I was lucky enough to get 4 tickets to the recording of Brian Blessed's episode. Absolutely wonderful, a night out to remember forever! We were fortunate that we were all in the front row. 2 hours after the recording started the producer had to stop it, because there was a queue of taxis outside the studio for people who had booked them in advance. My ears are still ringing. Best. Episode. Ever.

I would have loved it to know that Elvis toured London before he went back to the US. It just did not happen, sadly. I understand he had a fear of flying. Obviously, when enlisted he managed to cope. Maybe he just did not fancy a visit to the UK. That makes me said because I love Elvis.

I understood Elvis' lack of leaving the US, other than when he was enlisted, was down to Tom Parker. As he was an illegal immigrant in the US, had he left, as he would have been expected to do as Elvis' manager, he'd not have been allowed back in.

1:15:55 That might be one of the funniest things anybody has ever said on British tv. No idea how I've missed it. I've watched every episode and all of the compilations so many times. The hanging noose joke right before it.....i've seen a thousand times...... How in the world have I not seen the sex registry joke. My god. That's better than both Jimmy Carr's gloryhole joke And Sean's "not spitting on Miles during sex" joke on countdown. Jesus christ. I know Paul is one of the quickest and funniest alive....but surely they edited it to make it look seamless and instant. How in the world could he come up with it that fast. That is so damn funny.

38:07 Paul Merton's despairing laughter is priceless.
this brings tears to my eyes even now. theres only one Brian
Love seeing them joke about how terrible Boris would be as PM. It’s like they saw the future.
Thanks for uploading all these HIGNFY best of’s - perfect watching for COVID
Wow, they spoke about Saville before he was outed and laughed about Boris Jonson being prime minister. How low we have sunk.

The only show to give you a headache from laughing too hard
Brian Blessed! Now thats a National Treasure!! ha ha!

i could listen to Julian Clary all day
I'd have loved to have seen Julian Clary host more episodes or even permanently, he makes a surprisingly good middleman and the interplay between him and Paul, who I believe are old friends, is brilliant.

Yes Julian and Paul are very old friends. Paul has actually written a lot for Julian's act, even some of the filthiest innuendo!

@@conslin1147 The problem is Julian Clary's act is 100% camp and gay innuendo- which was fine in the 80s when he was young and it hadn't been done as blatantly on TV before- but doesn't fit in well with a news quiz.
I feel it fair to mention here what happened when an unexpected soviet/russian sub surfaced through artic ice having tracked the inimitable Blessed and co. from underwater. Brian sang at them!

I'm just amazed the Brian Blessed episode boasted a 100% survival rate.

I’m with Ian; you don’t fatten a pig by weighing it all the time. I’m living in 2022, and this is still a relevant comment. Ye gods.

Paul, Tommy Steele was one of the first UK artistes to stand up against S. African apartheid. No one is perfect but it does add some credibility to the tale. Plus, the public microscope wasn't as powerful in those days.

I wish sticky moments was on the TV.
I would have loved it to know that Elvis toured London before he went back to the US. It just did not happen, sadly. I understand he had a fear of flying. Obviously, when enlisted he managed to cope. Maybe he just did not fancy a visit to the UK. That makes me said because I love Elvis.
@susi-emily

I understood Elvis' lack of leaving the US, other than when he was enlisted, was down to Tom Parker. As he was an illegal immigrant in the US, had he left, as he would have been expected to do as Elvis' manager, he'd not have been allowed back in.

He was very good as Augustus in "I, Claudius" as well. Patrick Stewart played Sejanus in that series. If you want to see him with hair, take a look at it.
Brian is such a treasure. ❤
