Wouldnt it have been slightly better for the ucla player to hit it to the left as opposed to the right in this situation? It would be attacking Holts backhand and it would make Holt have to travel a slightly farther distance

Maybe, she’s sense. But it also may be redlicki’s favorite shot and one that be feels really comfortable hitting inside out. Either one is a great shot. He also hit behind him and wrong footed him by what he did. Thanks!!!

Could be he hit too many into the backhand and wanted to change direction. It's always hard to say from watching one point only.

Ryan, for one handed backhand the left hand stays on the throat during the split step on the return, correct ? Thanks !

The player in red emulates Andy Murray a lot. The way he split steps, holds his rackets, walks after the point is over, and even his looks - it's Andy Murray's mini me. Wonder if Andy is his favorite player

I’m guessing Tracy Austin is his favorite player.

What should I do so I can improve my chances of winning service games if the opponent returns deep regularly?

Immediately move back behind baseline after serving.

It depends how good is your foot work and how fast is your reaction. Tennis can be returned before it bounce. No matter it is a deep or short return, If your reaction is fast enough, you can always get the ball if you run close to the net unless it is a high lob.

I’d have to see more returns but my guess is that he was looking for a serve to his forehand and that’s why his off hand slipped up the handle. He’s one of the highest tennis IQ players I’ve seen. That doesn’t mean his technique is perfect. He used to have terrible serve technique and didn’t clean it up until later in his college career. BTW, he had one of the best college coaches ever.

I've spoken with Peter Smith many times. Great guy. Holt does that on every return. I didn't cherry pick... So nothing to do with predicting FH. thanks for watching Mark!

@@2MinuteTennis Played the North South challenge cup on the SoCal team with him a couple years ago. He was #1 for the 55s and I was playing 3/4 for the 65s. I never really talked to him though.

I’m afraid my brain’s reaction time is probably a bit slower I’m afraid. 🤪
