Haha exactly! What a dumb thing to say. Similarly, if things are going smoothly, everything should be a "new record" of sorts. Stocks should ALWAYS be at an "all time high," home prices should always be "higher than ever before," incomes should always be "higher than they were last year" and so on. It's called linear progress. What would be truly notable is an actual exponential change, or a change in the rate of change...but not on paper (Apple famously shows misleading charts of the number of transistors for example...see the watch). There must be a monumental qualitative shift associated with a rate of change. Otherwise, please, everyone, stfu.

Aesthetically, I think they peaked with the iPhone 5. Of course, the 12 mini and 13 mini (which I’m typing this on), are a throwback to that form factor, but truthfully I’ve never wanted a phone more than when I wanted the iPhone 5. It was gorgeous.

Just like when they compare their new ARM chips to an "Intel PC", and the Intel PC is in fact an Intel Mac from 2019. The M-series chips are phenomenal, fast, and very efficient for their speed, but Apple acts like they've completely outclassed the X86 standard. Moore's law doesn't quite apply, but still holds somewhat true, and an M1 ultra from 2022 should be compared to an Intel chip from 2022, not one from 2019. Of course each iPhone is an improvement over the last. It's not like Apple would release a worse one each year. This isn't hyperbole, this is self-competition.

I know many iphone users (myself included) that are not interested in other systems, so they just want to know how better the new one is with respect to the old one and how it compares (this somewhat applies to mac too). This is true also for many Samsung users, that created a good loyalty for their customers.

I'm so glad they always mention this I tend to forget the old phones are weaker than the newer ones

i’m so glad someone did this because i’ve watched the last seven september keynotes and every single time i wait to hear it😂

The best color of any iPhone ever. I had an unexpected iPhone 7 Plus back in 2017 and it was my favorite phone mainly b/c of the color and portrait mode. Wish they would bring back Jet Black as a color option.

The last iPhone I've ever had was an iPhone 7, it was one of the best models they've ever made. It was black, of course. When they introduced the notch on the iPhone 10 I decided to give android a try since the notch really bothers me. Now it's been 6 years and I still haven't gone back, and they still have the ugly notch / "dynamic lens" or whatever

My favorite iPhone Design is 5/5S at that time they indruced Lightning too. Normally they change the Design every 3 Generation. They should really make the iPhone slimmer and lighter that would be a huge improvement.

I think their next iPhone might just be the most advanced and best iPhone that they have created

they could literally just increase the storage by 1 kilobyte with every new iphone and change nothing else and it still would technically be the best iphone they've ever made.

This is so nostalgic, I remember growing up and actually be excited for each year’s Apple event, back when they used to actually innovate. iPhone 6 with the bigger screen, iPhone 7 with no headphone jack, new redesigned haptic feedback and introduction of telephoto lens, iPhone X with the enormous screen at the time which shocked the world. After the X, Apple stopped innovating imo and people lost interest with each coming year.

I have an Iphone 12 Pro Max from 3 years ago with double the storage (256 GB) and honestly I'm having trouble finding a reason to upgrade. The 12 has 5G. The 15 isn't noticeably faster. It doesn't need to be, the 12 is as fast as you need it to be. I use the selfie camera much more than the 2.5x vs 5x back zoom camera. The titanium outer ring would get covered up by a case. Battery lasts all day. The glass hasn't been upgraded. The only real difference is a brighter, snappier screen and dynamic island and I'm not going to pay $1200 for that. It appears that other than screen, we've hit a wall in cell phone development.

It doesn't take much to market to people locked into a first party product ecosystem. Apple's diehard fans would buy anything with an Apple logo on it, regardless of what the product does or doesn't do. They make very simple, and basic phones meant to be sold to very simple and basic people.

Man ngl I wish Apple presentations were full of excitement as they were before. Those old IPhone events were something I actually waited and was excited about. Not now tho, like man I dont care if you can open a camera with a mute button or shit lol😂
