Sister Michael is the QUEEN of the one liner - "I think they should be kept in cages" - but my absolute FAVOURITE Sister Michael moment is when she finds out Jenny Joyce is the only one who's turned up for school on the day of the US President visit and she says to her "You've got to learn to push back". LOVE the snark, the bone dry wit, the quirks and all but it's those odd little moments when you just think that Sister Michael is one of us.

it's the bolo ties that get me. if she's out and about in the world she wears a turquoise bolo tie

I know this is about Sister Michael, but Orla never fails to impress - in the head of the statue turned upside down scene, Orla presents the statue with pride. And in the red suitcase scene when Sister Michael asks who the suitcase belongs to, Orla raises her hand enthusiastically.

@@fmcm7715 Ours didn't (too old and wrinkly), tho the habit and veil matched. But I swear that woman had bipolar. Old dragon spitting fire when she was principal, and after she retired (and heading up the mess hall) sweetest little old nun imaginable. Even her fellow sisters where baffled.

@@fmcm7715 our vice principal was a very straight laced nun, from what I recall. I never had her as a teacher, I only got the crazy ones (aka bipolar dragon, sweetest old woman alive who could make a room full of 16 year olds eager to play a game for toddlers, sister act in white, the one who threw chalk at you, even when she wasn't anywhere near a blackboard, and the one who had her own distillery back in the chem rooms.) I loved that school btw

Her face when she sees the broken statue. So many emotions without a word! Pure brilliance!

That's actually quite funny. Sister Michael has the BEST one-liners.

Every teacher’s inner monologue made flesh.

I could watch an entire show of nothing but Sister Michael. She makes me laugh so hard sometimes I have to rewind and hear the rest of what she says.

I can't get over the scene of the statue with the upside down head. Orlagh is a genius!

I know this is entirely peripheral, but I really like Miss Mooney. She absolutely supports the Headmistress but quietly delivers a great straight sidekick to the sister’s acerbic and sardonic tiredness with it all. “Did I not ban this one?”……”The power of love, All you need is love, How deep is your love, It must've been love, I wanna know what love is, I will always love you. No, sister you didn't.”

Sister Michael and the priest together kill me! They're dynamic is perfect. He's also so kind and really just wants to help. Their final moments together in Season Three were everything.

I can't believe I haven't seen this!

I went through Catholic School. The one thing I could never fully explain was how there was always a nun somewhere. They were seemingly obvious to spot, melted into the shadows without notice. It didn't matter how minor the slight, they knew it all in detail. Apart from why Father Simonds suddenly left mid-term and every picture of him was removed. That was a complete mystery.
