@@tonycavalieri6841 I don't want to speak for him, but it looks like he may even though it shows on his aspects, the shadow crash and consuming shadows is gone on planner. In video, he mentions to use it due to edgemasters and I am making an assumption those skills are gone now that edgemasters is too (or for the foreseeable future). Also I love that aspect on his dagger, one thing about Rogue, at least we get aspects/stats/buffs from both melee weapons and ranged weapons.

I'm testing a few things so I can rest easy with my choice. I'm leaning towards Aspect of Corruption on the bow, and considering specing into 1 more imbuement skill (because now we can spam with no damage loss)

This edgemaster disabling is making me have to reconfigure things. I'm about to be level 100, and will make an updated shorter version tomorrow. Will be about a 5-6 minute video talking about the changes, and showcasing playstyle.

imo we as Rogues have to do 10x the amount of handwork, gambling and playing the game than the other classes, which is nice but we dont have the same damage as they. Rogue is hard and not worth the effort. I am Level 90.

I completely agree, I've had near best in slot gear (800 ilvl+) since level 70ish just from pure luck on WT4 early on, and as I'm climbing levels I watch Pulv druids just 1 shot every mob in existence while I have to try 5x as hard to get 80% of the output.

@@Valuedx Exactly. And I dont know why I feel like that after investing so much time into this class but the nerfs were unnecessary as a whole. It just made the class even weaker. Lets also not forget that we dont really have an emergency skill which saves our ass. Not even the defence, even with best in slot gems or rolls. Without the nerfs, it was more fun, dont let me get that wrong, I wouldnt have played until 90 if I dont like the class but I stop there and make another one which is "easier".

@@Valuedx to add to that, i would really like to see a few minutes of the build in action at the beginning or end of the video. I know you sprinkled in clips and that was appreciated but i really like to see extended gameplay against both mobs and bosses. It helps to watch the rhythm of the gameplay loop to know if it's something I'd want to try, and if I do end up trying it really helps to have an example of how it should be played. Otherwise fantastic video, I really hope you keep it up! One of the better build explanation videos I've seen so far

I am level 40 or so on a second character. I have been playing with different skills and watching different videos. There are lots of variations of this build, but I think this one makes the most sense. Death trap has a long cooldown and I just don't find myself needing it for the gathering ability that much. Poison trap looks to have better synergy. Thx for vid! Good job!

This build is the most fun Ive had in D4 to date. I enjoyed leveling and grinding with TB/Shadow Imbue, but pushing high NM dungeons was a bit too stressful for me. But now, everything just gets blasted from a screen away lmao xD I think im gonna try getting some elite damage via paragons and test what that does to improve the single target experience. Anyway, @Valued Thank you for putting in the time to create this fantastic set up and making this very helpful video. You earned a new sub!

I agree 100%! I playted DH in D3 and this build somewhat reminds me of it. I tried the TB build like everyone else because those were the only videos i saw, but once i found this build i started to make it. I love ranged may more than melee.

Nice. I've been doing the same thing, poison trap and then I also use vulnerable dazes aspect. In conjunction with crit daze enemy knocks them down talent. It adds a ton of extra cc to the standard pen shot build.

​@Valuedx yeah its a really strong interaction. I leveled as flurry to 45ish and was able to basically sit still and stunlock kill the t3 dungeon that had a broken amount of elites for a few days. When I went pen shot at 60ish it felt so weird not to have the crazy amount of cc. Think it can probably be teched into every rogue build. Stacks really well with the aspect that gives energy for cc on enemy too.

I’m glad range rogue is finally getting some love. Personally I used maxroll’s penetrating shot rogue guide (fundamental arrow, penetrating shot, caltrops, dark shroud, shadow and poison imbues). It was going well but I ended up switching out caltrops for rain of arrows because I got the word of hakan unique amulet that makes my rain of arrows become always imbued with all imbuements. I’ve been enjoying it and I’m level 69 with non max gear (only a few legendaries) and hardly any aspects because I’m too dumb to apply them

Hakan amulet is fun, not particularly good BUT.. it is super fun to use!

Just a suggestion: As the first glyph, use "Ranger", there are more DEX nodes than INT nodes +2 RARE DEX nodes. Ranger - For every 5 Dexterity purchased within range, Marksman Skills deal +20% increased damage. - While wielding a Ranged weapon, you take 10% reduced damage. Add combat in the second board, in which you should select "Exploit weakness" (has more INT nodes than the rest) Combat (Glyph) - For every 5 Intelligence purchased within range, Core Skills deal +6.0% increased Critical Strike Damage. - Skills that Critically Strike restore 12% of their Energy cost. I hope that helps. ^^

I made a build similar to this myself, but with the death trap instead of the shadow imbuement. Just because coolfactor is pretty important to me and its a fun way to suck enemies into the poison trap also taking trap bonuses is fun

My first build featured death trap with Pen shot :) I agree it’s amazing thematically, and it can work - as a word of advice try to get Cooldown reduction on helmet and amulet, because I really wouldn’t swap from combo points to preparation with pen shot

What options for an aspect would you recommend for the crossbow and amulet? other than the ones you already have listed. 2. I picked up the shadow clone, unique gauntlets. And I’m trying to use them. But I am auto deleting the entire screen and bosses as well just about and it seems to never be procking the shadow clone it’s supposed to. Is it because I’m one shot ialmost everything at the level I am. I know it won’t last forever. And the shadow clone a good option for this builder not?

D4 planner is super useful

Been running pen shot since day 1. I went a different route with a few skills but this setup would work as well I suppose. Might give the trap a shot. I feel like my imbues are already up plenty do I'm not sure giving up freezing caltrops is worth it but I'll give it a whirl. I prefer the freeze over crit. It's really the only movement/safety skill I have loaded and it's nice to have a slow/freeze on tap when things get hairy.

I really enjoy the build videos that you've been putting out and I'm curious about your thoughts on an imbuement based flurry build as I've felt too squishy leveling up with pen shot and flurry has felt more fun to play around with than twisting blades, especially after the cooldown reduction hotfix. I do plan to mess around with pen shot more when I get more solidified in nightmare gear.

I think you have my favorite build guide so far on penetrating shot. I like your paragon boards but i had a question as to why no witness isnt on there for the vulnerable glyph

I love playing with this build. I have poison trap switched with rapid fire for single target damage. Poison rapid fire is some of the best single target dps that only uses a few skill points.

Are you not running edgemaster’s aspect then? That combo sounds like not a bad idea but you need alot of energy regen to run it I assume

@@Valuedx I also run rapidfire instead of poison trap, you don't really need more energy regen because with 3 combo points+ poison imbue + rapidfire, the boss or elite will already be dead. Rapid fire has less energy cost than Penetrating shot anyway, and you don't spam it you only use it for bosses or when trying to burst one elite down.

I run the same and love it. so powerful. you can try infiltrator aspect and drop 4 poison trap in stealth mode then you get imbue back so you can cast 6 imbued shots. its very good against bosses (health bar drop like crasy when they're in 4 poison traps and get shot by 4 poison imbue).also 4 poison traps you knock a whole screen down and get the crit boost. i personnally prefer forceful arrow i fact its a lot better as a basic combo skill. try also heartseeker as shado imbue and concealment can put vulnerable very often without puncture or forceful. its pretty fast and gives a lot of dps boost

The trap idea sounds really fun, I’ll have to look into it. As for basic skills, all 3 work fine. It’s all about your preference. I play this build fast paced, so I’m not standing far away enough to use forceful arrow. Plus I just prefer puncture in general it feels so fun to use haha.

I run the same exact build but instead of poison trap, I have rapid, I think that without it you lack single target damage, with that little change you melt bosses in an instance, try it out!

Quick question when you use penetrating shot what’s causing all of the other enemies to become vulnerable?

I have my own build I am running, and it is similar to this. I run Rapidfire instead of poison trap. I feel like with penetrating shot and imbuements I already 1 shot aoe most groups of enemies anyway, so rapidfire helps to pick up the slack on boss fights or any time you need to kill one priority target. Poison imbue+ rapidfire is a one shot on most elites, and I either 1 shot or 2 shot bosses. I don't have really any cc, so I run movement speed on amulet and I have the chilling trail boots. I am smashing all content up to 11 or so levels higher than me. Rapidfire really adds versatility to the build, I highly recommend.

What setting turns on those notifications on the exp tracker like gained precision?

I'm using the items that combine with the dark veil skill, but at the moment I'm not using the atk speed passive, the damage is quite high, but defensively I still don't know which is the best combination to be more resistant to damage

Great video man. I‘d love to ask you how we should go about progressing through if we‘re still on T3? Just look for all the Sub Skills you have and pray to RNG or what‘s recommended? I switched from the trapper build since i got bored of it and I’m really enjoying this ranged build. My only problem in wt4 nightmares im really squishy and the sustainability feels kinda lacking compared to melee. Any tips? Would dark shroud be a good replacement for concealmeant

get temerity, having a 80% barrier up all time helps you from being 1 shot just enormouse amount of times and it comes from your overheal maxlife with potions that you can spam.

So i just looted windforce. Any thoughts on how to run it with this? U talk about the crossbow

I'm playing a barrage build but most of my build is similar to this except I'm taking cold imbuement over poison for the additional CC.

@@Valuedx I watched that video and it was very helpful. I have a good understanding of secondary stats from some other games but the item power is what throws me off in D4. Does the item score just dictate the range of rolls for stats?

@@TheMajorTool1 Sorry I didn't get back to this until now; the range rolls are determined by the ilvl, yes. So if I found a chest at power level 500 for example, it may have 5-10%, but a chest at 600 would have (lets say) a 10-15% range. That's why if you find a piece with increased level, it most often times will be an upgrade until your gear is pretty solid and you're looking for min-max upgrades.

So where did the image for the thumbnail come from if you don't mind saying?

You should rotate the board counterclockwise, then work bottom to left side. It takes you 8 nodes to get to the fundamentals nodes, and on the top side it only takes you 5 to get to the finisher nodes, It would save you 3 nodes. Also I've never been to crazy about Marksman key passive. Unless your keeping track of it and making sure Penetrating shot is being used at full stacks, you may be wasting your guaranteed crit/extra crit damage on a punture, because that is a marksman ability too. Victimize or Exposure might be better.

I agree with you on the key passive change. I should have mentioned it in the video, but I run marksman because I do pay attention to it. But to your point, in a video like this (where people may be taking my choices as fact rather than contemplating things) I should of gone into depth on that. But between Victimize and Exposure, IMO Victimize would be the king.

I just got a helmet that has health back on victimize Lucky hit. I was just thinking of switching to this key passive to test it out. Seems like a good option

I'm having trouble getting any Abstruse Sigils to make the Trickshot aspect. Anyone got any tips?

I started rogue as my 1st character to be an Archer/Ranger.. but felt like my damage was never as good as Twisted Blades builds.. so I eventually re-speced over to TB, and later on Trapper. Damage and clearing speed is amazing, but It's not giving me the enjoyment I thought it would. Now watching a few of your vids, showing that there is a viable ranged build, I'm definitely re-specing once I get a few gear pieces.. Thanks for your vids! Keep up the good work, you have a great potential! Also a D4 planner would be amazing, if not I'll make my own from your video.

PLEASE HELP!! If I hit someone and it applies vulnerability. Does that hit also get the vulnerability amp or is it only the hits after they are already vulnerable.

This video was recorded before they nerfed the paragon glyps. Look how his rare nose increases by 95% and it’s only 25% now. Which also means all of his other glyphs were 50-80% better as well.

No you have to level up your glyphs by doing nightmare dungeons. It starts out at 25.

I'm not sure what their board looks like, if their on maxroll I would assume their board is also good! I would imagine the differences stem from valuing different damage buckets in the build. My paragon board indexes hard into the imbuement damage, meaning outside of imbuements my damage suffers, but inside imbuement windows my damage is being amplified as much as possible. I would say if you're looking at a different paragon board, there are likely skill/passive changes throughout the skills that also reflect the board choices.

How would you value Ranks of Poison/Shadow Imbuement. I have been getting Helms with +2 and not sure how to value. Still the Max Energy/Resource Regen/Dexterity/CD Reduction over that?

They are good! The extra ranks are nice to have. I personally have +4 shadow on my helmet.

You need to be careful not to dump your energy. The idea is explained early in the video, but when you go into combat this is the order -> generate 3 combo points with generator skill -> activate imbuement -> (optional) drop poison trap for reset chance -> fire pen shot. If you’re following that rotation you shouldn’t be running out of energy.

why didn't you rotate the third board to get to the glyph sooner?

Been running barrage first, switched to penetrating shot, struggled with some bosses, switched to your rapid fire build... killing some bosses within a few seconds and now re-testing the penetrating shot build. I don't know why, but I don't clear much faster with this build than with the rapid fire build but still struggle with single bosses.

I think this build clears quite slowly honestly, had a better time with the barrage one... maybe try rapid fire

I really want to try this build but I’m only level 34 on my rogue and its just so slow leveling up solo with my limited playtime. Looks amazing

It’s funny I kinda theorized a build like this on my way to work today, but I didn’t think of using Puncture instead of Forceful Arrow for the combo point generation. Everything else looks awesome though. I’ll probably switch to this at 50

Have you gotten the rain of arrows amulet yet? Lol cause, when you do, try it and shadow imbue that opener once they are all vuln. Its so cool

I've tried it, and it's AMAZING - but the problem is the cooldown on RoA. And giving up your amulet slot (which allows us 2 aspects getting increased % values) is a really big DPS loss, although RoA is so much fun with the Word of Hakan.

Hey, how can you farm to get those arms witth those extra points?? Or is it rng.

You upgrade the gear at the blacksmith, for every upgrade the item gets +5 Item Power. This is very useful if you are close to a new item tier threshold since the parmeters will increase a lot when you reach it (Example Item Power 725) so if you get a item Power item with 700 you can get it to 725 with upgrading it. But mostly you upgrade it when you have a very good item in slot 😁

I decided to switch from twisting blades to this, wanted to try ranged. But I am getting absolutely pummeled. My health drops so quickly. Obviously my gear is probably not great, but should I just try to pump my defenses up? Struggling to figure out how to play this

How do you use yhe ultimate ability with this setup? You already have 6 abilities non of them is ultimate?

You could swap it for poison trap that would be your best skill to switch around

I'm running Puncture at the moment switching from Forceful arrow, and It's really a different playstyle! I switched because of Condemnation, but I feel like It's pretty hard to keep track of when the ability of 3 instant points kick in. And I also feel like it messes up the timings on my imbuement so sometimes I just have to spam Puncture and Pen. Shot without any imbuements. I'm running Death trap at the moment after using Caltrops all the way up to level 62. Because I really like that it groups them up for easier pen.shot. Reseting the Imbuements with Poison trap seems amazing though and could solve those moments when the 'rotation' is put off because both Imbuements being on CD! Sorry for writing a book here, but I would love your thoughts on how to work around Condemnation and keeping energy constantly high! Amazing video!

So when you run 2 imbuments … are you alternating between the two or are you activating both at the same time ?

Sorry it took me a bit to get to this! First off, don’t apologize for writing a book - I love reading people’s thoughts about the class. I do agree about Condemnation, I always use Puncture 3 times, it’s almost impossible to keep track of the secondary benefit working for you. But, the 40% core damage modifier on the dagger is what we’re after to synergies with our Pen Shot.

To keep energy high, you shouldn’t be using pen shot without an imbuement. With edge master aspect there’s a diminishing return when using Pen Shot too often. IE if I can use 3 extra pen shots (with no imbuement)but they’re all sub 50% energy losing 20% damage, it’s more worthwhile to use that time to group enemies, or reposition.

I’ve spent a lot of time playing Demon hunter in Diablo 3, so this kind of playstyle is very familiar to me, but here’s my closing tip: Think of penetrating shot as a big BOOM! Rather than a constant damage source. And how can we maximize our boom? By grouping enemies, and ensuring we’re always using combo points.

I like it. Do you run into any elite affix barriers in WT4?

There are some that are problematic yes! Suppressor is really bad for this build, any ‘Enemy attacks lower your energy’ affixes are hard too.

@@schism3472 Ahh this comment hurts my heart. I want Windforce and Sky Hunter to be good. SO BADLY! But, the problem with those bows is the fact that crossbows (with the guaranteed vulnerable damage % roll) are just so much more damage. So with the current unique properties on those bows, they sadly just don't make up the damage you lose from replacing a crossbow. So that's a longer version answer, but short version answer: sadly not :(

I appreciate video about different build than twisting blades, finally something different and interesting to watch, but calling this "by far best rouge build" is a bit controversial. Ye, u got clear, but not clear speed. You got dmg, but seems like boss fight would be a hassle (unless you got a boss fight video that i missed?). Great content anyway, keep it up :)

So how should i be using shador/poison imbument? Shadow por packs and poison for single target?

Both work for both situations. Poison generally is stronger on bosses, so you should use it first to cycle cooldowns.

great build; trying it out now, but I just don't have the gear for this, or I'm not gearing properly. hate to say it, but unfortunately I am going to have to stick to my flurry/poison/shadow setup for a while longer until I can get better stuff.

The only 2 aspects you need 100% for this build to start working are trickshot and corruption :) Any source of Vulnerable damage is a plus

What should i use "daggers knifes or swords". And what bow should i use normal one or crossbow ?

Swords and Crossbows. The reason is because of their guaranteed stat rolls. Crossbow has Vulnerable, Sword has crit damage.

Don’t spam the ability. And if you’re really having problems you should consider resource regeneration on boots or amulet

techinally if you want good passive energy get the Dodge + Energy reg Aspect. Also I think Frost might be better then poison

Energy isn't that much of a problem, I think if you invest that much into it you're going overkill. Like I highlighted, we only use our spender in sync with our imbuement skills so energy isn't a huge problem. Cold imbuement is a fine option, and synergizes well with Penitent Greaves. I personally prefer poison for the DoT damage. The poison will often finish enemies off so I can move on faster, but to each their own.

Hey Valued, you should try out Rapid Fire with the ricochet legendary. Cunning Stratagem + Eldrich Bounty, double imbuements (poison and shadow) and some stunbreak. It has some issues with clearing out champion packs with ridiculous dr, and aoe is kinda bad - thus the shadow imbuement usage, but any elite that gets in the way is blown away in a couple hit of the attack. Bosses become a joke with poison imb. + 3 combo, two imbued attacks usually remove the entire hp bar of the boss with the poison dot. Oh yea, and Condemnation unique dagger for an additional combo generation/damage multiplier.
