    Production monitors are a small price to pay to keep bodies away from the physical camera setup as well as offer a common place for a creative "jam session".

    My shinobi 7 cost more. Great monitor, but it’s nice to have one that cost sub 1k that can be used to make someone else more comfortable and keep people away from the main setup. 3 grand is tough pill to swallow for many smaller production units but this one strikes just right.

    Hi there, with your backlight 100% turned up do you get much edge bleeding? I ordered one & had really bad bright spot in the corner & colour bleeds in the bottom edge - I've returned for exchange, but wonder if this is just something these monitors have being lower end, have you experienced or tested bleeding?

    So the front has Ch 1, Ch 2, Ch 3, and Ch 4 buttons. 2 SDI and 1 HDMI. "Video in" looks exactly like SDI, so I'm guessing you can run 3 SDI signals and 1 HDMI signal into this monitor at once? Also curious if you're able to do a quad or side by side display? Assuming not. Assuming you could push each Ch button for each input and view one at a time. Thanks for the video. This is an interesting option.

    Has anyone heard of the Laina brand for lens adapters? I found this MFT to PL for 114 euro on aliexpress, a guy in a live discussion told me he had one EF to FD from Laina and it worked just fine. If I get it what could I do to test it? Would you trust it? I'm buying it mainly to start renting some PL lenses for my BMPCC4K since they don't always provide me with an adapter.

    Hey… That was my fist decent camcorder … I loved it. Unfortunately it got stolen like 3 years ago. Buy, it was expensive back in the days. I still own my LA7200 because of this little bugger.

    The Jackass camera. This one was used quite a lot in their first film. I shot some Much Music spring break on this thing in 05 which was fun! Shitty it got stolen, just recently used it for some vignettes for a 90’s doc series I’m cutting. Can’t believe it’s still getting used all these years later 😆

    Wish I had seen this last month. Now only $155.77 off. $760 something would have been worth the risk. Glad to hear it is sharp enough for focus pulling. I just wish it were brighter. 1000 nit would be perfect. I've been using a Bon 15", and being able to see it in direct sun is great; using it on a jib, I don't always have the room for a proper sun shade, and the included case/shade looks too big for that use.

    Ya that makes sense. Not sure 200 makes a massive difference If I’m honest but you shouldn’t have to settle. Likely keeping the price down and not stamping on their 21 inch 1500 nit. 760 is a good price absolutely

    Just use a short name for the Lut, long or complicated names can't be load on this or some others monitors. A regular .cube 17x or 33x lut works for me. The USB was FAT.

    The monitor looks very enticing. I’m curious about it for a potential focus pulling monitor. It’s good to know the latency is minimum. What’s the quality of the screen like? And how good are it’s focus monitoring options?

  • @MarkHoltze

    @MarkHoltze

    If you're plugged in it's instant, you can easily focus pull, but have the burden of the cable system to worry about. I was wireless and as long as you have a decent transmitter and relatively clean area I don't see why you can't pull focus on this. I would do it in a heart beat, of course some skill on the behalf of the first AC is going to be required and a general good sense of the blocking all around, but I would absolutely rely on this a a focus pulling system. Screen is fantastic, no issues there, it's not too big to be a burden but gives you loads of real estate for clear viewing vs the 5 or 7inch. Peaking options are there, but i don't personally like to go by peaking. With my daughter pushing the slider I messed up on the first two tries (zero blocking) and nailed it every time after that.

    @@MarkHoltze Awesome. Yeah I'm looking to seek out a nice focus pulling setup sometime at years end and I think this monitor would be a solid substitute from say, a SmallHD, which are great.

  • @MarkHoltze

    @MarkHoltze

    Wireless transmitter is key there. Small HD are good as well, I see a lot of those on union productions for first AC’s but the big purchase there is the teradek wireless , which are like 3 grand. But I like the size of this one. I have a 7 inch atomos for my camera monitor and the 15 makes a big diff without being obnoxiously big

    Nice review. Pity u didnt do a bright daylight test without the hood. Really want to see how it performance with 800 nits. In fact most reviewers didnt do it and only show it with the hood.

  • @MarkHoltze

    @MarkHoltze

    Demonstrating the 800 in bright sunlight through camera isn’t an accurate demonstration, besides it’s winter here and the sun doesn’t come out lol. But seriously it’s not an accurate demonstration, our eyes are much more sensitive to higher contrast settings than a camera lens. You ideally wouldn’t use this uncovered in the direct sunlight anyway. I would never and haven’t with this unit. The cover is good not only for the more accurate monitoring but element protection as well.

    Just a basic rec 709 correction from Red raw. It’s nice because that’s all internal, so set camera and colour type and bam. You can also send the signal out from the camera so works either monitor or camera specific. Nothing is baked just for review.
