On January 20th 2018 @ Turf Moor the entire away end packed with Manchester United fans sang " There's only one Cyrille Regis". How many other players would another clubs fans sing their name? Not many I can think of. Good man, brilliant player. RIP Cyrille, the whole of football will miss you!!!
As a Villa fan he came to us towards the end of his career but he still done a great job and helped nurture young players like Dwight Yorke. However, even I will always remember him wearing that iconic Albion jersey scaring the life out of the opposition. A true legend, lost too early 😟
That goal against Norwich will always be one of my favourite goals ever. I’m only 22 as well, wish I saw him play. RIP Big C!
Just woke up to the news that Cyrille has died from a heart attack aged just 59. Another boyhood hero has gone. RIP, you utter legend.

in 1987 regis became THE FIRST black footballer to score 100 goals in division 1 (the top league in england)
R.I.P Cyrille Regis. It's a shame that you couldn't make it to your 60th birthday which was around the corner.
Albion will never have a goal scorer like cyrille. He was brilliant. I was gutted when I heard he had gone at 59.my brother also died last year he was 59 also. Sad sad day. Rip our cyrille . Never be another like you at Albion.

My boyhood hero in 78 , got his signed shirt on my wall , respect to an absolute legend of a man !
That goal against Norwich was absolutely sensational. But the Laurie Cunningham /Ally Brown / King Cyrille blitzkreig to kill off Man Utd at Old Trafford Xmas 78 remains my happiest Albion moment. A few days later we topped the league. Happy birthday , Cyrille.
RIP Big Man fabulous footballer both him and Laurie Cunningham were fantastic as a Blues fan saw Cyrille many times and he scored many times againts my team utmost respect for the man nice guy and a great player. Sad Loss
Born in 1960, with Pele my hero, i remember Clyde Best of West Ham being the 1st black Uk footballer then Ade Coker, then came along Cyrille Regis. I’m no WBA fan but Cyrille & Laurie Cunningham became my football idols after WBA won 5-3 versus Man United in the 1978/79 season, both of them were just awesome, a joy to watch. Cyrille had it all, power, pace & a rocket launcher of a right foot. I managed to get the big fella’s autograph after a chance meeting & I treasure it. RIP & God bless my football heroes Cyrille Regis & Laurie Cunningham

How much would Cyrille Regis cost in the transfer market these days? I don't see a centre forward these days with the qualities Cyrille displayed. He had pace, power, he literally physically bullied defenders sometimes 2 at the same time, he scored all types of goals, left foot, right foot, headers. Didier Drogba is the closest resemblance I can think of, he was a fantastic footballer RIP Cyrille 👊✊

I wished "Big Cyrille" could of got on the scoresheet in the 87 cup final. It would of been fitting and the least , the very least, Regis deserved. Instead I take some comfort that he took part in the GREATEST FA Cup Final ever. Thank you for the memories. The Lord's my shepherd and.........Regis the star. God bless
What i find astonishing is that Cyrille Regis and Laurie Cunningham only won 11 England caps between them. Two of the Most talented players of the late 70`s and early 80`s who played in a stylish West Brom team who Big Ron is convinced would have won the League Title in 1978/79 but for fixture congestion late in the season due to bad weather.(they finished third in a 22 team Top Flight behind Liverpool & Forest. England Managers of that era i think were afraid to pick too many black players. Other excellent black players of the era like Paul Davis & Ricky Hill barely got a look in to the England Team.

To be honest it doesn't surprise me. England has always had a problem with selecting Black players to the present day. Graham Taylor admitted he was once told while England manager not to pick too many black players. Also when you look at the success England youth teams current and how they mostly full of black players, the current senior England looks very white in comparison.
