Many couldn’t appreciate his showman persona, perceiving it as pure arrogance. This rubbed people up the wrong way, especially given his roots growing up in places like Peckham, Hackney and then the Bronx in New York being starkly contrasted by his gentrified dialect and “upper class gentry” sense of fashion. Some felt he was pretending to be something he wasn’t. He argued “being working class is no excuse for not speaking properly”.

I like how Chris Eubanks & Nigel Benn shook hands at the end of the interview, that's what the sport is all about, RESPECT!, true, boxing is a violent sport & you're supposed to destroy your opponent, but that don't mean you have to hate your opponent, it's only a sport, recognizin' your opponent is still a man & keepin' the sport "honest", don't suckapunch your opponent behind his head, hit him wit low blows, or hit him when he's on his down to the mat, respect is da key!

I couldn't say who's better. They're all some bad as fighters. Also Michael Watson and Gerald "GMan" M. Could of been in this circle if it wasn't for the tragedies. My favorite was the Gman. I believe he would of been the one to beat. His lose with Nigel Benn was do his brain blood clots. He demonstrated better boxing ability than Benn before he started showing symptoms of brain injuries. I'm not taking nothing against Benn he is a bad ass fighter. But Gman would of been the guy to beat. Just my opinion. They where all super stars.

Believe it or not eubank burst into the seen with an American accent back then, Nigel was the darling in the media circle, that led to the beauty and the beast bout. Then Watson nonintensional tragedy followed eubank was never the same after that horror, sad to see James toney slewing his speech today.james toney was a hell of a fighter, only made a careless mistake with Roy Jones who walked on water in the ring 💍 . The engraved personality of eubank fits perfectly into who he was, GLADIATOR.

Toney sounded punch drunk way before his boxing career was over - his potential fights with Eubank and Benn would have been too close to call. He may sound punchy but he had a very good ring IQ. However, one barometer may be to say a 40-year-old Michael McCallum held him to a draw - on the flip side Toney stopped Michael Nunn in 11 rounds; Nunn would have given both Benn and Eubank nightmares in the ring with his style, which was similar to Herol Graham who they avoided like the plague. Great lead-up to a decent fight. Thanks for uploading.

@patricblack1 That's because WE Eniglish were boxing in the 1830's when the USA wasn't even the USA yet! We know it requires discipline at all times in or out the ring.

I love them both but Toney would've kicked both their asses, not in the same night maybe but for sure, 2 Ws for Toney. And Nigel looked like if he wanted to kill him when Toney was speaking jaja

2nd was a draw. I had Benn winning but I wanted Eubank to win.
