The Best Midweight Cold Weather Jacket? | A-2 Deck Jacket Review

A-2 Deck Jacket Review.
The A-2 deck jacket may lack the extreme warmth of the popular N-1 deck jacket. And it may not have been pictured with icons like Paul Newman.
But just because it’s gone unnoticed by some doesn’t mean it can’t be the best choice for YOU.

Thanks man! For me it’s probably sufficient from a warmth standpoint…and I dig the somewhat refined vibes it has

I have a vintage A2 and I love it but also have the Iron hear A2 jacket which in my opinion blows away whatever reproductions are available. The build quality is just unmatched in my opinion.

Yeah I’ve heard similarly from other folks. Typical Iron Heart ie not built to match the vintage methods, but nicely overbuilt

@@DudsByDel yes I would agree .. it’s definitely overbuilt but also you will have it forever . I also have their N1 which is another greatly made piece . It’s a very addictive company once you start buying their products Lol 😆 but keep the great reviews coming 👍🏼

Thats a good looking jacket. I like that it doesnt have the "usn" writing unlike the n1

I was able to try an n1 today at a heritage shop In Colorado. They’re insane. Super heavy and overbuilt. Need one for my Michigan winters.

Nice video! Really appreciate the information that you provided. Would be helpful cause I’m looking for my first A-2 jacket recently. The price of a used vintage one in where I live is somewhere between 120-250, and the condition would not be as good as the one shown in the vid. Anyway I’m still excited and hope to find the perfect fit.

Thanks! Yeah I was happy to find this one. Some minor wear and a paint mark on one sleeve for around $100-120 or so. It was a few years back, so I know price and availability on the used market can fluctuate

I don’t own one but recently I was tempted by a new version released by Buzz Rickson’s, made from jungle cloth. I thought it looked much nicer than the classic sateen of the traditional versions. Still much prefer the N-1 but you know: gotta collect em all.

Hah yeah I get you. I’ll probably end up with an N1 just to for the sake of it 😅. And yeah, I do like how they make some different iterations to keep it interesting. The serge one from Iron Heart was pretty appealing. I liked the Camo one from Real McCoy even if it’s not to my personal taste I thought it looked good

Perhaps it’s not clear from the video. I only own one A-2, it’s the vintage one. Though I like the look of the iron heart ones!

I doubt an N1 will fly in Louisiana. I've tried one on, and it's hot. Amazing look, but way too much.

Yeah I have been restraining myself from getting one…it’s why I got what’s essentially an “N1” vest from freewheelers

@DudsByDel I'm thinking Bronson has one with cotton fleece, instead of wool or alpaca. I could be wrong on the manufacturer, but I know there's one out there.

The N1 is the perfect jacket for the NY NJ winters when the temps go into the single digits and below zero 🥶
