The best M109R comfort mod didn't work

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I've been trying to find ways to make the M109R more comfortable. I do have the Ultimate comfort seat which extends rides a bit over the stock set up. My latest mod attempt was to install 2" Riser extensions which would pull the handle bars towards me by 2". I knew going in that the cables might be a bit stretched, but thought I'd give it a try since others have been successful. Didn't work out. So, gonna have to order new cables to make this set up work. There was also an option for 1" risers, but I went with the 2" since someone else around my height gave good words on it. Alas, I am defeated this round, but I will revisit this soon.

I feel your pain. Did risers, bags, Ultimate seat, bus a kit, gaffler breaks.....all to see what I really was doing is making a bagger. The risers helped...but in the end everything I needed was in the 116 Chieftain. Since I bought it...less than 250 miles on the 109. So she’s going to new owners soon. Get the backrest for the seat. Once your hands are back, you will want it. Good move on getting longer cables.

Get steel braided cables. Oh...you do need to reroute the clutch cable. It works but is not the best way to get it done. Have to cut the zip ties as well to give the extra space. I rode that way for half a summer then decided to get longer cables.

I know this is from years ago, but I did the same. To make it work for me I took that metal bracket apart where the cables attach to the frame and took a torch and tools to it. Then I moved some cables around and it worked. I was able to add the 2 inch risers without changing my cables. It's been years now since I've done it and it still works as if it was stock. Yes the ride is way better, at least in my opinion. More comfort and less back pain.

Bro, the M109R has obviously served his purpose, I feel you, because I just TRADED mine on a 2019 Roadglide Special 114 and aside from the obvious change from a street cruiser to a bagger the main thing I really noticed was the comfortable riding position, decreased wind resistance, all the creature comforts. I know you're about to jump on that Indian, once you do you will not look back I assure you, and your back, shoulders & spine will fall deeply back in love with you. I'm ready to see your upgrade video so you can share your thoughts, until then, Ride on & be safe!

Other than wind the 9 was more comfortable for me being all spread out. The Harley i had to stop every 100 miles to stretch. Though i did have my wife with me on the RGS. We'll see, I'm about to take the RGS on that trip again in a week or 2.

Two inches risers works but not safe cables to stretch out! One inch risers work for me really well, just had to reroute my throttle cables or break can't remember now its been a few years, but the reason for the aggressive riding position on the M109r is to break the wind, if you are seating straight up you will be in a parachute position taking all the wind un in your chest. Best is to install the SHORT VStream

You beautiful man, don't mess with handlebars. The result is bad unless you change all of the cables, hydraulic lines, and extend the wires causing problems later. Send your seat to Mean City and have it tailored to your butt. Best money you can spend. If a handle bar mod doesn't cost at least $2000 it will have issues. Edit: I don't like the cruiser seating position as a 42 year rider, but your bike is cool just as it is. Suzuki rarely gets that wrong. Ok, they never get that wrong. A new Indian will prove how badass your Suzuki really is.
