The best moisture meter! and mail call.- 51
In this video I update the "wall of flame" with some new channel stickers, and review the TopTes Ts-630 moisture meter. I usually don't give such a firm recommendation on a product, but this meter has some great features. View the meter at this link:

Dick, that was one of the better TopTes Ts-630 reviews I've seen on a woodhound channel. I really appreciated the "Science" on how a moisture meter works, and I have leaned something new again. Thanks for another great video and like you say "Keep on moving".🎓👍

Dick, Thanks for the shout out!! I also have a Toptes, saw everyone going to them a few months ago and I had to see for myself, what all the fuss was about. I really like the color screen, helps me verify the numbers I’m looking at. Great detail in describing the moisture meter, best I’ve heard to date.

Hi Dick. I hope your Easter Holiday was great. Once again, another video from you that I learned something. your explanation was great. By the way, I still have an old Simpson 20 VOM (although not used ins 30 years or more). Kudo's to your Boss Dog's groomer as well. I keep looking to see when you top the 2K level. Have a great week.

@@oldguyfirewood One of my "guys" dropped theirs from about 15 feet up. It was junked, so I thought it might be worth salvaging and I sent it in for repair (don't remember where after all these years). I used it last about 12 years ago so I am not sure it would even work today, Dick.

@Old Guy Firewood I understand that completely. I'd like to add that I appreciate you going into how the meter works versus just showing it in us. The meter I currently use has a hardwood setting and a softwood setting, which is one of the reasons I chose it. Thanks again for sharing.
I have to tell you, Dick you did an amazing in depth review on that moisture meter. It definitely seems heads above the rest of the meter‘s out there. I love the fact that it has the background colours which immediately tell you if the wood is dry and ready to sell. 2 thumbs up !!

Hi obie. The General has always worked ok for me. I liked the calibration points in the top cover. The beefier probes on the TopTess plus the species selector simply make it a bit better.
Great video Dick. I’m still doing the way the old school guys taught me, fell when the sap is down, cut and split ✅and stack in a ventilated shelter for a year or so, too something about hearing them hit together. One thing for sure, that fisher stove will let you know if the wood is damp. Keep up the good videos. 👏🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

you should pack the stove with wood for long hot burn\

I do that at times. It throws a lot of heat.
Before you buy any meter check the reviews, not just the good reviews but the bad reviews. If you see a higher percentage of bad reviews you may want to steer clear of that purchase.

Good advice…
How does it know what kind of wood it is. It should be for any kind od wood
@oldguyfirewood
9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I don’t understand the electronics but some wood, like ash, are dry enough to burn with a slightly higher water content than say oak. The meter adjusts for that difference.
