The Best Inline Skate For General Use

Спорт

Too much choice and too many 'categories' of skates can be overwhelming when you just want to buy an inline skate for general skating (recreational and leisure skating both outdoors or indoors).
Here's the most popular rollerblade for people who want to get skating but are overwhelmed by the unnecessary amount of choice. You're welcome.
Locoskates has the largest (most unnecessary?) range of skates in the UK.

The FRX was my first skate and I loved it! I have more skates now but I still use the rockered frame and the velcro strap on my FR1s. You can't go wrong with them. I still skate them too because they're still the most comfy skate I own. Also the FR laces are the best.

100% agree with comments about FR FRX. Bought a pair of FRX80 during COVID and a year later FRX310. They are so comfortable and responsive. I've skated over 1000kms in both pairs and the liner shows no sign of wearing out. It has packed down ever so slightly. You need to go up at least one full size in the FRX. My foot measures 280mm and 295 is a nice fit. Suggest replacing the stock laces with waxed ones and consider the model up with ratchet ankle buckle over the velcro strap. I bent the D ring on the velcro strap trying for a tight fit.

@@FeralSnarf It's perfect. They are so smooth and comfortable. I've already recommended them to a few people. I rockered them almost immediately and I can jump into reverse arabesques and all kinds of funky footwork. I do feel like getting the tongue situated properly and balancing the tightness evening along my foot requires an annoying amount of effort. I wish I could put them on faster, but once they are right they are really right. They have never given me any bruises or pain.

One thing to consider with a riveted frame skate like the PS Zoom: I know someone who got a pair that had a misaligned frame, so each skate's frame was positioned at a different angle. Obviously this is a manufacturing defect, but if you don't want to mess around with returns in the case of that happening, go for something with an adjustable frame. Also, I think they may have ordered from Amazon or something, so this isn't meant to reflect on Loco or any other skate shop - just something to consider!

Going on 35 I'd like to rebuild my knees and hips - is there a wide footbed and narrow ankle with flexibility?

I think it’s the shape and not the size, I had to stop after 30+ minutes of rollerblading because of either pain or numbness in my entire feet. After 2 years I decided to sell the twister and I bought the FRX80 minty. The FRX80 actually fit my feet shape better.

What roller skates would you recommend for someone who lives in a small country town with rough/bumpy chip and tar rodes? I prefer speed first, then comfort. Maybe consider the 3 wheeled version of the FR skates for bumpy roads: www.locoskates.com/products/fr-skates-frx-310?_pos=5&_sid=c4f75bee1&_ss=r Or, the Zoom 100 is a good option too (slightly smaller wheels than the 3 wheeled FR skates if you want a bit more control around town): www.locoskates.com/products/powerslide-zoom-black-100-skates?_pos=1&_psq=zoom+100&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Dude, you have summarized some thing I have ranted about for 10 years: the sport raged when you went in and bought blades that had a break and could optionally rocker and had four reasonably sized reasonably soft wheels. The only choice we made in the early days was will I have to tile laces or do they have three buckles? The entire sport has died because the skate that everybody should buy now has incredibly unsexy names like fitness and recreation. that is the barrier that has prevented a true resurgence where city parks routinely have groups of people skating through cones and pick up hockey games are all over the city

Both will be fine, although this would be a situation that it might have some advantage to pick the FR1 over the FRX because they have extruded aluminium frames (it's not that the 'cast' frames on the FRX would break, you will just get a better ride out of an extruded alu frame which flexes less). Additionally you will have to replace worn out wheels more often than a lighter skater but other than that there shouldn't be any issues at all. 🙂
