I tend to focus on caffeine and coffee as my "this is the cause of all my anxiety" issue. It obviously increases sympathetic response which adds to my physical anxiety symptoms, but interestingly, I find that when I drink it, it sort of acts as avoidance behavior as it helps me get my focus off of anxious thoughts. So if I quit coffee, I quit an avoidance behavior, but I also avoid the sympathetic response and in turn feel less physically anxious. So it's sort of a catch 22. Any advice? I want to look at coffee/caffeine like a normal person and just drink it and forget about it.

Looking for a supplement, vitamins or changing your diet to overcome an anxiety problem is another symptom of anxiety it is just another manifestation of the problem. Sadly one that is exploited by supplement companies and people who should know better. Understand what problematic anxiety is, its a cognitive (thinking) disorder a mental health issue where you develop a disordered relationship with your thoughts and feelings when you experience the normal human anxiety response - you become scared and afraid of feeling anxiety itself, which then of course feeds it and makes it worse. Trying to get rid of it, or cure it will only make it worse and is completely unnecessary - learning that you do not need to be scared and if you let it be it will pass very quickly in its own because thats how we are built. If we see a tiger and feel anxious we can hide run, once we are away from the threat of the tiger anxiety goes down. However if we are afraid of our own bodies and thoughts we can’t ever get away from the threat because is us. So accepting and allowing the feelings, not trying to get rid of them, or push them away is the fix and anxiety will fade in the same way it does when we are away from the tiger. Our threat response goes down and our brains learn it is not a threat, just uncomfortable for a bit - its quite simple. However it flies in the face of all we would logically think to do, but with anxiety the paradox is doing the opposite is what works. Continually looking for something to fix you is how people can get stuck foe years - there is nothing to fix, only the mistaken belief that there is. As stated people might think taking a supplement helps, but its only the fact that they feel they are doing something positive and taking action that they feel better nothing to do with the actual supplements - this is why it never lasts.

Hey shaan, I sometimes get these OCD type of symptoms too, I just have to read everything perfectly every word to word and same goes when I am watching a movie I just get this urge to hear the dialogues and every sentence said carefully and perfectly, I have this fear of imperfection and it distresses me everytime I get something imperfect. I also start to think like hell about anything that I get my focus to sometimes, like I feel like that whatever that I heard or acknowledged just now, was this really true, I for no reason get doubtful and start to overthink about anything I hear or see or know sometimes for no reason. Is this also a symptom of my anxiety.

Most Dr's. Will tell you have a chemical imbalance or low serotonin levels or low gaba levels. I never believed in that theory. If that was the case it would be an easy fix. Unfortunately I've also tried many supplements with a little success. The problem with anxiety is the more you feed it the stronger it becomes, and sometimes these docs just feed it. Supplements and meds are just tools to help if needed. The only problem is some of them can be habit forming, have side effects, and you can build a tolerance. I struggle with this everyday. I suffer with anxiety, ocd, and mild depression. It's not fun... I've always kinda thought if yer anxious, depressed, etc there is usually a reason for it. Mine comes from too much stress...financially , all that crap goin these days, also came with the loss of 3 friends to suicide in the last few years, and 3 cheating ex girlfriends. I know why I feel the way I do. I'm wore the hell out! Now I'm just trying to heal. So I guess I'm not anti meds or supplements. ... if they can help I think its ok.

Sorry I had to disagree to some degree. What does not work for you may work for someone else. A supplement is not a quick fix but a systemic approach to improve your well being. Some ppl have too many stressors in their daily lives that they can’t manage from within, unless you start meditating which can somewhat help. Many ppl cannot find the balance of their true potential without a thought out approach which often includes supplements or even herbs. Most ppls anxiety is so crippling that it can manifest into physiological symptoms which for some are too much to bear without proper cognitive balance. A lot has to do with your environment and lifestyle.

No hunger all the time can be many things. . boredom so you eat, emotional eating to suppress feelings, anxiety can cause ulu to eat not because you're hungry but because eating DISTRACTS YOU FROM THE ANXIETY.... and also thyroid issues maybe. Thyroid tests can be done easy through the dr !! No worries . It's not terribly serious.

Not for me personally, anxiety totally kills my appetite, when I'm going through a period of bad anxiety I don't even want to look at food I can go days without eating and still feel absolutely no hunger at all.

Dear people blieve in you supplement atleast. You are on supplement because you can't really control all that. Here this guy is telling you to just control it (it's ok). You think you can control until a panic attack breaks in and there you done. TAkE yOuR SupPLeMeNTs 😊

My anxiety all started from pot, even after getting blood work, CT scan, and about to do MRI in 2 days. I keep thinking that something is wrong with my head. I do have a weird physical symptom that keeps my anxiety going , the pschoiatrist didn't know how to help me today, he just gave me Lexapro and I am afraid to start taking it . I have weird light sensitivity that started from the bad trip and I keep thinking that my head is damaged forever . It's been a tough 7 months for me so far
