As an equestrian, I love the cartoony realism and the fact that it swears. Yes, a lot of children enjoy horses. No, not every horse game needs to be targeted towards children and rated G.

The developer said that the game was directed towards an older audience and the swear word is more realistic. I am really excited to play! Especially since right now I can't get in my SSO account.

I agree, most teens and adults swear. All the horse games I've played have been super pg, the kids have plenty of pg games to choose from. Not everything has to be for kids.

@@cha6328 u can get rdr2 on pc for around £20 on cdkeys and its around the same price for console in secondhand shops like cex - ima assume this game will be around that price too but i do agree the swearing is fun i hope they keep it lmao

@@zoenle i knew someone was gonna point out rdr2 lol. i would love to get it but i’d prefer to have a more horse centered game if it makes any sense, i love the graphics and all but you can’t do most thing that others horse games can (racing, dressage, cross country, english riding, show jumping ecc.)

Wish more games would have both a classical and western style game mode, not all of us equestrians ride classical 😭 western and bareback riding needs more love

I agree. While I do English I really would like some less popular sports in horse games. There are some really cool and ethical sports in western that I’d love to see and bareback as a bit of a bonding activity would be awesome. Personally I’d also like some more care and attention to dressage too, I’m a bit bias because I do it a lot but I think it gets under represented as a difficult, fun and often times ethical discipline. I’m super excited for Astride because it wants to add some more unheard of disciplines from both Western and English styles.

Yes me too😭 In fact I thought I'd create a game like this. A game centered on Reining, and then giving the possibility to compete in Barrel and Cutting. I'm tired of watching Show Jumping all the time, not everyone wants to jump! Indeed, many are interested in American riding or Dressage for example...

Just a quick tip, when the horse speeds up before the jump, it's actually completely normal and horses actually do that ♡

Honestly I prefer cussing in this to not. I like the idea that a horse game can be for adults. Honestly I think a vast majority of gamers in SSO and other horse games are by now older teens or adults (heck, I'm 20) and it's good to see horse games begin to reflect the fact that horses are not just for kids or girls.

the game is targeted towards an older audience than regular horse games. that’s way there’s a swear word. i like that actually and according to the game’s creator, that makes sense later in the story because of that character in particular

As someone that likes doing Show Jumping on SSO, this has my whole heart and money. Definitely amazing!

Take my money. When they first started their channel showing the game off I knew they were going to blow up. I remember when they originally didn’t know if they were going to make it a public game or just be a personal project. Glad they chose to share this amazing creation.

Honestly, I think the aversion to the swear word is a cultural thing. German here and contrary to US we are just generally more exposed to swearing in TV/Media. Also use the f-word quite casually in everyday life. So we don't have this shock when reading it.

Trust me, the f-word is used quite casually in everyday life and media in the US. it's just the kids who aren't as comfortable with it

I personally think the cursing adds detail and personality to the npc. For example, an older "grandpa on a farm" npc might swear more often than a 24 year old horse trainer.

11:29-11:33 Actually, horses aren't always angry when they turn their ears back. When you ride them, most of the time it means that they react to and focus on your aids. Because, when not angry, horses turn their ears in the direction they give something their attention to :)

Yup-My thoughts, exactly, too!!! Depends on if they swivel them backwards, or if they lace them back kind of flattened. Just swiveling or flicking backward means they're paying attention and listening to you exactly like they're supposed to. ^-^

This one is pretty nice. I enjoy the visual/ art style too :)

Wow, there seem to be so many nice horse games coming out soon, and this one is kinda revolutionary with its mechanics! Sso won’t be the only well known horse game out there so they will hopefully have motivation again to better their quality. Anyways, im super hyped to try out all the detailed games soon 😍

This game looks amazing and the mechanics are so unique. Mechanics are definitely a really important part in the game. I also like that there are different horses with different personalities. A beginner would most likely ride and older horse than a young horse who is stubborn or not calm. I absolutely love that this game is realistic and even uses realistic riding techniques. The game developer has done an amazing job and I hope they get loads of love.

It's exciting to see some new horse games entering the playing field. When i have money I'm gonna try to become a patron because it's already a very pretty game and I'd love to show the dev some support

As many people said, I don't see a problem with the swearing . It adds lots of character to the person , it is also realistic and can be really funny too. The creator has also clearly said that the game is aimed for an older audience and is 13+. I think you shouldn't be so harsh about it since Tales of Rein Revine had clearly stated at the beginning of even making the game, that it will be for teens and adults.

best thing about this game is that the horse hoof prints stay in the sand instead of going away

As an equestrian I will say, this is very accurate. But you are right, the fastest a horse can go is a gallop. Also I love that a horse game finally includes strides and everything else.

I think the horse you rode (Spot) was a hotblood because they did say they added hotbloods and when they get close to a jump they start speeding up

I love the game! I have been keeping up with the game for a while and it's incredible. For the swearing, I think maybe their should be a feature that allows you to turn it off or on. I know it's nice to have a game that is realistic conversation wise, but, I can imagine the kids who would love to get the game but can't because it'd language. Anyways love it 💖

Spot reminds me really of my own horse! their colours are similar, they have a similar age and height and even though my horse is super calm and adorable with beginners as soon as he feels that you can ride he challenges you and both their names start with an s😂

This looks better than SSO, this is only because of the realism. Being an equestrian, this game looks fantastic and the way it's so easy to know it's fake it looks so real at the same time. I am absolutely so impressed that the horse has it's own personality. I am so downloading this, when is it released and is it free?

The animations in this game are top-notch. They have such an unique style and are so well-made. I love them!

Btw you can now use both mouse keys to push a horse to jump over if they do spook at jumps

OMG this game looks amazing Abby I can not wait to try this demo it is by far the most realistic control system for horses I have ever encountered. In Real Life my actual Horses are just like this attitude wise anyway when you where riding Spot loved it big time. Ps My 11yr old Mare is also named Abigail she is my Dressage Horse. you have the best name for sure. and my other Mare is 6yr old named Rain, she is my Reining horse. Look at the hoof down on the left when you turn on realistic jumping it appears when you see the hoof is when you can jump when it disappears u get a bad striding if you jump on that moment

I was counting the canter strides on the screen from habit lol. the striding does change, which is nice

I saw a comment someone put on the maker video of this Demo and in their comment they put "The fact that it had the f word threw me off a bit, I really wasn’t expecting it, but honestly, that’s trainer language" and this is what the maker said back, "As for the swearing, Tales of Rein Ravine is made with an older audience in mind (13 and up, even adult players). The storyline I've planned is a much more young adult/teenager type moody drama than a kid's story about hearts and rainbow colored ponies so I find it realistic that the characters talk like actual young adults." am not really bothered by it, but I don't think part from that comment, they have Not said what the age rating of the game is anywhere on their Patron or that.., I know Picky but you know, BUT ALSO, in all my years of on and off riding, I have never had a riding instructor or trainer Swear at me, well not at me but you know use swear words when talking, it is sort of unprofessional If it's your first time there and stuff BUT if you know them and are friends with them that another story.

A horse has 4 gaits. Walk, trot, canter, and gallop. There isn’t a “run” for horses. The fastest gait is gallop

Not gonna lie, if I was trying out a new riding place, and the instructor said "Are you ****ing with me right now?", even if she thought I was someone else, I definitely wouldn't ride there anymore.

i recommend trying to count up to 3 strides before the jump, on the third is when you jump if you get that? :)
