Very nice collection of beginner books Ms. Elizabeth! You’re so correct, once you get the “sewing bug”, gain as much knowledge as you can! Thanks for sharing!

Very interesting!! I love that there is a book about fabrics , the biggest challenge for me is to find the right fabric for the right garment !

Thank you so much for these recommendations! I am trying to get off my phone and into hobbies I love such as sewing. Finding books that I can use is helpful with this, because I don't get sucked into technology and with a book I can stay engaged! This video was lovely and very useful! 💕

Great video. I have the Tilly love at first stitch book. However I passed up the vogue sewing book last week at a thrift store. 😞 and now I wish I wouldn’t have. 😭

Oh no! It's one worth having for sure. Another one is the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing. I didn't put it in this list because the one you want is the vintage one from 1976. It's similar but a little different.

I really like the practice aspect of One Yard Wonders--that and the low barrier entry for working with a new fabrics. It's a chunk of a book and I don't think it's meant to be sewed all the way through from start to finish, but if you were nervous about a new type of fabric and wanted a simple project to build your skills with it, this is a great resource for sure!

None of these particular books deal with that. If that's something you're interested in, I would start with Patternmaking for Fashion Design by Helen Joseph Armstrong
