift can act as a string saver. Not that I heard of it being especially gentle to strings, but its unique bending characteristic could resolve into less string movement - or even more, you will have to check that yourself. And the Yonex Vcore line is known for spin AND soft frames. Prince Phantom is new on the market as well, the 16/18 version should be able to compete with the Extreme line. But way softer frames.

Switched to the 2022 Prince Phantom 100 (Japanese version) 16x18 from Yonex Ezone DR98. Mainly due to arm issues when I was using the Yonex. The Phantom is really soft and has good ball pocketing. Also, I seem to volley better, and able to send back squash like forehand slices whenever I get stretched outside on the forehand side. Always wondered why Japan & the rest of the world dishes out different versions of the Phantom. Any thoughts, Harry?

Harry can you explain this? I can swing any racquet and appreciate it's Pros and Cons except for 1 racquet. A Wilson Blade bequeaths EXCRUCIATING PAIN like I've never experienced in any racquet EVER. Pretty bummed about it to say the least but I can't play 1 game and my shoulder is begging for mercy. If you can't maybe Coach Rob has some insights. Always a popular racquet every generation which only makes me more upset. I've even played with the newer Wilson Shift (V1) no real issues but the Blade? Tennis Purgatory... Any suggestions welcome because I'd really like to give it the old college try. Thanks Harry oh background sure thing I'm using a Head Gravity Pro 2023 and my shoulder is loving it. Me too 👍😎

Well, the soft frame concept came from the Clash success. I did quite well with the v7 18/20. Finally dropped it for a pair of Yonex Regnas. Now my clubmate has a competing chance against me again, he does even better with it than I did, his game has improved vastly. Maybe it's just me and players at my age (50), but the reduced RA was the key reason I got it when it came out when my old frames broke my arm (old Head Ti.fire at 363g). They kept the stiff frames for "Point and shoot" in the PS line and got the classic control to the Blades. In my opinion that was a good decision.

More artificial rackets and strings to assist a player, modern tennis is horrid, players cannot use real tennis equipment, what a shame the once charasmatic game full of AMERICAN personalities are no more, now it's robotic players, standing on the baseline and the mens and women's games are exactly the same, same equipment, same baseline, same inferior 2HBH, the mens game actually adopted the women's game 😥. Tennis used to be so unique, now it's fake rackets, boom the ball, stand on the baseline, they don't even know the game inside the baseline to the net. When the American personality left, tennis lost its appeal, Roger was the last of the old school players.
