    Hey kiddo, I have photographs from all over the country. I took while on motorcycle trips, they were all taken with that little RX100 and when I showed him to people they all think it was taken with my full frame camera. I was able to get those photos because I always had the camera with me. Godspeed!

    it is a great little carry everywhere camera for sure. it has some limitations that fuji and ricoh don’t have but that zoom range makes up for it to me personally. it takes all the pressure off. i took 90% of my favorite photos of 2022 on this camera. thanks for watching and for the kind words!

    loved you video and comments on why you opted for the RX100VII. I recently gave all my Full frame kit apart from the A6300 amf 2 lenses to my daughter as lugging am AR7II and all the lenses, tripod, filters etc on any trips was just making things a chre not a pleasure. I now use my RX100VII for 90% of my photograpy. Kited out with the lensmate 52mm filter adapter I can have the same range as I had with my full frame but it all including filters and tripod etc fits in a single and small shoulder bag. For normal everyday carry I can have nust the camer and spar battery in a pocket. I am taking more photos not what I have for a long time. The passion for photagraphy has returned.

Next, as a fellow rx100 vii owner, i couldn’t agree more with your points! For my private stuff I just cut everything down to the RX100 VII and the Canon G5X MKII. Same reason like you said. You get to a point when it's just enough. The RX100VII is an extremely versatile tool. I call these tools as they work also perfectly as back up when you shoot professional. But is the Sony the best compact ever?! I would tend to say no as it is the G5X MKII. This is a photographers tool. It's 24-120mm F1.8-2.8 generates easily blurry backrounds. Way easier than with the Sony. The lens isn't perfect but it's range combined with the brightness is so special, it's like a little marvel. Take to an event as back up camera and you will just love it. It let's you play with the DOF. The thing is, the Sony is perfect in terms of tech. It's super fast, it records 4k till the card is full, the AF is out of this world and you would say, this must be the best compact. Than you take the Canon with it's sluggish AF system, crippled in so many ways by Canon as they know, this camera would be to good and you instantaneously feel, that this is still the better camera for photographers. Might sound stupid, but it is what it is. I gave this little thing on a two days corporate event to my co-photographer and said to him, just try it. After some hours I have to remind him, to also use the big Sony. You really get addicted to the Canon it's just to conveniend.

Recently, I've been testing the Xperia 1 V and I've got to say it's the best camera on a phone yet. That will be a purchase I make. It's that great of a camera.

    Great video, thanks for making it! I am in a similar situation, choosing between the Fujifilm x100vi and the Sony. I am leaning towards the latter for the compactness and functionality that the zoom lens brings, but I doubt about the Fujifilm for the better sensor (also thinking of low light), the excellent profiles in the camera, and maybe a bit for the cool aesthetics. It's useful to hear about your experience with the Sony!

    I have the A73, A7S3 and the rx100m7 and the camera I reach for the most is the rx100. The versatility and size can't be beat. If I had of bought the RX100m7 first its possible I may not have bought the other two based on my needs. So I do need a good zoom camera that is easy to operate and ready to go. Just have 3 questions, is there any overheating issue with this camera with shooting 4k videos? How is the image stablization in this camera while walking and talking videos? Comparing this to ZV1, which one do you recommend the most?

  • @ChristianElia

    thanks so much for the kind words! i will be honest, i don’t use this camera for video so i can’t really speak on the features of it. it is purely a photo camera for me. if you were planning to do a good bit of video, i would probably go with the ZV1. you will have better low light capability and the flip out rotating screen which is a big plus. if you can live without the flash, viewfinder and long zoom then the ZV1 is better for doing occasional video. however, the RX100 wouldn’t be bad for video, just not as good in low light. if you won’t be doing low light stuff a lot and you want that long zoom range then you still can’t go wrong with the RX100

    sony and third parties make a pretty cool handle for this camera that allow you to zoom/record from the handle so the filming experience is a bit better. i really only use this camera for photo. ive tried doing some simple video with it but it’s not great doing it handheld so ive been looking into getting one of those controller handles. i think it could work well for that use case though as long as it isn’t too dark in there. if your ax53 can handle it i’m sure the RX100 can! id actually love to get a smaller camcorder for casual family stuff

    I'm on the same boat right now. Looking to buy my first camera. I really want that "pocketable" feature, and Ill be using it mostly for family trips and concerts. Used my iphone 12 pro for a concert few weeks back and I was kinda disappointed. The shots were super grainy and had lots so much details, I wasnt that far from the stage so I just did a little zooming. I'm torn right now between the GR3x/FujiXE4/SonyRXVII. One of the main reasons is that I really like that fuji "film" look (Im not sure if its an editing thing or do only fuji cameras do that kind of simulation). But the zoom of the sony really impresses me too. (edited my comment as it was all over the place hahaha)

  • @ChristianElia

    @ChristianElia

    Жыл бұрын

    i have been extremely happy with the sony since buying it. i will say, however, the photos require some editing to make them pop. I do not like the look of the photos straight out of camera. i also really enjoy the film vibes of the fuji, and i have developed a preset for my personal tastes that i really like a lot once i use it on the sony images. it makes the pictures have that sort of film vibe. you'll have to be careful using the sony in low light. once you zoom in and are shooting at f4, it starts to get hard to get higher quality images. you can comfortably push the sony to about 1600 iso or 2000 but beyond that it gets very noisy. but again, im not using this for professional work. just memories and daily photos which i think its perfect for once i edit the photos. it is such a convenient camera. let me know if you have any other questions, i know it can be a hard decision!

    @@ChristianElia Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I do have another question, might sound a bit dumb apologies as I'm still getting into the world of photography. Do you think the Fuji X100/XE4's zoom will suffice for mid range zooming or is a standard 28mm very limited on the zooming? Because the concert is really one of the main factors for me I guess asides from family trips. I'm not always on the front row, a bit on the middle-front ish. And its a wee bit dark. Another is that Ive always been doing the "take a photo" while video recording feature on my phone. Is that possible on the sony or is the best thing I can do is to take a frame out of the video I've recorded? (And is that going to be on par with taking a photo from the camera?) And lastly, since im kind of leaning on the sony side now. I think I saw a big sale on the RX VI model, in your opinion do they have a very big difference? I saw their specs on paper but im not super familiar with photography terms yet 😢 But after watching your video, I guess what I want in a camera is "compact" "flexible on lowlight situations" "capable of zooming", maybe for the film look I'd have to start studying the editing side. I'm sorry for the long essay of questions, im just kind of lost but not really hahaha. Thank you so much once again! 😄

  • @ChristianElia

    @ChristianElia

    @@supermassivedonut no worries at all! you will be the most limited with x100. i think that camera is a great daily carry, but will not be ideal for something like a concert unless you just like the look of some of the crowd being in it. the x-e4 has the option to pair other lenses with it, so i think i would choose that over the x100. it will give you more room to grow with the camera if you ever decide you want more lenses. and you get a lot of the same features as the x100 so i think its a win win. there shouldnt be much difference between the VI and the VII. the image quality, lens and everything will be the same. its mainly autofocus features and a couple of video features that set it apart. i never use it for video, so im not sure if you can take a photo while recording video. you can take a frame from a video you recorded, but it will not be nearly the same quality as a photo you took. but, for social media sharing and posting online, it should be fine. hope this helps!!

I like that film look but the sony's compactness and zooming capability is too hard to let go hahaha

  • @ChristianElia

    @ChristianElia

    i was the exact same way. i was very drawn to the fuji look but the zoom and pocketable form factor was for me. you can definitely get a look thats pretty close in lightroom if you know what you're doing. i came up with a preset that took me a while to tweak just right but i get a look now thats very satisfying. regarding darker areas, unfortunately the camera doesnt do super well. when youre zooming in and hit f4.5, its just hard to get crisp images. i'd say the ISO is usable up to about 2000 bwfore it starts looking bad. you can definitely get decent results, but not quite like you'd get from an ASPC sensor on a fuji. thats why i wanted a camera with a flash, though. i like that disposable camera look with bright flash in dark areas, so it works for me in dark areas when i dont have to zoom much. you could also look at the RX100 V which has a 24-70 1.8-2.8 lens instead of the 24-200 2.8-4.5 lens. so it will do decently better in the dark, you just wont have as much zoom range. you could also look at the sony ZV-1 for this and it will be much cheaper, you just don't get the viewfinder and flash on the ZV-1. i regularly post photoshoots i take with this camera on my tiktok page @eliajuwon if you want to check out the film-like edits i make. the past 5 or 6 photography videos i've posted on there have been with the RX100 VII. hope this helps!

  • @ChristianElia

    @ChristianElia

    Жыл бұрын

    megapixels are normally the least of my concerns. i do photography mainly for fun and share mostly to social media where no amount of megapixels matter after compression. that being said, the photos look great and the main difference in image quality between a phone can be seen when simply zooming in and cropping. phone photos completely fall apart when you crop or zoom in or try to make large prints. megapixels on a phone sized sensor are also much different than on a 1” sensor like the RX100. you just get a lot more data. also the zoom range sets it in a different league than phones entirely. if you’re regularly cropping your photos heavily or making very large prints, megapixels may matter more to you. i’ve really enjoyed what i’ve gotten out of this camera so far!
