On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Well, one of those fighters actually operates from a carrier. The other takes off from a carrier and then operates from a land base.

@@ashaykholkar2095 China operates J-15s from their carriers, a Su-33 variant designed to be lightweight for lower landing speeds. They are capable fighters but their reliance on ski-jumps and a lack of carrier-based aerial refuelling capabilities both severely limit their operational abilities, especially with regards to combat range and weapons loadout. Their max takeoff weight is literally half that of a catapult-launched F-35C

@@alexv3357But that said: They have huge fueltanks, and hardly ever need external ones (do Russians even have those) unlike Hornets that almost always have at least one? (and was it 3 even on this video?). But sure, Russian navy air force is more like a gimmic compared to US and even other western countries.
You know what's really funny? The fact that TacView Debrief is envoking a sense of nostalgia for me even though it was included in videos that weren't even that long ago lol. That's how many videos you make. I get nostalgia from something that happened not even 6 months ago. Keep up the great work man!

There's definitely been some recent videos that a tacview would've been good to have on
I like the tacview debrief.. I don't do the DCS thing, but I find it to be very interesting. And I can appreciate ( through this channel) how difficult it must be.
I have an (granted, self declared) interesting video idea: A dogfight through the ages, where you take US and USSR/Russian aircraft starting from 1st gen (Sabre/Mig) and move through the generations to f22 v. su57. Ik you've done videos of all those separately, but it could be interesting to compare them in all 1 video. It'd be a very long video, but I think there'd be plenty of viewership throughout the entire video!

The hornet was made to do everything really. Bombs, Mavericks, A/A really everything, not only that, it’s pretty good at what it does. It’s a very forgiving dog fighter and that’s why I like it (Also has the easiest cockpit to deal with but that’s just me)

Sure. When it comes to achieving air superiority against a real army, the F22/F35 may be more suitable. But after that? The F18 is something you don't wanna deal with on the receiving end.

I’ve missed the Tacview debrief - it’s where I do most of my air to air combat learning! 😁 If most people don’t watch the Tacview portion I can understand how it probably messes with your stats. So the solution is; stick around for Tacview debrief, people! 😄 Love your work as always GS.
GS while watching yesterday video one of your old vids pops up (4 years old) and you did a 3v3 pvp was really nice to see how the tactics change when you have allies, that could be really interesting to see again just saying
Mate, I wish you would do more videos like that. I learnt more in that than any other video you do. It was awesome seeing the navy fighting, and that breakdown at the end was tops. Great video man please do more like that. Love the channel man.
GS, every time you post you make my day better, hats off sir!
I honestly think you are just so much more skilled and better than other pilots you face that its kinda hard to see how different aircrafts compare to each other 😊 Like I'm sure you would have win if the aircrafts were swapped lol

Wow, thank you so much GS. My feed recommended this video to me about 30 minutes ago. I’m only 14, and ever since I can remember, I’ve always been an avid aviation nerd; all things aviation! Now I’ve found a channel that actually has some seriously interesting content. I’m looking forward to binge watching these videos! Superb content; no annoying voice talking over the video, no low-quality content. Just top tier content👍 Thank you for taking the time to make such videos, I really appreciate it. P.s. You’d make a great narrator by the way😉
Love it when you take down those big Flankers, GS! Great cinematics as per usual. Nice to have Tacview back...
I presume GS opted not to include because the stats told many viewers stops watching middle of the way, but I still love it whenever he shows us tacview
I really enjoyed the breakdown afterwards about what you were doing and why. It's one thing to see it and hear you in the moment talking about being in and out of the MAR and then recommiting, it's another to see the logic breakdown behind it. Cheers!
man the BF theme NEVER gets old.. love it
The elusive Tacview! Love it. Great flying GS as usual.
Thanks GS for all the hard work in making these videos with amazing post battle analysis. Been following you for 2 years now, and will keep doing diligently, so as long as you keep making these vids man! If you had to pick a moment where you think the Su-33 lost the fight, where would you say it happened?
Yo GS. Nice and efficient. Thanks for the Tacview good to take it back old-school every now and again. Have a pleasant day. Cheers
You typically crank and defend to the left. Is this something your opponent can use against you if they anticipate it? Is there criteria that you use that determine which direction to defend in?
Thank you for another awesome video! I really appreciate all the work you put in! I would really appreciate to see a double bandit unknown BVR match. I dunno, the thought that neither pilot knows what they are facing sounds fun to me.

So glad to see tac view back, really helps see what's going on strategy wise
Oh how I missed Tacview! Thanks for bringing it back to your videos!
Great video GS! Ive been watching your videos for almost a year now and every video is amazing. As someone who loves aviation, watching your videos really makes my mood rise. Keep up the work!!
I really enjoy the debriefs after 1v1! Thanks a lot!
Love the tacview, brings me back to your earlier videos! I kinda geek out with the breakdowns you show in your videos!. Again, awesome content.. best channel by far..
I really missed tacview, thx for bringging it back GS!
As soon as you said “you’re safe”, I was expecting you to explode.
Great job to the both of you! I have been subscribed to the channel for some years now and I enjoy almost all of the vid's. There are so many scenario's possible, like instead of F-18C the Superhornet, instead of 1 on 1, a 2 on 2 or 4 on 4 and I enjoy the last vid's as well during nighttime. Consider these in future vid's please, kinda request 😅
Loved the TacView on this one!
Thankyou for the tacview! Your BVR videos need them!
These tactics like offset missile launch - I'd like to see it implemented against you so we can see how that feels like. Great video as always!

damn, hornet is not to be underestimated! great vid, love the tacview stuff
Love the tacview debrief
Nice video man love the work! Could you also start flying the Rafale more often it’s my favourite fighter jet
saw the Rickenbacker airshow on saturday now looking for some amazing dcs content
Incredible detail. I love these videos.
I was beginning to think there would be no more videos of F/A-18 Victories. Feels like there's so many losses with that thing on your channel. Hurts my pride sometimes cause it's my favorite Jet. Great video regardless
Nice, as always. Curious why you picked the C instead of the E.
"Sometimes I feel the hornet doesn't get the credit it deserves" says DCS player who seems to use it as his favourite cannon/missile fodder 😛
The problem with the 18 is that it was made to "do everything well" but not SOMETHING PERFECTLY like prior planes were made to do. That is why it can "hold its own" for most engagements, but you can always find something that will be BETTER at something. So dogfights, you can find a "better plane" to use. Bombing runs/ground attack, you can find a "better plane" to use. Even long range (BVR) fights, you can a 'better plane' to use. BUT if you want to have a "squad" or basic "air wing" to cover it all... the 18 is going to be hard to beat when everyone in the squad shows up in one.
hey Gs, big fan
i love the videos man i watch you everyday after i finish flight school
Loving this real world scenario.
I've come to the conclusion that the "best" fighter in DCS is whatever one GS is currently flying.
Sick video but I’d love to see the carrier launch next time. They never get old
Good thing he didn’t have a long range Fox 2 for that one when you recommitted right away 😁
I love your comments on why you are ding certain stuff, like why you use the RWR, why you are keeping him lock up in the gimbal limit etc. I am not a good dogfighter and would like to better understand in order to get better myself
Could you include the launch with the catapult in the video next time? love your vids, keep‘em going
Hey GS, question here. How do You make that camera movement outside the planes look so smooth and natural? It looks incredibly well!
Man, it's always a sinking feeling when you're cold defending a missile and your opponent is able to stay nose hot.
GS, I love watching your videos, so far like 10-12, do you have a list of the abbreviations that you commonly use while you're playing? I got the MAR and offset, but you used notch a couple of times and I would like to know what that is and what it does to help.
It would be cool to see a navy f35 in the same situation
If ive learned anything from watching these videos, and i have. Its that a lot of these jets are similar and what it really comes down to is the quality of pilot training.
Question, would there be any benefit to not firing missiles early on? Seems like both sides have to defend against missiles that are assumed to be in the air regardless of if they're actually there or not. The early missiles rarely hit anything. Would this let you show up to the MAR with more missiles in your pocket to turn super aggressive once you're close? Could this also let you have better odds against multiple aircraft by only actually firing once you have better probability of kills? I guess the other pilot could get wise to whats going on after they defend a few times and never hears a missile go pitbull, but I'd think you could at least save your first missile or two before they catch on. Seems like this could be a sneaky tactic to use now and then. Always love the TacView!
What version remix of the battlefield theme do you use for the splash replay? Sooo good 🔥🙌
8:05 For a moment I thought you were going to break into poetry. 😅
Hey GS! I would highly recommend the Improved HUD mod for the F/A-18C and F16C in DCS. It makes the HUD look a lot better IMO. You should check it out sometime!
Thanks sidewinder
When are we going to see you perform the Top Gun Maverick mission with a F22? I would love to see it. Doesnt have to be exactly fly below SAMs and bomb the target through Coffin Corner, but do the same mission template using the F22's stealth ability. Bomb the target, then engage 3 Su-57s. I think it would make an amazing video to be honest. Anyways, thanks for continuing the great content as always!
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but what does the moving lone dot on the HUD indicate? It moves a lot around on the HUD but I can't grasp what it's for, it doesn't seem to follow the target square/losange IFF designation nor give flight data all around. Thanks for your answers and sorry from a noob! 😅 Love your daily content by the way! 🤘
Excellent content. Thanks.
Have flown the Flanker-D for a fair bit now, and only just got the Hornet. Holy cow that Hornet can turn, at seemingly no airspeed too. As the Flanker, the Hornet always noses in earlier than you expect. As the Hornet, it's almost laughably easy to get guns on before the Flanker can, most of the time. And factor in how advanced the RWR and radar is, the variety in weapons, the fantastic low speed controllability (I was expecting another F-15 at 170 knots/317kph and under)...I could go on
Educational BVR fight you gave us. How about playing the survival of the MiG-29MU2 or any variants of it vs the Su-57 Felon in a BVR/Dogfight scenario? This is probably around my 27th mention about it out of technological curiosity between these jets
If one upgraded land based classic hornets like F/A-18A-C Aussie, Spanish, US Marines hornets (not highly stressed US Navy classics) with a centre barrell replacement along and the Super hornets block 3 radars, engines , ECM, ESM. Would that be a competitive 4.5 gen reasonable life fighter attack aircraft? with those engines it would give this aircraft superior maneuverability than either classic or super hornet. It is known the classic F/A-18A-C has more maneuverability than currant super hornet but the super hornet is superior to to the classic in everything other aspects range, weapons, networks etc.
Feel like I’m in training when I’m watching these clips. 😂
Hey GS love your vids allways makes my day better hope we will see some more a10 videos
Please do a video when there is a 3rd faction joining the fight and everyone fight till the last one standing, I would love to see what would you do 😮
Hey man can you show how to properly use air to ground attacks in some of these jets and how to use stealth?
GS, love your videos, makes me want to go out and buy a top-of-the-line PC and all the controllers for DCS. I’m curious how many hours total GS has into DCS. I bet it’s an insane number.
Tacwiew🎉 Aw Nice that you brought up the naval arena. I sure had my thoughts of how to be sneaky when theres nothing to hide at. Im reading the comments and guesing you decide your turning from their heading. Btw he should get the piano.
Yeaaah Tacview is back!
I havent watch it. But i love the F18 and i wish everybody a good day or night :)
I always thought the SU 30 would be heavier given it has a wizo but it kinda makes sense a naval variant of the flanker would be heavier
More F18! More tacview! N thanks for the content. Always top notch ;)
Good stuff!
Yay! tac-view is back!
Can you please give us a breakdown of your hud indicators on the Hornet
When that Battlefield Theme kicks in!
It would cool if you did the dogfight twice, like once for each plane because then we could see if it’s the plane or the pilot
Sorry if you’ve already mentioned this, but is there a reason you use the Legacy Hornet over the Super Hornet?
Hey man, nice vid! Do you have any experience operating the Apache helikopter? Would be cool to mayby see a collab with Cosmotv (the irl apache pilot)
This is what we, the civilian population has access to.. Imagine the wargaming the lads who live this experience. I remember sitting in a simulator in Kaneohe MCAS, Hawaii back in '95 and thinking it was the bees knees.

How are you keeping the two fleets from engaging you and the bandit?
Hey GS, I know this is an older vid but I’m hoping you or another reader can answer my question regarding TWS. Is there any advantage to a missile that has been launched in TWS if you then put the target in an STT lock after the missile has traveled towards the target? Will it track the target better once in a STT lock or does it not change the missile’s tracking at all if it was launched in TWS? Data link between the missile and the aircraft and what that means is hard to parse. I ask because I wonder if you could launch in TWS to get that element of surprise but then hard lock the target 🎯 nice the missile is close to going pitbull to get the benefits of both the TWS launch and the stronger tracking of the STT lock.
Why is one of the nozzles opened more than the other around the 11:45 mark, you using the good ol split thrust technique?
Gotta love the hornet
