While they're nothing like the old Preds, the Predator 18.1 is still an excellent new cleat! There are also way more different between the 18.1 and 18+ than I was expecting, all of which I go over in the video. If you're trying to decide between the 18+ and the 18.1, the info in this video should make it pretty clear for you. Personally, I like collars or “sock” because I play on turf, and it completely keeps the rubber out of my boots. It’s not a big deal but is definitely a nice thing to have.

My exact same reason, i switched between an Adizero and a Superfly 5 on turf, and the adizero had a ton of rubber pellets in it after about 30 seconds of playing

Yes I have to agree, I have the hypervenom 3 elite turf mid cut and I have a pair of superfly 4 elite for firm ground. For indoor football I have the puma king pro and vapor 9 academy. The reason I got the superfly 4 was because I thought it looked cool and different and that carbon sole plate. I got the venom 3 for the exact same reason you get mid cut, so the rubber don't get in. And the puma king I wanted to try a leather 'speed boot' and I think it's nice and comfortable.

I've tried on all of Adidas's laceless boots and my heel lifts off the bottom of the shoe every time I flex my foot downwards. The lack of lockdown is really disappointing

My ace 16.1 primeknit came with a mesh string bag so they were still producing them then

Just bought them and I love the look !

Although I really enjoyed the recent laceless silos from adidas, I prefer these over the new laceless predators. These look so much better w laces and the laceless version just doesn’t look as clean as something as the ace 17+

I’m trying to decide between the Predator 18.1 and X 18.1. I know you’re (Josh) a fan of the X over the Predators. But if I’m wanting comfort, control, and legit lockdown, which of the two should i go for?

How would you compare the socklike feel against Nike? Is it like a Superfly, HyperVenom or Magista? Or would you still wait to try them out for a better and solid opinion? Great and awesome video!

I think all of the NIke Flyknit uppers are far more complex and more responsive in comparison to what this offers. These are however very soft and comfortable. They're all knitted, but it's tough to compare them because of how different they are.

The Predator 18.1 is the most closest cleat that I would find that looks by the old Predators, but also I think that the 18+ is also really good, the only thing to consider is if you prefer the 18+ or the 18.1, knowing that both top-end models are similar, and close to EXACTLY THE SAME, and there is something that I don´t understand from some people who says that adidas copied Nike, what this has of copy for Nike (THE LACELESS PREDATOR IS ONLY FOR OVER 18 YEARS)

Hi Josh. I’m tempted at getting these, but I’ve had some bad experiences with the quality control of adidas. I saw you mentioned the laces on this, do you find adidas have more quality issues than other brands? They’ve always accepted my returns but it’s abit annoying the fit and finish isn’t as high as it could be. The glitches I bought were horrendous! A true quality horror story

I think they're good, but far from the best. Depending on specifically what type of fit and feel that you want, these could be a boot to consider, but I don't think it's anything exceptional.

Hi Josh. Have been a loyal Adidas user for the last 10 years. The last few years I switched to Ace after the predators were discontinued. I had the Ace 16.1 primeknit and were hands down the best boots I have ever worn. The following season I went for the 17.1 primeknit and absolutely hated them. Felt the were too stiff and just weren't as comfy as the 16.1 primeknits. With these you say this is the best primeknit upper adidas have made? Would you say the are better than the 16.1 primeknit? I am very interested in these maybe in a nicer colourway in the next few months

I personally think they are. These a huge improvement over the ACE 17.1 in my opinion.

I bought this shoe today I went for true size although the shoe fits perfectly around my feet but there is no extra space inside the shoe . Will this shoe stretch a bit after few wears or should I go for a size up.

They'll stretch a little, but not much. No extra space isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as they aren't uncomfortable. That's your call to make.

I had purecontrol and 17+ agility but I replaced them with ace 17.1 and nemeziz 17.1 shortly after. I guess it's the same case with the new predator.

You can stick with the same size.

I've got EU size 42 for the Predator AdiPower and LZ II, but got EU 42 2/3 for the Predator Instinct. I've found out that the Instinct in EU 42 was to small and resulted in blue toes. How about sizing in the Predator 18.1? Furthermore, is the stud patern really suitable for FG/AG? Because I've noticed that Adidas also sells an AG version of the Predator 18.1. I'm on the point to buy one pair of Predator 18.1, because I play often on AG. Or is the Hypervenom Phantom III better? Have to buy two pairs again then though..

I've worn the same size 9US in all of the Preds you mentioned. They are suitable for artificial grass, yes. Although it definitely is more of an FG stud pattern rather than an AG stud pattern.

hey josh does that extended collar at the back hurt/dig into the back of your foot? I found the ace 17.1 hurt my ankles after I played in them for a while so I switched to tiempos.

It could be playing surface related. It could also just be that they're new and it will take some time to get used to them. How long that might be, I don't really know. It will vary from person to person depending on the shape of your feet and how the boots fit.

The cushioned version is almost exactly like most normal football socks where as the thin version are a lot thinner. If you are wanting the same thickness as normal socks go with the cushioned version:)

Hi Josh. You mentioned this cleat as both FG/AG but i bought the all black version and the tag and box only say FG. If so then can i use this on AG or may risk getting injured due to the longer stud configuration compared to shorter AG studs. Thanks

I really don't know. I have not had any hands on experience with them, so I couldn't really tell you how similar they are to the men's versions.

Adidas gotta stop with the laceless models. And instead of trying to get with the knitted upper they should honestly go back to the drawing board and come up with the next trend. Nike honestly won knitted uppers

I like the Legends the best of the bunch, but like you said, they're all very different. They're all solid options, it just depends on what type of fit and feel that you're looking for.

Pretty much anything will fit wider in comparison to a Mercurial. Nothing is particularly grippy on the ball right now. Maybe the UA Clutchfit Force 3.0, but they're nothing like anything with rubber grip elements.
