    Great video as usual...Just thought I'd add, Cardo is the only manufacture that once you have added people to your group in the app, they will automatically re-pair each time you turn on the device without having to touch any buttons or re-pair. All others on the market, unless they are factory paired need to be re-paired each time you turn the units on. That is a huge difference and a big reason why you should choose Cardo.

    That is a great piece of info that we weren't aware of, simply because we've been using Cardo for a long time and only had older Uclear's. We also love the fact we can plug these into battery packs when they start dying and still use them. Great technology! Cheers, Mike

    @@larrygermano Which Schubert System? They make several...and how many riders does it connect to by simply turning on the power and not touching another button? Shoei also has a integrated system by Sena and it does not automatically reconnect. Also, any system that integrates into a helmet has distinct disadvantages, primarily, you can't put it on other helmets you own. Unless you buy the helmet and the comm when the are brand new/first released, the tech in the comm will be outdated as manufactures will still sell that same helmet years after its released with the same comm, while new comms introduced during that time will have advanced. If your helmet gets damaged in any way, you either have to buy the same helmet for the comm or replace both. They are typically more expensive for what you get as they are produced in much smaller numbers than ones that can go on any helmet...etc etc.

If you use anymore then 3 units it constantly fails and disconnects and you get very frustrated restarting over and over combined with a range of maybe. 50-75 feet. There’s also versions of it like the cardo freecom 4x and the freecom 4 plus. And i have no clue on which one is better and what are the differences from one another.

  • @sledaddicz

    @sledaddicz

    8 ай бұрын

    Hey Brandon. Great question. In terms of the freecom the 4+ is just a newer version that uses the current bluetooth technology (5.2 vs. 4.0). That just means minor differences like maybe a bit clearer audio and slightly longer range. The packtalk edge's are significantly different from the freecom. The edge's are capable of connecting up to 15 riders while the freecom's can only connect up to 4. Additionally and most significantly, the edge's have dynamic mesh communication technology (DMC) in addition to bluetooth intercom while the freecom only has bluetooth. DMC is a superior intercom that has wider range, higher quality sound, and allows riders to leave and rejoin the group seamlessly without having to manually reconnect the intercom. Let me know if that helps! Cheers, Jesse

My first thought would to be to make sure you set up the speed dial contacts in the Cardo app on your phone. Your speed dial contacts that you made on your phone will not translate to the cardo. You have to manually enter it into the app. That being said, I usually just engage my assistant (google or siri) and say "call so and so..". Cheers, Jesse

    We've just found them to be more reliable. We had a few of the wired mics fail and I think its because they are resting against the helmet / mouth area where condensation builds. This is what ultimately I'm thinking causes them to fail. With the boom mic, you can install it so that its 'floating' off the helmet and not touching - therefore it doesn't get any moisture. Hope this helps. Cheers, Mike

  • @craigwarner2580

    I like the wired mic much better and mount it under the cheek cloth in the helmet. The boom mic gets in the way and also tends to activate too easily if you have a heavy breather in your group or someone riding with the modular up. Only issue we've had with the wired mic is if it gets a lot of water it will ruin it. Put it in a dryer location and it's the best solution.

    Can any communication brand switch to the same channel to be able to talk to people with other brands?

  • @edileo2112

    @edileo2112

    Жыл бұрын

    They don’t use “channels”, they are blue tooth. If you choose standard blue tooth, and not mesh, you can connect most communicators together. Most experts say that this is not optimal, but it can work. Always better if everyone is using the same brand.

  • @sledaddicz

    @sledaddicz

    As @edileo2112 said, with mesh - no. With regular bluetooth you can connect any brand but it gets a bit diluted - its most optimal to use mesh on the same communicators or at least same company with different models. Cheers, Jesse

    What is the main differences between uclear and the cardo?

  • @sledaddicz

    @sledaddicz

    Жыл бұрын

    A few things. 1) Intercom has to be initialized while cardo the intercom is always active unless you mute it. You listen to your music and when anyone in your group talks it lowers the volume of your music and when everyone stops talking the music goes right back up automatically. 2) the biggest difference for me is you can charge the cardo while riding, you cant do that with the uclears. We ride super long days so our cardos always die around 4 pm or so and we just keep them plugged in to a battery pack in the jacket and they will go forever. 3) The new premium gauge from skidoo is fully compatible with cardo (it was developed with it) but it has not been checked for full compatibility with uclear. @edileo2112

    Жыл бұрын

    @@BrockoM 3 hours is no problem. They are very clear. Range is another story. Like all comms, they are mainly used for motorcycle use where line of site is not an issue and you generally stay very close to one another. Sledding is a different animal as there are trees , up and down hills etc. Blue tooth is a line of site type of signal. If you loose sight or get more than 300 yards apart , you will lose connection. They will generally connect back up when you get close by one another , although occasionally they wont. You will have to cycle power to the cardos to get them to reconnect. This will happen once , maybe twice daily, when riding with my son. If you stay together , its a non issue. Bottom line is that they are not perfect or as wonderful as the addicts claim, but it is more fun and much safer to ride with them, then without. I highly recommend them. The other option is the chatterbox system. They use radio frequency which gives miles of range regardless of trees and hills. But their Vox is not good, have to push a button to activate them, and the clarity is not as good either. Its a trade off between the two systems. Once someone makes a radio frequency system with great Vox, I would but those in a heart beat. Wait and see.....

  • @craigwarner2580
    @craigwarner2580 Жыл бұрын

    I really like the Packtalk Bold, but the battery life is just not good for snowmobiling. At 5 degrees F going 80 mph, that's a -28 degrees F. I've asked Cardo why they don't make an RCA to USB charging adapter and have never got a response. With almost every helmet having a 12v RCA cord for the heated shield, it would be so simple to insert an RCA splitter and a 12v to USB charging adapter that could mount to the helmet or in a jacket pocket. Unfortunately, wouldn't work well on an Oxygen, but most other helmets it would. If they were smart they'd make an adapter for the magnetic attachment on the Oxygen and they'd have the market cornered. Our group has 7 Bold's and rarely gets more than 4 hours out of them on a cold day.
