    Hey everyone. I was going to not say anything to see if anyone picked up on it, but it's bothering me so i'm just going to say it 😅 Anyone notice that the audio quality was poorer than usual? Sorry about that. I recorded this entire VO directly from my MacBook's mics (M1 Max). I was away from the studio and had to sit and record this in my friend's coat cupboard. I did bring a mic with me, but it was calibrated for a sound-dampened room and ended up sounding awful in the echoey cupboard. So I just tried the mics on my mac and...honestly I was quite impressed! It's not up to the standard i'm truly happy with, but as a one off, I reckon it wasn't bad! Anyway, let me know if you noticed!

    Anker has the neatest stuff. Makes you want to buy their stuff even if you don't need it. I don't understand why their products are geared toward the i phone though. I have the essential 20000 charger and the 65 watt series 7 fast charger so I'm set but I'm always on the lookout for more toys. Excellent and informative video, well done.

    The 622 powerbank is the most useful device. The only one where I dont mind it cant charge at the rate of over 7,5W due to its size and capacity. If it was a first party apple product and had support for reverse charging from the phone and if there was a way to use magsafe to charge the powerbank itself ( i assume the magnets repel if they are both meant to stick to the phone ) it would be basically perfect.

    Just realized a big flaw with pixel stand that's the same for 633, that indent might be good for Apple cables and typical C2C cables but there's many good quality braided cables that won't fit. Additionally they didn't offer a swivel mast to allow the 633 base to fold flat for laptop courier still shoulder bags. Again a drawback shared by other notable stands like pixel phone stand.

    Honestly, I don’t know. They’re designed to work with the MagSafe tech, communicate with the phone about charging to prevent overheating and other issues - I think you could run into problems if you try and force something that shouldn’t be compatible. It might technically attach and charge the phone, but I wouldn’t recommend you try it

  • @insidetechltd

    @insidetechltd

    9 ай бұрын

    Yes and yes. It's safe to do this, but you will impact your battery health charging on a wireless charger every night. They tend to create more heat, which is what degrades the battery. All forms of charging will have some sort of impact. It would be better than fast charging every night though! If you're going to do that then I would make use of charging optimisation on your iPhone to protect it as much as you can

  • @insidetechltd

    @insidetechltd

    9 ай бұрын

    Yes that's right. The best thing you can do, technically, is to use a very slow cable charger overnight. It's all about the adapter you plug it into (Apple's old 5 W charger would be good, but anything with a low power output like 5 W would be good). You have to weigh this up against convenience though. I don't want people to feel like they can't ever use fast or wireless charging. Those things are fun and convenient, and if you want to do it every night...go for it! Just remember you might need to get your battery replaced sooner than if you charge slowly with a cable 😊

    The issue with that is that every phone case is different. By testing the phones, it’s a fair test for every iPhone. All iPhone 12 and 13 models have the same magnets. But the cases don’t. I tested (and showed in the video) the accessories working with MagSafe cases though, and I tried a few that I personally own. I had no issues with them, but that’s really as far as I can test - I can’t test every single case!

  • @insidetechltd

    Yes exactly. Apple has to allow companies to utilise 15 W MagSafe charging. They give Belkin a license for this and sell their products directly through Apple’s stores. It was either too expensive or Apple simply didn’t allow Anker (and most other companies) to do the same

    @@insidetechltd But Belkin did get a license. How expensive can it be for probably some sort of another small certified chip in the gadget?! Apple certifies Lightning cables through their MFI program for a very long time now, to a lot of manufacturers... Usually MFI Lightning cables are like 5 bucks more expensive than a comparable ISB-C cables of the same length. I suppose that's the cost of licensing. Yet quite a few manufacturers release new gadgets only with MagSafe magnets, but no 15 W charging... Still mystery. Satechi, Native Union, Nomad have all recently released their charging solutions and all of them only have 7.5 W chargers for iPhone..

    They did get the license…and their equivalent charging stand is more expensive than Anker’s. It’s also not just about that though. Apple has always been a relatively closed ecosystem. They want you to buy their own products only. So why wouldn’t they keep 15 W charging to their own or just a handful of products that earn then the most money?

Lots of couples, would be nice to charge 2 phones at once here... + Be able to custom LED (not necessary, at all, therefore... 😙) Compatibility... Both the batteries should go on the stand... Not MagSafe - that's Apple only right now. But I wouldn't be surprised to see more phones start using magnetic charging too! Why do none of these produce 15w wireless charge? 😪

  • @insidetechltd

    @insidetechltd

    2 жыл бұрын

    Because Apple, basically. Apple will only unlock 15 W MagSafe charging to approved third parties. I expect it's quite expensive for third parties to do this and get the Apple endorsement (maybe Apple simply said no) and therefore they're restricted to 7.5 W maximum. On the plus, this usually means the cost is lower e.g. the Anker MagSafe powerbanks are cheaper than Apple's own one

    I think it's okay, because it tells people that they work with the MagSafe feature - that they're designed to work specifically with the magnets (vs regular Qi wireless chargers). People who are knowledgable enough/care enough to know about the limited charging speeds, about 'Made for MagSafe' wouldn't likely be confused by this
