    I'm really loving your stuff Bernardo. It would be great if you did a DVD series on some of these positions with these top level guys. You're at a level that you could explain and bring out the little important details that make techniques work not just on average guys but against world class opponents. This might be the next level of BJJ instructionals. Keep up this fantastic work. Oss

    As I study the best jiujitsu practitioners and how they teach different techniques and use them in competition, one of the most common concepts that keeps coming up is that if you are struggling in a particular position, changing your angle and your body‘s position relative to the other person’s will almost always create the openings you need. One of the best current examples of that is how Tainan Dalpra passes guard. He never gets stuck trying to force one position. He simply flows to a different one when the angle isn’t working.

    Help please: 4:30 what prevents Bernando rolling to his left, sweeping you by grabbing your belt with his right hand and rolling you both to his left side? You appear to be high off the mat with nothing posted on the mat on Bernando's left side so it looks like you are rollable to that side. Are you?

    It's called quarter guard.. and this pivot is useless against it.. you gotta slide out in the same direction as your opponents knees.. just as he said not to do.

    So what is he doing to kill the Knee-Shield?

  • @davidgoldsborough7557

    @davidgoldsborough7557

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think he is killing the knee shield when he grips his collar on the same side and just lifts him slightly. I believe the main purpose for grabbing the collar on the same side is it positions your elbow solidly in a place to keep the knee coming in for the knee shield. But...... I haven’t tried it quite yet on anyone but I’m gonna experiment tomorrow. Lol.

    hi what if they attack with a cross choke while doing the pass?

  • @TheGodfather101

    I'd say the bigger threat is the tension that can be created with the non DLR foot. the ENTRY of this pass 3:06 (where he cuts the angle to the knee slide), hinges on 1. maintaining the line between the lead shoulder and lead knee and 2. ability to use the collar grip to bring bernardos back slightly off the ground . if the guard player has a collar, than #1 is in jepeordy because a cross collar grip can disrupt the alignment of the lead shoulder relative to the lead knee, moving laterally like lucas does could result in you swallowing the mat, EVEN if you manage to get the foot off. If the guard player has a sleeve, then #2 is moot, because the guard player can create tension (equal and opposing force of pulling the sleeve and extending the non dlr leg) to prevent you getting his back off of the mat. If the guard can keep shoulder contact with the mat you cant cut the angle as hes solidified his distance control. I love lucas lepri, hes easily one of my favorites. the technique itself is sound. But hes also one of the strongest guys at his weight, so much so that he doesnt get disrupted by the stuff i just said. he feels no threat from tension that i would say the other 99 percent of grapplers might, so he adjusts hes engagement accordingly, if that makes sense. Sorry for the novel. Cheers!

    If your knee slide knee can touch the ground, you can use your other leg to kick free (or use it as a wedge) Theres probably plenty of kneeslide passes which shows this if u dont understand what i mean. God luck!
