    The massive Kone MX20 at 10:38 reminds me of a favourite scene from a Sixties classic serial, maybe The Avengers or Time Tunnel where the whole living room in the baddies' home is a lift. If only I could remember rightly. As for China town 19:07... They haven't learnt the "soft power" of subtlely yet, have they, the Chinese state? I was trying to excuse the arrogance of putting mandarin text first above the native english by thinking that they read right to left and so on. But we both read top to bottom, so this is the presumably perfectly normal to them: there's lots of Chinese people here, we paid for it, we go first. Not just we Brits showing a bit of arrogance then, good. I wonder if it's the same situation in the Chinese funded tower blocks of the East London University just north of London City airport in the docklands. Apparently they kicked up a storm in a teacup when told that the height restrictions due to the proximity of the flight path were non-negotiable. Something about boys and pride in the size of your tool, no doubt.

    @Love Birds It wouldn't fall under copyright. Possibly could come under design rights, but it is too small scale for this, plus there is enough difference between it and Otis for it to be different. It has a very slightly different font. And the outer casing looks different. Also, ThyssenKrupp have a blue background indicator with a white segment display which also looks pretty similar.

    This very rarely happens. At the park hill flats I was very visible, and I was seen by the residents, but luckily they found it funny. With glass lifts with non glass doors, I have never been seen. People are not observant. As for shaftless lifts in Spain, I have been seen twice by people on holiday who just waved at me. But overall I get seen far less than you might think. The biggest risk of getting caught lift surfing is getting off the lift.

    @@benoliftsI am leaving Ostrava today. I went into the city hall which has a paternoster and a Výťahy Ostrava lift. I went to Bolt Tower, which is totally epic. It's on top of a blast furnace, so it naturally a long way up. • @benolifts

    @benolifts

    @@Finnstrains To be honest, I don't go in abandoned buildings that often. I find that the usual trashed abandoned building not very interesting. I only take interest in abandoned buildings if it is still mint, and does not look like it is abandoned or if the electricity is still on. Unless the abandoned building has something of significant interest (such as rare equipment still in tact) or has a lift to film, then it isn't worth going in or filming. There are some KZreadrs who's channel is nothing but trashed buildings, and they travel long distances across the country just to see very small scale crappy buildings. And they call this urbex, it is laughable. As for asbestos, it has to be being disturbed to be dangerous. Also, if there is wind blowing though the building it will blow it away. I have been in a couple of enclosed buildings where people have trashed them to the extent where the plaster board (usually 10% asbestos) was all over the floor, and walking through the building kicks up the dust. I left that building quickly and I dont plan to go in those sorts of buildings as it is dangerous and they are trashed beyond interest.
