I've never had any problems with the animation for One Piece since I started watching, and that's not going to change now. But you can really tell that Toe upped their game on this arc. It almost makes me wonder if they were saving their skills for this arc in particular since the Punk Hazard arc started.

No. Not how that works. A lot of names in modern one Piece are pretty old faces. There was just a change in what appears to be work culture. By that I mean bring in webgen animators and whatnot to modernize the look of One Piece.

I believe toei has a much larger staff than other companies, so they don't have their entire staff work on every episode. they give different episodes to different staff, as well as sometimes give it to freelance animators for important scenes

The biggest issue for them was trying to animate both Dragon Ball Super and One Piece weekly, especially when it was the Tournament of Power arc in Super. The animation there was great but everything else dipped in quality considerably

They are working on many anime right now (one piece, digimon and dragon quest and maybe some more). Toei just improved as a studio (they are the richest anime studio after all)

@@ildile8248 Not necessarily!! If you mean consistent great animation then yes, you're right. But even long running anime can occasionally have some episodes that have higher quality than seasonal anime. Take Dbs ep 130 or Boruto ep 65 and 189 for example, there's not a single episode of Mha or Jujutsu Kaisen that's better animated than those 3 episodes.

Wano has been such an amazing arc, its had its slow moments, but when the action and plot do kick up, they kick straight to a 10/10.

One piece has has consistently good animation since its airing, people like to overblow the bad animation for certain parts. For example dressrosa was too long, so people didn't appreciate the good animation it did have.

Stop watching One Piece around Dressrosa arc and stop reading it around the start of Wano Arc. Now I’m rewatching the show, I’m currently at the paramount war arc. Can’t wait until I reach this Wano arc. By the time I catch I hope the arc is done.

As usual this isn't a case of the series having a big budget. Most anime, no matter how good the animation is, generally have about the same budget. What matters most is the talented staff working on the shows. With powerhouses like Takeshi Kojima on board it's no surprise this arc would have some fantastic animation.

@@momoz4427 That sure is an important factor as well! But even with more time you can still get a rather average series albeit with more consistent art. No disservice to the average animator but not everyone can stand among legends like Hakuyu Go, Kiyotaka Oshiyama or Yoshimichi Kameda.

Not fully true. Budget is a MASSIVE factor. You say all that matters is the skill of the staff, but do you know how you get skilled staff? You pay them. How do you get them to work hard and for countless hours? You pay them. The famous animators that come in and help for fight scenes or other key moments, cost a lot of money. The higher budget, the more often you can do this. Saying budget doesn't matter here is stupid and saying most anime have about the same budget is even more stupid.

you would never guess this was a weekly anime, if the animators can do the onigashima war justice wano will be one of the best anime arcs to date

Honestly I have nothing but praise for the animation style of of the Wano arc. To be able to push out movie quality episodes every single week is a feat that I have literally never seen done in any other weekly anime before. Like I’m so happy I’ve stuck with OP this long to see it evolve into something that’s just down right beautiful. I feel like Oda and his team felt like if they needed to go ham on any arc it would have to be Wano because it’s the island in One Piece that represents their homeland of Japan and boy did they do it justice. From Luffy and Zoro fighting Hawkins, Luffy and Kaido’s bout, Zoro taking out the shogunate, Odens entire backstory, The battle on the ocean leading to Onigashima have all been top notch animation. Then we can’t forget that Ms. Ishatani went above and beyond for Queens concert in the recent episode. Like I’m so happy with Toei and what they’ve been providing for us to enjoy and it’s all just so complimented by Oda’s superb writing and world building. I knew when I made One Piece my fav shonen that it was for a good reason.

Well done, Toei Animation, you blew our minds and gave One Piece the treatment it's severely deserved for a while now. It's unfortunate Luffy vs. Katakuri just missed the new beautiful art style and animation, oh, it would've been beautifully animated. Chapter 1000+ Spoilers: The Rooftop of Onigashima, aka Rooftop Piece - Luffy, Zoro, Law, Kid, and Killer vs. Kaido and Big Mom is probably going to have the best animation One Piece has ever seen. It'll be a long wait, but we're going to see it animated sometime around January 2022.

Dressrosa died so Wano could live

0:38 zoro has become one with the fluid.

They really brought Wano to life in a way they never did during dressrosa or whole cake island for example. Im actually going back to the anime for the first time in a while!

Kaido vs luffy has the best animation so far in the one piece anime.

the devide their staff into groups and each episode take 1 to 3 months so like every one to 3 months the finsish couple of episodes from each team and hand them a chapter to work on also they already have like episode 1000 done its just waiting their

Think about the quality of animation that a n1, most selling, most famous anime in history should have. But yes tell me more about static images (95% of almost any episode) is a good animation. LOL Demon Slayer, Black Clover, Attack on titan, Boruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, i can keep going Not even close, it is actually pathetic

Luffy running to kaido was top tier

Its crazy how good the animation looks for a week to week show like Wano One Piece

Roof piece is gonna be the best animated stretch of one piece in the entire series.

@@corazone7930 The talent of the staff working on the series as well as the working conditions at the studio. With better management you can give animators more time to improve the animation. The Wano Arc has also seen industry powerhouses like Bahi JD and Takeshi Kojima working on the series. It all depends on whether they can get talented staff with the right conditions.

i hope people will watch one piece eventually, even if it’s long, it’s definitely worth it

While I do miss the Enies Lobby animation style, this is WAY better-looking. Can’t wait for chapter 1010 and seeing how THAT has changed since the time skip

Flipping love one piece it’s my second favourite anime of all time after dragon ball. Those two are just in a league of their own for me
