Melusine will always be my number one. I look forward to taking her all throughout the lifespan of FGO's story and events.

The day they buff Barguest with a Guts or Dodge/Invincibility effect she will be tied with Heracles as the best solo unit.

I had both at NP1 and I will say I used Melusine way more than I ever used morgan, I think Melusine is better than morgan due to easily being able to use black grail, I somehow farmed a Nerofest with the final boss as saber in a 90+ node with a NP1 Melusine which is stupid.

Melusine, Morgan, Oberon and Koyanskaya of Light were true blessings in disguises for my account! I hope 2024 goes well for everyone in terms of health, and their rolls!

I got np5, Morgan and Melusine this year and can confirm at higher Np Levels Melusine doesn't care about class advantage outside of very high end content since half of obliterated is still dead, but ngl seeing big Ushi make the cut was pure joy cuz Ushi is life

This year was CRAZY! I started the year off by pulling NP3 Muramasa on 400 SQ. I saved a bunch of SQ for Koyanskaya, but pulled her early! I spent the rest on Oberon, but fell just short of pity, so I cracked open my wallet for the second time ever(other than for GSSRs). I pulled Morgan and Melusine both using just monthly tickets. I got Skadi, so I can finally start using my Quick units. I got every unit I was aiming for, many other units that I pulled for on a whim, and now I'm going into 2024 with more than a BILLION QP!

15:00 dude that’s seriously unlucky I’ve never ate 3 of the head chomps before and those both give ZERO np back and do way more. Also I don’t know if you pulled on the taigong banner but with just the 4 star CE I was able to do just fine, wished I got more ce’s cause that was some juicy bond

If my bond is any indication of my usage of character, Oberon is a whole 2 bond level above Koyanskaya, Oberon being at 9 and Koyan being at 7 (pre Tunguska) and Koyan at 9 and Oberon almost at 11 (post Tunguska). Oberon’s 3rd skill does have a buster buff up so yes, he works ideally with buster dps, but his damage amp is so stupidly high even outside of Buster dps that he just end up on any time. His 70% np charge also trivialize so much problem, be it having an easy finisher to CQ contest and setting up no plug suit farming or just general farming content. Even during the recent Tunguska raid, double Oberon just end up being a better option when compared to double Koyan or Oberon Koyan for buster team setup because Oberon’s damage amp goes so high. And this is just on my experience on NA. I think on JP is where I really felt the impact of Oberon with the inclusion of 90++ nodes, by in large due to the fact that I did not have Oberon for 2 years. Without Oberon, most of my Buster farming comp impossible to use into those 90++ nodes because for one, they can’t run Black grail so they weren’t able to dish out high numbers, and two due to how buster team quickly lose steam after 3 turns and their buff is gone, not being able to clear a stage after 3 turn usually quickly turn to a 7-9+ turn slogfest due to Koyan’s long CD. Quick became the go to with Arts being viable too since I can run support Oberon with those composition. Buster team comp is simply too rigid with KoyanLight being their only looping enabler and needing to run two of them at all times. Now owning an Oberon, 90++ became a lot easier to deal with. Quick and Arts teams got a noticeable increase in damage and Busters team became a lot more useable in farming and CQ. Simply put, and I think a lot of people forgot, Buster farming is so strong not only because of KoyanLight, but also the existence of Oberon. Without Oberon, Koyanlight needed Kscope more often than not when farming, if you set aside Arc. And on the topic of Arc, her incompatibility with Oberon is precisely why she fell from grace after her initial hype. On release, her ability to 3 turn loop so easily with KoyanLight all while carrying Black Grail made her seem like an incredibly strong character. However, without high NP and/or fighting Chaotic and/or Berserker enemy, Arc simply hit like a wet noodle due to her poor class typing. While her ability to run black grail does help her, her inability to work with Oberon made it so that her ability to run black grail is not pushed to its fullest potential. She was a perfect example of how impactful Oberon and how Oberon currently define the meta. If a character can be run with Oberon, their ranking are instantly top tier, but if they are completely incompatible with Oberon, they quickly fall out of favor. And there is also the discussion of NP level. If your account have high NP level servants, than Oberon’s usage is not that impactful, but if your account of mainly NP1, than Oberon’s massive damage amp becomes an almost must have if you want to reach high damage threshold. So personally, I rank Oberon above KoyanLight. There is just more use cases for Oberon than KoyanLight, since he isn’t just relegated to Buster team comps. Maybe if we are talking about pulling priorities, Koyan would rank above Oberon because she enables Buster looping, but since this discussion is on best character of 2023, I think Oberon’s position would be undoubtedly number 1 because of the noticeable difference is account strength between and Oberon havin account and an Oberonless having account, as an account without Oberon will struggle through a lot of the harder content of the game compared to an account with Oberon, the most noticeable and impactful being the 90++ farming.nodes

Morgan is also great for crits, she sometimes do more damage with the buster crit than her NP, her an Astraea are my core team and they clear everything and I don't even have Koyanskya yet.

I find it funny how they're balancing Morgan by having her not doing as much Damage as Arjuna while still being a CQ dominator that only won't work with Skadi and failed only against Buff Remover, yet they make Kukulkan who outrights Powercrept Koyan Dark in basically every ways

So I have a few things to say about the buster units on the list. I have both morgan and melusine, and just for comparisons sake Arjuna alter too. They differ in amount of investments however, as my Morgan is np 1 lvl 90 1k foud, Arjuna alter is np 2 lvl 100 1k foud with append 2 maxed, and my melusine is np 3 lvl 100 500 (lmao I ran out) foud, but with heavens feel and no black grail. Out of the three Morgan has the weakest damage by far, although I haven’t really had a chance to capitalize on her damage mod which might make her damage at least slightly more comparable to the others. AA does more damage on turns 1 and 2 than melusine (unless she’s farming against lancers or berserkers), but even when double stacking his skill 1 he loses out on turn 3 damage to melusine. That being said, the damage has been enough to effortlessly destroy every single 90+ node this year. Melusine can reach disgusting levels of damage on turn 3, and I have a suspicion that she will probably outdamage AA on turns 1 and 2 against neutral enemies once I get black grail. Not really agreeing or disagreeing with your list, I also think that Morgan’s greatest strength lies in cqs and specific teams (solemn spam), this was just my experience farming with all of them.

Why u need BG to farming on event,u can't 6 CE on event if u use BG? Can she do dmg another CE beside BG?

Blessed year for me. Got Koyanskaya, Oberon, Morgan (NP2), Melusine, and Muramasa (Sadly, just NP1) from this list. Hopefully 2024 is even kinder!

Melusine finally came home after all my hard work ranking up all my servants just to earn the quartz to pull for her.

It feels real good here with my NP5 Summer Kama.

I swear by Galatea as one of the best ST units in the game. Spamming NP drain with her easily loopable NP is good enough to make the case, but she also comes with like 3-4 other unbelievable utilities. One thing that also goes unnoticed is her stacking NP Strength, which makes her able to deliver an incredible final hit with Oberon and Black Grail -- that's potentially 180% NP Strength being doubled! Don't know why this unit is so universally slept on.

Reines has amazing compatibility with Gal. Throw her in after three turns of Double Castoria invul/100% Def Up, then she will give a replacement attack boost, NP Rate up, two more hits of invul and even class disadvantage nullification. You keep the Gal train rolling long enough for Castoria's cooldown to end. Perfect for stalling.@@ghostyuki-kfpinquisitor1038

I do not think morgan is better than melu since damage is not what we've should look when we look at melusine, we should look at "I can farm with ANY CE for lotto, QP, bond..." U can just run WO CE and u can STILL LOOP with a descent damage at NP2. Even with NP3 morgan, and knowing I use her a good amount of times in CQ by now, is just NOT FUN to stall, do no fking dmg and make u CQ last for an full hour Bc u're NP with 3 fking servants every single turn, and just one of 'em are actually doing damage.

Stalling may not be fun but it can do the job especially for people without np2-np5 op servant with their supports and MLB blackgrails. With morgan you can get more out of her outside of farming with her being a semi support that can give charge, np gain, and atk for the whole party. The best is not just the one with the strongest or broken dmg, the ones who can help the player the most is.

Add to this the third append on Melu that turns her neutral damage against lancers into a 1.5x class advantage -- say goodbye to any need for sabres.

You can farm but the damage will be greatly reduced. My melu np4 without blackgrail rarely does 100k damage on the second wave per target with bg lv 40 she does 170k. The only way to greatly increase her dmg is to uso bg to go over 90+

@@rosalyneminci2596 even so, if u started today and have to chose between Melu and Morgan I would say Melu. 100% bar in one skill, single and AOE dps (I used both instances during those last raids) and when u look at the future, when u will have no SQ to farm nor servants to lvl up, u will start to grind bond and then U'll think: "only if I could loop with all bonds CEs...". And now days, I don't see CQ being a huge challenge, look at the wiki, take the advantage class and trait then U'll be fine, no need for 45t stall 1h 47 mins CQ

I think also the fact that Melu is a good single target arts servant puts her above Morgan in terms of usefulness for me, the NP gain that she gets from her NP makes it pretty easy to NP again.

I’d say Oberon is the best servant this year over Koyan because he can be used in any team comp, he is THE 3rd support in any farming comp that you need to use plug suit in and he’s the only unit in the game that can provide 70% charge to another unit in the game, not to mention his 3rd skill is what caused 90++ nodes to be a thing and allows units to hit absurd wave 3 damage numbers, I get that koyan is her own system and she enables buster farming to thrive but she doesn’t push the damage ceiling and brake the game to the extent that Oberon does

​@@shironasama0445thing is, you just don't buster farm in JP. You do multicore. KoL hasn't seen relevance in 90++ at all, while Oberon/Castoria are the main staples.

im happy with my FGO NA 2023 as i have able to summon NP 1 Melusine, NP 2 Morgan, NP 1 Oberon, NP 1 Koyanskaya of Light...all of which are my priority servants this year

i think single targets have a real problem with how limited their use is. i really dont understand why people are obscessed with getting single targets when we have almost no content to even use them in. i love my dioscuri but i can never use them because there is no nodes for single target farming and lots of times CQs may not fit them. its a real problem i wish we had a ton more permanent events with permanent bosses or after every story chapter permanently reopen all the bosses

Morgan did not start the immortal comp. That goes to himiko, and I would argue that she does a better job then Morgan.

I really like how keshin sprite has the sphere and the sword, which remind me of her(him) from samurai warriors

I completely agree eith Oberon's performance by himself causing him to fall back to #2. I started JP over the summer, chose Waver as free SSR and got Oberon on his summer banner, but with no Skadi, Vitch or Castoria (finally did manage to get her eventually) he was good but all in all I prefered to take my Waver to most content. Yes waver had les charge but his skills are better all around utilities and all my non-welfare units are NP1 with skills at level 4 tops and no black grail - so Oberon is amplifying the damage of a wet noodle 😬

Even tho I agree Morgan is overall better than melu due to immortal team, BUT if I don’t have a buster aoe and you ask me to choose one between them for free I would go with melusine because she’s so much better than Morgan at farming. My np2 Morgan farm worse than my np1 melusine. And while being able to completely cheese 90% of CQ, those aren’t important at all, I could literally just ignore them or at worst use 1 or 2 sq on top of the CS to brute force my way through them

The Arjuna alter argument only works if Arjuna can land his debuff every time which is both his strength and biggest weakness. Challenge Quest and story content bosses especially are always able to block or counter his gimmick. Farming he's fine. But units like Morgan and even Raikou are able to out damage him because they are more likely to hit at least one or sometimes 2 of the extra damage mods with their NPs.

@@Truck-kun11 higher damage ceiling on its own doesn't mean much especially since farming doesn't really require much out of it either. And unless you are capable of making him win the long running fights which yes we are seeing a lot more of, his gimmick ultimately falls behind where unless he gets a power mod against earth, divine, or human enemies, he starts to lag behind compared to Morgan and Raikou. Raikou especially after she gets her NP charge upgrade. And it's not helped by the fact lost belt 7 made him and whatever other berserker units you have useless with the nuzlock gimmick that boss fight has going

@@aero6104because the trait she targets is the most common trait lol. That’s why she’s consistent. CQ always has servants with traits. You cannot deny a trait dmg like you can with Arjunas debuff but I believe his work on his cards too which is better.

At NP1, that's a bit hard in 90+ nodes. At the very least, it's hard to automate, with buster crits you should be able to do most nodes though.

Yeah she can with Oberon buffed Arash for the first wave. Damage might be a problem but if it's one 135~k enemy she can crit remaining 20~k hp down. Mine is np2 though. You can search up Morgan Black grail farming, and instead of using black grail use 6 CE.

Over on jp thiy year came out a lot of cool servant but none of them brings any new thing or any must have value. I will go for np5 Draco cus of the Beast class and the others are just bonuses if u get them.

I agree who's in the top 5, but I think the order should be Oberon, Koyanskaya, Melusine, Morgan, Summer Kama. Even though Oberon alone isn't enough you can slap him on an Arts or Quick team and he's going to perform just as well. His diversity of team comps I think makes him more valuable than Koyanskaya and I find myself using him more than her overall.

Sad that Muramasa didn't made it. In my opinion, he is better than Summer Kama mainly due to his buff-centric nature as its more reliable overall than debuff-based damage ups which has a chance to whiff, has access to a ramp up buff pre-NP that lasts for 3 turn, which is one of the most valuable, and dare say, the best offensive buff to have for an AoE DPS unit, and these factors all add up that makes him excellent in challenge quests. Him being both a great farmer (not the best I know, but he's still definitely high tier) and an excellent CQ DPS on top of having no direct competition in his own category (Arts AoE Sabers), it is why I put him above.

I don't understand why Japan would use him so much. I suggest koyan is better, subjectively, because of her cooldown reduction. Getting to use the farmer's skills twice in three rounds is more power, in theory, than Oberon provides.

Koyanskaya improves Buster units by allowing them to use their skills multiple times, which is needed for them to loop: Oberon improves every single team with 70% battery and a gigantic buff to NP damage that works on every single color. Overall, Oberon can support a lot more teams than Koyanskaya. And if you don't understand why JP uses him so much, just wait until 90++ nodes are added next summer: when you see enemies at near 1M HP in farming quests, you'll see how needed Oberon is to be able to clear them in a short time...

​@@eeriecode1628well saying that koyanskaya is better than oberon in 2023 is kinda true, koyanskaya enables buster reloading, her Cd reduction is great in farming and even better in CQs where she has pretty good uttility with her crit bomb, damage mod and charge down on Np. Meanwhile Oberon is only used in farming, he has 70% np charge and make any dps do infinitely more damage but that's it, he is crazy good don't get me wrong but for now whitout 90++ nodes and content that needs the damage he provides, his only uttility is making some units that couldn't reload with koyan only work, and help some run BG.

I would place Koyanskaya above Oberon due to the fact that she is 100% essential for Buster Looping, while outside of 90++ Oberon can be substituted for a variety of supports (Except for buster looping with servants that have 30% battery, but even then Koyanskaya is just as important)

For me Oberon is the premium support, the cherry on top of a great team whether it be buster, arts, or quick. It sucks to not have him but you can still use other supports. Koyan is just meta defining that getting her in your account is a big deal.
