I feel bad for Robert. I had the privilege of meeting him 12 years ago when I was a Collector's Advisory Panel member. He was SO proud of the line, and had every reason to be as the quality back then was superb. Back then I collected most of the dolls, except the ballgowns. Over the past few years I have only bought a couple, mainly due to quality issues, and I'm not nuts about the articulated body. I'm going to be blunt here. This is the worst quality I have ever seen on a silkstone, and I have been collecting since 2000. I can only imagine how upset Robert must be to have this catastrophe be the line's last gasp.

I’m so happy for you! She definitely can’t achieve the same hair as the photos but it brushes out nice and gives it a more customizable look

I don’t get why mattel refuses to upgrade the quality on Collector level dolls... the stands are awful, the plastics shoes and the quality of the clothing in general. Compared to other collector quality dolls like Integrity or Mizi, they are so far behind.... and it’s sad, i love Barbie but with the quality I am more and more disappointed every time.... I honestly don’t mind paying a high price for a doll when I know I’m going to get something equal or better than the value.... these dolls are a dream (at least in the promo photos) I only own one because I was late discovering them ... I am glad I found your video because I was hesitant about this gorgeous Red Hair doll.. but since she is not much available anymore, I will pass even on ebay! Love your channel ❣️

For me this barbie is amazing! I have not found any defect that unfortunately you have found. Perfect and tailored clothes and accessories, I feared the worst. The hair, on the other hand, was a pleasant surprise, no hairspray, soft and with curls as in the photo. Just style the curls from the inside out and it will look exactly the same as the promotional photo.

I also hated the glue in the hair!!! Took me a lot of time to wash it and restyle it, even thought the lace bodysuit also didn’t fit the silkstone doll at least now the hair resembles much more the publicity

lol, he's so frustrated. I know how you feel. But, seriously like I was frustrated with one of the dolls because it did not look like how they advertised it. It was the original "twist n turn doll" and not only that it was a bitch to get her out of the box. Like, I understand that they try to make sure they are pristine in the package, but they make it to where it takes you 15 to 20 minutes to take it out of the box without damaging it.

Mine is shipping but it’s been sitting in Indiana for like a week now. I ordered the day she was released on the website and still don’t have her.

I couldn't get the snaps to close on the lace bodysuit, either. I did brush her hair out in order to give it more fullness. I had to press the saddle post into the base quite hard for it to secure itself.

OMG you got her! I just saw the promo pics the other day and couldn't wait to see a review ❤ Now that I'm watching it, it's kind of disappointing, the quality. I can't believe how bad the quality is! The older Silkstone gift sets were PHENOMENAL! She has a beautiful face, but the wardrobe just isn't it 😧 did you say she's only $100? That's incredibly inexpensive for a gift set Silkstone but the price reflects the quality in this case.

Great review, thank you for being brutally honest. Would the camisole top fit better if you rearranged the snaps? I have never liked those stupid Silkstone doll stands it seems that the doll is wobbly on that saddle. I think everyone was anticipating this doll to be fabulous since is was going to be the last gift set. Can’t wait to see what Suresh has to say about it.

Suresh probably won’t criticize anything. Since he entered Mattel’s PR List you can see that he’s afraid to say a lot. He BASHED collections like The Barbie Look (that compared to what we have nowadays are very nice quality), he bashed the newer Silkstones from 2017,2018... that still where lined, had jewelry, had snaps... He was really trying to call Mattel out for an Quality improvement. But nowadays he’s.... hmm... let’s just say him being defensive of Best In Black and collection full of velcro like BMR1959 says a lot. I don’t blame him, since he has moved on from barbie to IT in the last years.

Those aren't slingback shoes (a strap around the heel). They're spike-heeled pumps.

I have to say that was a fantastic review! So sympathetic to Mattel and Robert Best but he should have been involved with every single detail of these final dolls it’s really upsetting. I have longed for a gorgeous redhead silkstone! This is so sad. I recently bought the clothes without doll on eBay and thought I got them at a great price. But now I feel like that might not be the case.

Me too and it was a very rough year and it’s not over yet but you said it best! The promo photos don’t capture the sensational beauty and elegance and craftsmanship that a collector usually gets but this is heartbreaking. I so wish that even the clothes just had fit and had been lined. The hair is a huge disappointment and that poor girls face says it all!

Covid era quality

I'm glad I watched this!! No way this doll is worth the original retail $100 price tag, let alone the eBay exorbitant pricing. Metal clasp, lingerie that fit, and metal jewelry would have improved this set.

I doubt she’ll be added to retail. You’re very rarely see them sold out of the Internet and it’s usually at Barnes and Noble

My stand clicked. Get some Gorilla glue to make your stand stick. I opened the "S" hook to make the necklace work. They should have made the lace body top stretchy so it wouldn't break. I was trying to be careful but it separated. Argh@!!

I still want to get this doll, but the quality doesn't look anywhere near the photos. Is the hair even the same length as the promo photo? Barbie's quality overall has been on a serious decline. I guess since they don't expect you to unbox these dolls, therefore they think they can get away with cutting corners.

Really disappointing about the accessories and the hair. I have one on the way and I really want to research ways to make her hair look more like in the promo pics haha. I really think it's kind of dirty to take promo pics that are so much different from what ships. She still looks nice overall, though. It's just that thise pics make her look like a 10/10 doll when in reality she looks more like a 7/10 or an 8/10.

Companies have a good item, then they start changing it until it become crap and then they dump it. As for dolls, Integrity Toys FR dolls have improved since their beginning. Hopefully they'll keep it up. I don't have anywhere near as many as I would like. Not because of price. but because they're way too popular! They sell out so f*****g fast!

Has anyone else noticed that the quality of the Silkstones, especially the clothes, went downhill when Mattel changed from having them made in China to Indonesia? This Best Look set is appalling. Nothing fits properly. The hem of the bell skirt is uneven and having so many layers is just stupid. Don't get me started on the hair. Robert's sketches are so beautiful. It's such a shame the finished product is such a pale imitation of his designs.

The other I only bought for the outfit and put it on the only articulated Silkstone I have on display, Midnight Glamor Barbie. Luckily, the bodysuit wasn't too small for her the way yours was, but the hemline of the sheer skirt is terribly uneven.

I know what you mean. I catch some very entitled and haughty vibes from some doll collectors sometimes. Especially silkston collectors. Some older collectors seem to hate all the new ones just because they have joints and look for excuses to criticize them. Like, I felt that many of the complaints surrounding Best to a Tea and Best in Black weren't really warranted. However, this one looks so much different from those pics that popped up on the signature blog and her accessories just look bad. I think in this case it is fair to complain.

the problem is that Mattel is making fun of you, was Silkstone's cure something magnificent now? this is only a cost cut while maintaining the same sale price, the problem is not the designers but the costs, poor fabrics, little hair, few details and pixels also printed on the collection lines ... sorry, but I think the Integrity Toys dolls the perfect for collection and MGA for the playline lines is better! I hope nobody gets offended, I loved Barbie but Mattel has been destroying her for a long time, if you keep buying these dolls with low quality, mattel will never change #savebarbie #bringbarbieback #wearebarbiecustomers
