While I appreciate reviews of this kind of devices, why is "Good e-Reader" reviewing it? Confusion here 😕

Maybe because technically this Walkman can be used as an eReader? Or I guess it's a tech channel that just focuses on eReaders, but also reviews other things on occasion. But seriously, GoodEreader, please hire someone else to manage the KZread channel. No offense, but I cringe at almost every reply. They often add nothing to the eReader conversation.

I'd like to stress that I actually appreciate this review. It caught me off guard 😉 BTW, I have an even smaller High Resolution audio reader that can technically also read some e-book formats... But it's pointless there. Thou, the day may arrive when a good audio player merges with a good e-reader to provide a great device.

Apologies if these questions were answered already and I missed it. Can you save your own presets for the graphic equalizer? Can you save equalizer settings per song? I have this feature on my Android phone using the Poweramp app and it make a huge difference.

This technology should be in a regular cellphone. Sony would have a great selling argument for music lovers over all the competitors.

It's worth mentioning that most A306 (same device but with half the storage) sold worldwide will have a limited power output on the 3.5mm jack. Only the Japanese one (and I think some other Asian models) have the uncapped power output. So if you live in Europe or in the USA, it might be worth importing one from Japan, which is sometimes cheaper than buying it locally, and you get a better device.

I think the audio output issue was solved with a firmware update. I think my A306 had a firmware update about two days after it arrived back in January.

I hear you about how this should basically be a cellphone, but since Samsung forgot to include an SD Card slot in my real phone, I don't have room for music on that. If I'm going to listen to music, I NEED this. I literally cannot fit anything more than is already there. I already own thousands of hours of music, so I refuse to pay a subscription service to stream it to myself as some of my friends insist is the best thing I could do.

@@parker73724 Actually not. The audio is much better than Android phones -- which have limitations imposed by the Android OS. Sony (and others) work around that and have much better components. I have the NW-A306 and it's performance aint nuthin' like a cell phone. The NW-A306 usually sells for around $350 but has 32GB memory. I think the A307 (64GB) may be a non-U.S. model -- in the past, Sony has only had half the memory in their digital players sold in the U.S.

Of course, you should follow your creative direction-this is just a humble suggestion. I'd love to see more of your insights on e-readers in the future anyway!

the original walkman interface from the nw-a30 before they went android was better suited for the screen size imo.. android just has no place in a device this size imo, if the vendor doesnt heavily modify the UI which Sony should have probably worked a little more on.. but then again you can just use the physical buttons

I wish Sony would release an Android Walkman with a replaceable battery. It's so frustrating knowing that these (especially the pricier high end models) have a limited lifespan because the batteries are sealed in.

We have talked about this countless times over the past nearly two decades... We cannot and will not comment on battery life It's like saying how much mpg, or liters per hundred kilometers your car gets You'll never actually see those results So even if something says a 2-week battery life, it is going to depend how you use it, how often you use it, whether your data communication services are on, Bluetooth is on, backlight is on, and all of these things alter the experience and advertise battery life severely

I am not a fan of them using Android OS which as companies have shown will not provide any meaningful OS updates. Eventually the Android OS will be so outdated that it apps will no longer be able to update. People tend to keep devices like these for multiple years.

it's because so much of the music industry today (and its consumers) are married to their streaming services so android is the safest bet to make it work for the most users. Yeah you could just load it into a microsd but 99% of users don't want to bother and don't even own locally stored music collections anymore. You can always install custom ROMs later down the line that keep getting updates

Give away of my NW-A105. Have a new Hiby M300. For convenient, very pocketable, away use. Such as AMTRAK, shorter transit rides in noisy environment. Even walking around use while keeping phone in holder. The SONY is unsatisfactory because of poor battery life and playlist mgmt. via SONY software on PC on NW-A105. You can't edit tags on the SONY. It does not display the number of tracks (perhaps using SONY software on PC, it probably would. The NW-A307 seems hard to find. Would not consider any NA-A30x or the higher end SONY DAP. As I have over a Tb of music files stored, organized, which I don't want to 'interface with SONY software on PC to set up playlists. I do it in player even though it take huge amount of hours, as I play, or 'flip' thru the songs. A large Fiio is for at home use. Song tags, playlists, are editable on device and thumbnails can be gotten directly online. Oh come on, Tether DAP to phone, to use as 'phone'?
