Boucheron’s Santal de Kandy was a sandalwood fragrance I had an instant reaction to and had to buy immediately. It has a cozy and slightly creamy nuance…but I never hear anyone talk about it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Totally agree about Gris Charnel! ❤

Your love for sandalwood is so apprarent and here I am as someone who doesn't vibe with sandalwood that much still watching the whole thing. I am hoping that gris charnel works for me. What a great and complete Sandalwood list ❤❤❤ I love sandalwood but it has to be sweet!! I fell in love with a bottle of Armani prive Santal Dan Sha and I purchase a Decant and not for me unfortunately but the bottle is gorgeous. I am obsessed with guidance definitely top 2 from the house. IMO 🥰

I think I've commented this on a few of your videos because I'm obsessed, but Santal Carmin by Atelier Cologne is another of my fave sandalwood fragrances! Has that Baccart-y vibe from the saffron. Above and beyond any other creator, your taste is sheer perfection- at least to my nose:) We have similar tastes in notes for sure, so I can pretty much bet on ANYTHING you recommend. Just bought Santal Vanille. LOVE. I would blind buy an Anne recommendation any day ❤️

I agree 100% with you on the Guidance. A total beast mode perfume with a strong sandalwood bomb base. When I tested it I thought the Santal 33 I tested a day or so earlier had remained, or resurfaced on my skin. It is a beautiful scent - but for me, one tiny spray is all I can take. And your Santal 33 description is so spot on. It reminds me of summer hikes on a sweltering day here in the west coast of Canada in a cedar forest. ❤ BTW I am wearing the new Kayali Yum Pistachio today, and I swear it has that sandalwood dry down similar to Guidance. ❤

I love sandalwood and own both Santal 33 and Gris Charnel. Milky Musk I loved on the first spray but after some time it was too cloying and I couldn't stand it. Now I need to try all your other recommendations especially Guidance and Santal Vanille ❤ (I immediately bought Santal Vanille sample). Other sandalwood I own and love are Radio Bombay and Piano Santal

I love santal vanille also but I have to be in the mood for it. It’s really well blended. Santal 33 I am still testing. It was not what I expected at first but on skin it’s interesting. I like it. I may be with you on it though, I’d probably prefer smelling it on someone else.

Hey Anne! So happy to see another video from you. I got Santal Vanille because of your reviews and at first at first all I got was sandalwood and pepper but the more it sat, my nose started to really pick up on the vanilla and coconut. Really love it now, it’s so great to layer on with very gourmand scents to help ground them. Sadly, I’m one of the ones who can’t pick up the iso-e-super, I blind bought sunny side up and had to declutter it lol. Have you tried IF by Frapin? It’s compared to Gris Charnel on fragrantica and it’s cheaper at discounters so I wanted to get your take on it 😊

Santal 33 is my signature scent I have loved it for years! It’s one that I will never get sick of and I always get compliments. It doesn’t smell too masculine on me and I love how dry it is. I think I want to try Gris charnel.

Good ones in here. I had a funny testing experience with Guidance. The opening almost blew it for me but they dry down is gorgeous. 😉❤️

@@AnneLauren I kept the sample card and put it in my backpack and you can still smell it two weeks later!! The dry down is so pretty…even my super picky mom liked it. The opening was very sharp and headache inducing (which never happens). So at that price….I’ll wait for a good sale then revisit. In the meantime, I’ll try spritzing one more time. 😍

This is such an incredible and thorough sandalwood list. I have recently been loving Leather by Malin + Goetz due to how easy it is to throw on and would love your thoughts! You are so good at describing scents and would love your take ☺️

Thank you! It's definitely related to Santal 33, but not as harsh or aromatic. This is a more light, fresh take on the DNA. It has a bergamot note that definitely adds to the fresh quality, and it has bit of a cooling vibe in the opening, but gets warmer as it dries down. Dry, woody sandalwood and cedar, cardamom, elemi, and violet. I'd describe it as perfectly unisex :)

Those are all kinds dill pickles to me, well Santal 33, Santal Vanille and Book. I like those creamy ones and I have Santal Piano, Loewe 001 Woman, Santal Austral (which doesn't smell like sandalwood but it's savory in a good way. And someday I would like to get Santal Basmati..

My favorite sandalwood is Atelier Cologne's Santal Carmin ( or the similar but ridiculously expensive Atelier Versace's Santa Boisé if I had money ) I love that interpretation. Have you tried them ? Greetings from Spain !

I'd be happy to give you my thoughts! - Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple (a simple fragrance. Powdery, creamy, buttery, sandalwood, vanilla. It also has a slight bit of a coconut vibe. That’s it. There’s beauty in its simplicity, this would also be great for layering. It’s soft and chic, calming. Cozy, understated. The vanilla note is soft and addicting, it keeps drawing me in. If the scent has a texture it would be cashmere. This is amazing for a your skin but better scent. Appropriate if you’re sensitive to fragrances, work in healthcare. Don’t expect anything wow factor or crazy because it is a simpler fragrance but it’s lovely. The reason I’m not pulling the trigger on a bottle is that I do detect a hint of that buttery quality which isn't for me.) - Goldfield & Banks White Sandalwood (smells mature. Powdery. Rose, sandalwood, thyme) - Van Cleef & Arpels Santal Blanc (nice! But not personally into the fig, which is a dominant note. Fig, sandalwood, musk. Powdery, soft. Doesn’t really project.) - Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa (very woody. I get a spicy dark rose even though it's not listed. Tinyy touch of fig) - Atelier Materi Santal Blond (I do smell a little resemblance to TF Santal Blush but I like this better, not so kitchen spice like. A dry, creamy sandalwood with hinoki bourbon and green cardamom. Not totally digging the spicy and deep dark aspect of the bourbon. Also detect a little bit of a dill smell. Unisex leaning a little masculine. It’s okay.) - Diptyque Tam Dao EDT (realistic, natural wood. Dry sandalwood, cedar, rosewood, cypress, spices. I want a smidge of vanilla or something. Too linear and simple for me.) These are of course my own opinions and tastes, you may have a different experience, but I hope it helped a little :)

I don’t know if you tried Santal Austral from Matière Première, it’s beautiful 😍

I like it, but I’ve noticed the note combo of sugar and herbal notes don’t agree with me. It’s not too loud, but that sugar/sage combo holds me back from loving it.

Funny enough my nose either developed in a couple of months so quickly or I had a bad day - I did not like Santal 33 at first and the second time I tried it, it was an alluring experience. Not love at first sniff :) I am currently loving Piano Santal since it feels so cozy wearing it :)

perfect!! 😘 I hope you like them! And of course! To me, Sherwood smells like a nutty, creamy sandalwood and oak even though nuts aren’t listed. Maybe it’s the carrot seeds? So that part wasn't for me. I smell zero black currant personally. The florals are very quiet and well blended. Hope that helps a little bit :)

Weirdly, I've fallen for Serge Lutens's Chergui. Sure, there are lotsa other notes but this scent gets no props for being magical, like some others do. Layering it with Orientica's Amber Rouge is lovely.

Anna, I usually like your recommendations and have bought some based on that. Having said that, Iris Malakhan was a huge miss for me. It smells like bad medicine on me. 🙈🙈🙈

I'm so happy to see you talk about your favorite note in fragrances...You know - I was late to the Gris Charnel train because every fragrance I had tried with the note of fig just didn't sit well with me...and tbh I appreciate sandalwood as a base note but I am not crazy about perfumes centered completely around it - that's just me...BUT, I was finally like: "Ugh, FINE! - Let me try it and see what all the dang fuss is about!" And yep! I get what all the fuss is about! What an amazing composition! I feel like it is a masterpiece! So, totally changed my heart on some things. I did want to send a recommendation your way - If you haven't already smelt it: Selperniku by January Scent Project (MY favorite sandalwood fragrance) Now, I am a gourmand freak and also a lover of some pretty Avant Garde fragrances - This smells like eating saltine crackers with butter and apricot jam off of a slab of sandalwood! That's the smell...The dry down is TOTALLY sandalwoody...And it is nuclear! I feel it projects pretty well and lasts for 12 days...LOL! I love it! But, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts Anne...lol! xoxo

Chloe Nomad is nice. Citrusy, fresh, sparkling, with a touch of peach. After about 30 min, it transitions into that classic perfume DNA, I personally find the Absolu version much more special! This is Her is a nice, simple, soft woody, powdery vanilla, musky scent. It's sweet, airy, lactonic from the whipped cream, the wood is very creamy as well and almost comes off like a molecular fragrance note such as iso e super. I don’t personally get the chestnut. I like something a tad more complex and I'm not a fan of the lactonic vibe, which is why it wasn't for me, but I do think it's good.

Is it better vanila sandal zadig voltaire or santal 33 for woman, not too sweet not to musculate

I have! I was this 🤏🏼 close to getting a bottle, but there is a bit of a lactonic creaminess, and 5 hours into the dry down, it smells very similar to Z&V This is Her to me. Great fragrance!! Love love the opening and mid, I'm just sensitive to a lactonic vibe sometimes 😁

@@AnneLauren I'm shooocked, I have never smelled This is Her and it was actually on my wish list (Blanche bete as well) but then I saw one of your videos talking about that lactonic note being weird and I was like hell no, never even ordered a sample lol. Now I guess I could give those a try... I am new to fragrances and my nose is not that well trained :) I really enjoy your content BTW you're partially the reason I blind bought Gris Charnel and it is my absolute favorite!

Love your choices, and I own most of them, but...have you tried Santal Austra by Matiere Premiere? It's truly amazing. Going out on a limb, but I think it's a safe blind buy (don't come for me.)

Thank you! I have! I unfortunately don't get what everyone else seems to be getting from that fragrance. 😩 To my nose, it's sharp, and has this fizzy, piercing quality to it. It also smells sour when I put my nose up to my skin. I don’t experience creamy amazing sandalwood like others. Such a bummer 😩😩 but I'm glad it was a hit for you!
