The BEST kayak Load-Assist for a 4Runner and other SUV's/ How I load and unload my kayak

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I wanted to share this video to help anybody else that has had this same problem that I had when I first got a 4runner. There are spoiler rollers, but with an 80-100 pound kayak that isn't the best option. There are blankets and pads you can put on the sides and the back of your car, but I personally didn't want to put that much weight on those either. Then there is THIS way. The best way in my opinion. If you have a trailer hitch receiver, this is a great method. There are other trailer hitch load assist but at the moment they are either out of stock or very overpriced in my opinion. This T-Loader allows 350 pounds-more than enough for the sturdiest and one of the cheapest options.

The way I load my yak onto my Honda Passport is to first place the strap on the outside edge of the racks cinching it tightly between them. You can then load from the side. Just put the yak onto the strap and push it up and pivit onto one of the racks then move onto the other rack. Easy peasy. I'm tall so don't need the ladder but a step stool helps to roll it over once loaded. Mine is a 14.5 foot Mante Ray.

I’ve seen that method and it’s a decent way for a lot of the time, but I’ve found that at certain launch spots, I have to load the kayak from the back of the car-so I plan on loading from the back for most of the time. It’s just more convenient for me. I just like having the durability of this loader too since the weight capacity on the t-loader is 350 pounds. Using the straps on the side too is fine but I hate having to tighten them as much as it’s needed so that the kayak doesn’t touch the car. With my straps, I had to tighten them as much as I possibly could just trying to not scratch my car.

Thule wingbar evo 135 “53” with the Thule evo raised rail attachments! They clamp the wingbars right onto the 4Runner rack frames.
