What an exciting match! BERRI SWEET and AmSoGood have been battling at $50/$100 on PokerStars crossbooked 6x (Real stakes $300/$600!) for the past couple months now, and the clash of styles has been a treat to rail.
BERRI SWEET has had success at almost every variation of heads-up poker, and nearly ran out of challengers.
After working his way through the ranks of PLO 6-max games, heads-up no limit hold ‘em, heads-up 8-Game, and heads-up H.O.R.S.E, BERRI SWEET has used his exploitative style to crush the heads-up Pot Limit Omaha streets!
AmSoGood, on the other hand, is a PLO player through and through. Aside from being one of the endbosses of high stakes heads-up PLO, AmSoGood is also a beast 6-max Omaha player.
When it comes to style, AmSoGood is the player Phil considers to be the most accurate or close to GTO.

Since I’ve seen this comment a few times: No, I don’t suspect AmSoGood is using RTA. I want to clear this up because I would hate for this video to create undeserved rumors about a great player. I’ve played enough with him to be quite confident that he’s playing honestly, plus, they are playing on PokerStars who has excellent RTA detection.

Phil, I've been wathcing some of your stream vs Jungle, and it looks to me that you very rarely donk flop or turn. Do you not implement a flop/turn donk strategy to simplify your game tree?

@@ivanwong8281 donking does not simplify the gametree, it makes it more complicated. you have to balance your checking and your donkingrange. unless you want to donk 100% in some spots which seems kinda ill advised.

In the AJ37 hand on KT29, the tiny bet feels like a classic block bet that you get in Holdem these days - where you still have a range advantage so want to put a bit of money into the pot but now lack the nut advantage. And it becomes a nice exploitative line too where you get to see a cheap showdown with some hands like the one he has that would have to fold the turn to any reasonable sizing. 1/3 pot like you said you might do (and what i would do) just seems like too expensive for what the bet is trying to achieve.

It's like bodybuilding without steroids, if you don't use it you will be crushed by someone who does. Even if one can challenge people in live games or camera setups, there is a high chance the foundation of their skills is from muscle memory eith RTA.

Good catch Zach and Dori. I'm not a vision expert, but I think you actually can't choose the color/suit of the board. But Phil analyses AJ65 two spades (ace high spades), two hearts on 732 two spades, one heart. On the hand he looks up in vision, the 2 red cards on the board match the ace high suit (red) so it is the correct hand to look up. It is confusing the first time you see that.

Hey Phil, I am following you for years now, played on Run it Once, great site (too bad it was closed), anyway, I started to play PLO HU and I really want to get better at it. I want to learn how to beat limpers or players who raise like 50% of the hands on BTN. where can I find the PLO HU Coaching material? Thank you in advance : - )

Thank you! I have a course on runitonce.com called This Is PLO, dedicated mostly to HU, but it’s very expensive ($2499). Doing a giveaway for it right now on Twitter: twitter.com/philgalfond/status/1649824141900492804?s=46&t=_Y-locL4E93VzfTremkR0w Enter that!

Curious question: Back then BerriSweet play HU with Linus on both NL and PLO how was the result of that match? Also Phil, when it comes to NL how you rank Linus, Trueteller, Stefan, Limitless, with BerriSweet if they play HU?

My understanding is that Linus stopped playing against him and BERRI has challenged the entire world and basically any game with very few takers. I’m worse than all of them at NL. I haven’t played NL seriously in 15yrs or so. Would love a challenge to learn though!

Berri's identity is pretty weird, noone i know here in Sweden knows who it is, some people claim they are 90% sure its between 2 guys but noone really knows. Everyone in Sweden knew who Isilidur1 was maybe a year before the rest of the world knew, atleast mid-highstakes players, but noone is sure about Berri and its been 15 years by now. Its good that noone knows because if his identity would come out he would be at very high risk of robberys, Sweden is terrible at this time.

Players who have held the online PLO End Boss title at some point IMO are Patrick Antonius, David Benyamine, Yours Truly, Ben86, Sauce 123 and BERRISWEET and for the overall title i'd say that Ben86 edges out BERRI due to his longevity

I'm a little surprised to see Berri's red line performance. As more of an exploitative player the relationship between his red and blue line would usually be the inverse of what is shown in that graph?

  • @PhilGalfond

I’d have expected BERRI to be winning in redline, too, but it doesn’t always have to go that way for the exploitative player.
