    Just now bought the above compressor at Napa here in Prescott, AZ. I like what I see so far. But I examined the tapped compressor connection on the aluminum coupling tube and found it to be 27 threads per inch.....conveniently the same as 1/8 NPT so I ran an 1/8 NPT tap into it and provided the proper angular tap ( it was a straight tap before). Then I applied a bit of blue loctite on the threads of the 1/8 MNPT to 1/4 MNPT adapter and was able to tighten it with a crescent wrench and not hack the black plastic hole in the least. If the aluminum coupler is drilled and tapped for a 1/4 NPT from the getgo then there will not be enough meat to get a hold of on the universal air output coupler. With the new coupler on the compressor now my air hose that I have been using for years will now fit on this new Napa 10.6 CFM awesome compressor. I am now throwing out that POS Napa hose with dial readout in the trash. FYI

    I have the All Top variant of this compressor...same thing, different name and probably manufactured in the same factory. I removed the hose and drilled/tapped for a 1/4 NPT connection, added a 2" long pipe nipple and a tee with 2 quick connect fittings. Also got rid of the circuit board and replaced with a 200A relay for more reliability. Replaced the power leads with #4AWG wire and an Anderson connector, which I connect to a mating connector mounted on the front push bar...never need to open the hood. So I guess the warranty is shot. 😀 I may give the HF case a try...looks nice and tidy.

    Brandon, thanks for posting this vid on the Napa compressor. You could help a lot of us with a "how to modify" the compressor like you did. I'm guessing the pressure relief valve is the key to preventing failure long term? I'm wondering if an in-line manual bleed valve would be a work around too? Thanks

  • @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    7 ай бұрын

    Yes, the pressure valve allows the compressor to turn off automatically at a reasonable psi. Without it, it will continue to run, even when not hooked up and will eventually fail, probably due to overheating caused by the excess pressure and heat build up. A manual relief valve is unnecessary. Just empty the line with a blow attachment or unhook the air line. Thanks for watching.

    Dude, ok short story. I was looking for a case or tote this past weekend for the wife's sunglasses, she just leaves em around and they scratch or break and I buy her nice ones so fk that! I looked into getting her the Yeti day traveler so she could keep some in there but that case is ass and it's 80$ so I came across good ol Harbor Freight! I was thinking on going this weekend to check out the three cases I saw online but you sir once again sold me in something! I was planning on buying the mid size 30$ in black so thanks man, and ohh yeah the compressor is pretty gnarly for it's size and is without exaggeration faster than the air machine at my local Shell station!

    What's up, JC! These Pelican-styled cases from Harbor Freight are really nice and they are prefect for storing things that need a little protection, but won't be living 24/7 outside in the elements. They are really well constructed and are very solid. They will definitely be able to protect your wife's sunglasses, and another cool thing about them is that they come full of foam. So if you want, you can cut the foam to match the item your storing. Very cool. Thanks so much for always watching.

    I added the 90/125 pressure cut off switch and US quick connects, and a single hose to fill tires. Yes, I could do the 4 tire air up, but for $100 i was able to buy all the parts for the pressure switch, hose and air gun to air up and air down, the 4 tire system that i was looking at cost $160, that was just the hose hook up, i can walk around and do all 4. Plus i added a quick connect wiring harness that hooks into my winch harness so that i don't have to hook on to the battery.

    Nice!! I honestly don't understand the obsession with airing all 4 tires up at one time. I hear all the KZreadrs bragging about it on their channels. Unless you are running 40's, it really shouldn't take too long to air your tires up individually. Thanks for commenting!

    I bought the same compressor from Napa based on the all the review from Jeep people. I'm betting that all the dual piston compressors that you see on Amazon are coming from the same manufacture, they all look the same other then paint. I have not done the pressure switch update yet but will soon, we used this a few weeks ago while running Hot Springs Offroad park, did great on our 35" on our Jeeps. Well worth the money.

    I have the same size tires on my Tacoma and it takes me about 40 to 42 seconds per tire to go from 15 psi to 33 psi with the engine running. The only mod I did was to change the shader screw tip end to a quick connect, every thing else is the same as it came out the box. Do you think all the mods like the pressure switch are having an effect on the difference in times? I’m thinking about adding the pressure switch but not if it will slow it down. Or maybe the difference was because your test run was with out the engine running ?

  • @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    4 ай бұрын

    I doubt the issue is the pressure switch. Probably just my truck being off for the test. I didn't have it on in the video to help keep the noise down, but your engine should always be running when using the compressor. I also wouldn't worry about a couple of seconds. It's not a race, and you only would be done a minute quicker than me filling all 4 tires. 🤷🏻

    I love the build. I wonder if the original hose connection to the aluminum manifold/bar was designed to avoid the connection being snapped off accidentally. Once you tapped it with the larger connector do you worry that pulling on the hose could snap or pull out the new connector?

  • @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    The original hose was absolute trash. The thing got super hot after the compressor was running for only a couple of seconds. I don't have any worries about breaking off the new hose fitting because I'm careful around my stuff. Could it break? I guess. Maybe if you dropped the compressor or something, but then again most things will break if you abuse them. Thanks for watching!

    I bought the pressure switch using the link you shared - and it doesn’t seem to fit the threads? The threads on the switch look closer together than the threads on the removed hose. Do the sell the 1/8 pressure switch with 20 threads per and 18 threads per? I know they sell two different taps for 1/8 NPT - 18 and 20 threads…. I can get the 1/8 pressure switch to turn almost two turns before it binds, and yet the old hose connector just fists smoothly all the way in… :/ I can find any specs on the 1/8’switch that says which thread size - so does NPT have a standard thread size?

    Or maybe I just need to fully commit with a wrench vs using my fingers to screw in the pressure switch? The air hose with fully screw in via fingers, but he switch will not… I thought I would post first vs potential stripping the soft aluminum threads if I’ve got something wrong…

    What’s the duty cycle on this compressor? Also those pressure switches are notoriously cheap and fail. You should also add a mechanical relief valve rated slightly higher than the switch 15-20 psi or so higher.

    I really don’t understand what you meant by “pull the alligator clips under the manifold to make it fit” I’m staring at mine with the cover off and it looks like the only way to make mine fit is to take the manifold + heads, remove them, and switch sides so the 1/8” hole is now next to the board in the open area. • @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    @ExtremeDailyDrivers

    5 ай бұрын

    You might have to watch the video again or pause it. I don't know that I can explain it any clearer. There isn't room for the pressure switch because of the alligator clips orientation so you have to relocate them. They way I did that was by sending them to the other side of the compressor. You don't have to remove the manifold or heads. Good luck.

    If you don't install the pressure switch, the compressor will continuously run once hooked up to the car battery. So the twin compressors will be building up pressure even when not filling a tire. This will cause excessive heat and will probably shorten the life of the compressor. Thanks for watching!
