Crafting in Albion is important because literally every single item, every single drop in the game is crafted by players. Next time you loot an item click on it and you'll see it was crafted by a player. It's done through the Black Market system in Caerleon, you sell your crafted items to the Black Market and it is then used as drops from mobs. A really unique and intuitive way to balance an ingame economy imo.

  • @TomDonnan

That's a cool loot system. How does it work if nobody is selling the items that the mob drops though, does it just drop nothing in that case?

  • @brewergamer

    @brewergamer

    5 ай бұрын

@@TomDonnan the black market always buys items from players, if no players are selling the item that is supposed to drop the buy price goes higher and higher until the order is filled. so you can craft and sell an item to it for millions potentially. EDIT: I will say it still will drop an item, just an alternative one.

If they really want to balance the economy they need to put a 1-2 plot limit for cities per account/IP. These cartels just bully any new player who tries to build a plot to sell whatever he is trying to sell. Plus some cities are all owned by 1 player at some extremes.

@@TomDonnanmob drops are the demand for black market. For exemple : If the game doesnt have enough tier 6.2 acceptable quality hellion jacket (an item in the drop table of some mobs) it's price will go up in the black market. Someone will notice and sell some before the game would actually drop the item. In summary (it's not quite exact) the answer to ur question is that the game has a bank of items and can go on debt by raising the black market buy orders. Anyway the truth is dropping a rare item dropping it's value in silver cuz 99% of the time ur selling it there's no such thing as dropping a cool new weapon and equipping it right away like a chad past a few dozen hours.

To answer your question about crafting in Albion, it does make a load of money for a small minority. If no one crafted, the crafting would make you tons of money. This is because of the city you mentioned at the end, Caerleon. There is something called the Black Market here. The Black Market is similar to the Auction house/GE that most people would be used to. But instead of another player buying the Two-Handed Axe you are selling, the game buys it. Then the game takes your Axe and puts it into the loot pool for the reward chests that you open in PVE or PVP content. This is because nearly every item in the game you interact with (with the exception of crafting materials and things like experience tomes), was crafted by a player and sold to the black market. So if everyone in the game stopped crafting and supplying the black market, the game would eventually run out of loot for dungeon rewards (and the Black Market buys things at the lowest offer that people post it for, so eventually it would start to offer two to three times the value of an item for someone to supply it). Moreover, gear is lost to other players on death in full loot PVP zones (red and black zones). There is a chance that gear "trashes" and becomes completely worthless and unrepairable. So crafters make sure there is a balance in the system of the loot supplied to PVE-ers and the money that the game provides for crafted gear.

OOOOOH!!! So that's why most of the time, some legendary chests (outside of Roads of Avalon) had loot worth of less than a million silver because selling T6~T8.4 items was way rarer (all because of how less crafters/gatherers play this game due to gankers tho-, which results in less items to craft and sell)

This whole comment is accurate, but misses the fundamental point: All gear, consumables, and mounts in the game are crafted by players (with some minor exceptions such as low tier tutorial stuff, donkeys, tomes of insight, and some others - where the exceptions do not impact player interactions at the mid-late game.) You cannot own a tier 4 bow if someone didn't craft it. You cannot own a horse, if someone did not raise it and saddle it, and you cannot drink a health potion if someone did not craft it. Gathering is foundational - without it, there will be no materials for crafting. Crafting is essential, without it there would be no tools of war for people to use to fight, and the rest of us who can't be farced with crafting because we're too interested in fighting are farming silver to pay those people for their work. Most players at endgame take up gathering professions, many will take two or three and focus on them, but more dedicated players will train up all of them because it is very easy to just grab a gatherer set from the bank and go grab some materials and in a quick hour or two make a few million silver. It's one of the fastest and easiest active methods for earning silver in the game, and since it's a full loot PvP game, it's quite possible to burn through a lot of it very quickly :P

Ya, I do feel like the premium price is kinda ridiculous, especially since it doesn't even really give you extra content, but once you get to a certain point, or if you get pretty good at the pvp it is actually pretty easy to fund you membership with in game currency. It definetly takes a while to get there (unless you have experience with similar style combat. I have played A LOT of LoL and the combat is somewhat similar to that so I feel like I picked up the combat pretty quick. If you get good at the combat you can stand to make a lot of money in corrupted dungeons, and it being 1 v 1, really comes down to your mechanics and skill. If you are less mechanically talented you can get a group together and gank people. It is very possible to pay for your membership entirely with in game money once you get rolling.

One of my best memories in this game is playing in a small guild fighting to place a hideout in the black zone and claim our right to live there. Its a good game, its well made, and you can tell the dev team cares, but its just not for me anymore and it sucks. I didnt think this would happen with a game I constantly talk positive about. Okay a player here with over 10.000+ hours in albion online (ex-player tbh). The game starts off great thats 100% true, looking back that was my best time it. To get your first cow mount, to get the first few hundred K silver, get your island and your crops going etc. But then it just gets worse and worse and worse. You cant play solo (if you looking for solo game, just look elsewhere), you are forced to cooperate with all kinds of stupid people or people who simply seeking their own gain and leave you to die. But lets say you get lucky and you find your second family over there. You are still going to be grinded down between two wheels. 1. You will be a small spec of dust with no power: You (your guild) dont own any high tier black zones, you dont own any safe land where you can safely farm up from high tier resources / dungeons etc; you will have absolutely no money or you will have to work for the same amount of money 10x more, and you will feed the big guys guilds with your corpses and loots day by day. 2. You will be a small spec of dust with almost no power: You (your guild) does own a high tier black zone, or own hideouts in influental zones. Now you can run around the high tier zone, watch how every resource is already farmed out, or being farmed out by your "teammates". If you get lucky or just have a ton of time, you can eventually find some high tier resources and farm them, trying to dodge rival guilds ganking squads to make it back to the HO, thinking to yourself that "ohh boy, this is nothing... you have to transport it all the way back to the main cities and how hard that will be". Ofc being part of the guild has its benefits as i described, but has its downsides: you have to go to CTA every day/multiple days a week. That means maxing out specs that you dont want for the team (like a job) and then come up multiple times a week to defend those aforementioned high tier zones from the enemy guild. How does this looks like? Well you wil have to follow your shotcaller that means running around in a zerg with 2fps around multiple black zones until you find the enemies (this can take hours) or the enemies decide to attack. Then you will be probably dead in the first few second or if you are lucky you can do that for 2+ more hours.

Got a bit burned from OSRS and tried a bit of Albion. It's fun at the start but the novelty wears off quickly. If you want to try out this game and do some pvm/pve, don't do it, this game it's focussed around pvp. Probably the best way to enjoy Albion is to play it with a group of friends or guild(with other people that want to do pvp). It's not a very good game to play as a solo player. Generally I want a world that feels lively(other players around) but want to play mostly solo. It's a sandbox pvp mmo, and most of my negative feedback has to do with me looking for a different type of game. So here we go: Once you've done a couple of dungeons, you have seem them all. There are limited amount of mob types. The map is not special, it's a just a bunch of squares linked togheter with no remarkable points of interest. You don't get the wow-factor that you get with other mmos when you discover a new big city. Speaking of cities in Albion, apart from aesthetics and crafting/refining bonusses they all feel like carbon-copies of eachother. Speaking of crafting/refining/gathering, if you don't have premium don't even bother, it will just result in losses. There is no point without premium. You can do stuff like the mists, so you don't encounter large groups. But you will encounter people with double your IP there, and even if you play it perfectly you will still lose because the other person out-gears you. Don't come in and expect it be a competitve environment with a level playing field. Don't come in and expect quests, meanining full gathering/craftging, pve. Only play this game if you like the combat system and like pvp.

Yeah, every profitable PVE are always littered with PVP. Which sucks, because people who hunt PVE group will always be a win since they only bring their PVP gears, and Albion are very punishing when it comes to switching items mid fight. World boss -> A lot of low tier gear rats that will mess up your pull Ava raid -> Gankers / divers that will follow you and fight, your death is a huge loss because you bring two set (PVE and PVP), their kills are always a win because they get two set. There are no other noticeable PVE in lethal zone, and even these in lethal zone only relies on "dont get caught / spotted by enemies" in the first place. Which is kind of dumb.

The crafting system in Albion is pretty much the backbone of the game. The items crafted by players are used to keep the games economy going and through caerleon's black market they become loot drops for mobs. Some servers like EU servers who dont have, for example, players with islands to craft mounts like the riding horse that server is out of luck and their markets or mobs won't be able to feed the need. This also means that prices fluctuate in a way that is very closeley similar to our real world economic systems. Its really just incredible.

Albion crafting system is such that you only make money if you use focus and fill journals while crafting, otherwise you will at best break even. Aside from having to have premium to really use focus, I actually like how it works because it forces you to specialize on just one crafting type, but one specific thing like if you do cooking, you will use your focus more efficiently if you max out specifically pies, then it’s like yeah you’re the pie guy in your city and every day you got your eyes on what pies are selling for, it’s like a stock market mini game.

There is a merchant in the towns that lets you roll for a bonus to items that you give him, usually ur already equipped gear, and u can make ur items more powerful without needing to craft higher tier gear. The idea behind crafting ties tightly to Black Market which you can only find in Caerleon. For every drop you get when killing mobs or opening chests, those drops are managed by the system. And Black Market npc is a market which is run by the system. You can't purchase stuffs from Black Market, you can only fill their demands and in return they pay you. So imagine yourself crafting 50 pieces of the same gear, cuz you want the crafting fame or something similar to that. No one is going to just buy all 50 of them. But with Black Market, you can fulfill around 10 pieces of their orders every 5-10 minutes. That's when crafting becomes very lucrative.

crafting it's only good if you invest in it first. And for properly do it, you have to travel into the full risk pvp zone to places that takes like 10 mins to get in. Because those maps gives more return rate.

As a OSRS (3yr) player that moved to Albion it was funny watching your vid. I know exactly how your transition was. Albion has it all, worse camera movement, jankyer traversal, boring grinds, more pay-2-lose. The faction warfare discords are hella fun. And the guild structure is more meaningful than OSRS. And the best thing, no questing and spacebar pounding......

Crafting in albion is the most important thing because without it, there would be no equippable items in the game. Every item you wear, besides the tier 1 items and tier 2 donkey the game gives you, was crafted by a player. The whole trading market is dictated all by players in each city's market, as well as the gold/silver market being influenced by the players as well. All this combines to create a true player driven sandbox world.

About Crafting: What is special about Albion as a Sandbox is that the whole economy is Player-driven, meaning that the game itself does not produce equipment (like armor or weapons) -> They are ALL player-crafted This is due to the Black Market (in Caerleon). When you loot an item out of a chest in a dungeon, you are not getting a game-generated item, but something that another player crafted and sold to the black market, which distributes those items throughout the world. (You can even see the crafter's name on the item) That is also how the system balances itself. The more players craft, the more loot there is and the less items are worth -> leading to people tending to do other content instead. If less people craft it, the value goes up, and loot becomes less, -> doing dungeons becomes less profitable and more players tend towards crafting again. Also what you mentioned about higher-level crafting: Most players don't craft every item they wear. Rather, they specialize in crafting certain items (which will in turn make it more efficient the higher your crafting spec is), they will buy-order the materials, craft en masse, and then sell it across different markets (which is also a thing because every city has a separate market) then they will buy whatever they need for themselves. Of course, there are many different ways to play the market, like Transporting between the cities, selling to the black market, manipulating market prices, investing into high-value items, but that would go into too much depth here What might still be worth mentioning: There are actually many players buying Premium with Silver, but it is hard to do for a new player. Investing and making money becomes easier the more you get to know the game, and the more silver you can spend on investments as well. There is no 1 way to make money though, everyone needs to find their own niche to profit from.

The importance of crafting in albion is, everything is made by players, literally everything In Caerleon you have the black market, with is basically: When a player opens a chest, there is a 10% chance you get a Sword, if the black market have a Sword, yey you get a sword, if not, you don't get a sword, but he increase the price of that sword in the Black Market, so you can sell the sword to the game so the next time a person drops a sword, he gets a sword, made by you :D So everytime you get something from a chest or a mob that item was crafted by a player in some point, also when you die in a Red or Black Zone, there is a chance your gear explodes, so that keeps the demand for new stuff all the time, specially the high level gear so people can win more in PvP In a nutshell, you can make money either selling directly to players in the central market of every city, or risking a bit and selling it to the game via the Black Market Is the best crafting system i ever seen in a mmo, not becouse the system perce, but all the games systems working together so in some point somebody have to craft the stuff people is using

Albion is like Tekken, sure there are alot of options, but you only really need to focus on a handful of them to be successful and have fun with the game. Btw about the mircrotransactions and premium, it used to cost 8 mil silver a couple of years ago. However, since players (really just a select few super elite players) are able to significantly shift the market, the last couple of years the price of gold-->silver has gone up dramatically.

I think you have pretty good comedic timing mate, and as an albion player i really enjoyed this video. Cheers! Edit: oh no, i dont think... P.S. the TLDR for crafting in albion is that its a balanced free market with a lot of opportunity for broken things to happen, since the market its also PvP, and new players definitely take a hit there.

Crafting at low levels also have a good profit margin, that helps you to prepare for crafting higher level items. However, it has a high risk involved, you would need to transfer low tier items to the black market and to sell at a high profit - the only way I see it is worth doing for a begginer crafter. Let alone buying instead of crafting low level 2-3 bags and selling at the black market would also highly profit you.
