    Shawn Ray once said that just standing there Paul Dillett was the greatest ever, I’d like to see a video to see if he was right? A front relaxed shot pitching Dillett against the greatest bodybuilders of all time. Paul did look absolutely awesome in the front “relaxed” shot.

    Paul looked great in all side and front shots. I saw his 93 rear lat spread and rear double. Amateurs would smoke him. Worst back poses since 93. He had a big back too, shame

    I never saw them competing against each other, or even Paul at his best, but in person it was really hard not to be blown away by Paul. Mad shoulder to waist ratio, thick pecs and back, big balanced legs and arms (comparing directly with a lot of the other dudes around 90-91).

    Awesome vid idea. Going into the video my mind already was thinking about 2009, 2013, 1999. I actually think 96 might edge out 99. Ronnie Coleman aside, 96 had a better Ray, Levrone, Nasser. They're close but I think when all 6 guys are factored in I'd probably give a slight edge to 96. 09 and 13 were just crazy line ups. Look how good everyone (aside from branch maybe) looks in the front double! I think from a judging standpoint 2013 is probably the best year, followed by 2009 then maybe 99.

    Ray off? 99 was probably Shawn Ray’s best year, ditto for Coleman and Cormier. Say what you want about Flex but many people regard his 99 Olympia as great. Flex himself said he was at his best in 99. Levrone was good in 99 but I think his pro tan was a bit too dark. 99 right up there with the best years ever. Only one who was really off was Nasser who didn’t deserve to be in the top 6.

    @@doublem1975x Compared to 92,93,94 and 96 ?Yes OFF. Wasnt even as good as 95 or 97 when he was really good( not insane tho). Ray himself said his prime was 92-97. Many noobs maybe. Flexs best was the 98 AC and 93 AC thats it. 99 he was soft asf and site enhanced as hell, and lucky to get 2nd on name alone. Levrone was good but not his best . And Cormier was sharper in 98, clearly.99 was just fuller( same for Ronnie).My friend who attended ALL mr Os 88-2019 told me this very thing and pics/vidz show it. Nasser was on the decline yes, but he was still huge and really good in some poses. While Priest was a bit sharper, he wasnt as big or imposing and was still new to the scene.

    @@TheLusianPopa I’d say Ray started declining in 2000-2001. 92-93 Ray was too bottom heavy quad dominant and even more narrow. 99 and 96 were the best versions of Shawn Ray imo. Yeah personally I think Flex’s best ever look was 98 AC/IM but many people, including ppl who were there liked his 99 look too. What good poses did Nasser have in 99? He looked horrible imo and massive decline from 6 months earlier at AC. Dexter, Lee and maybe Dillet should’ve placed ahead of him imo.

    @@doublem1975x I was referring to his level of conditioning. Not when he was the most balanced...A bb BEST version is almost always his best condition.Not his best phisique....thats why 99 isnt Ronnies best , despit ebeing his least flawed version( no gyno of 98, no distension of 01 asc) 99 wasnt much better than 98 .2001 he wasnt declining , he was UTTER CRAP.Placed on name alone.Even the Flex report said Dex and Melvin dominated him in comparisons ALL front poses still looked very good on nasser, side chest too. That was apparently enough to pip priest .Dillett? if Dillett looked like in 93-94 sure but he was on decline also. Dexter was on his debut and had a gallon of oil in his calves. You really think he was gonna make top 6 ? esp in that era one had to pay his dues

  • @doublem1975x

    @doublem1975x

    10 ай бұрын

    @@TheLusianPopa That isn’t true if you look back in history. Most people regard 95 Yates as the best version but it wasn’t his most dry conditioned version or most symmetrical or his biggest but rather all round best (muscularity, condition, symmetry). 91 Haney is considered best version but not as conditioned as say 87, ditto with Arnold whose best is almost universally considered 73-74 when he was at his heaviest and best shape not 71 when he was his most conditioned version. Conditioning is very important, yeah, but it’s not everything. Kamal would’ve beaten Andrew Jack at Texas pro last year if conditioning was the be all end all. It’s more subjective with Coleman because he brought a number of very different looks to the stage. If you think 98 is the best, that’s fine ,but just saying it’s the best simply because of condition is silly and isn’t supported by history. Rays decline started in 2000, ok happy? Lol 😝 2001 was downsized and off..but utter crap? I think that’s a bit harsh. Tbh he looked just about the same every single year, that was one of his biggest criticisms. Same boring slow R&B music dancing routine and same look. Upper body filled out a little bit by 95. Did Dorian have to pay his dues when he debuted at 2nd, did Flex? Did Kevin? Did Phil when he debuted at 3rd. That’s bs and u know it. Nasser looked like shit and had no business in the finals. Flex had escaline and pump n pose in all his muscles and it didn’t hurt his placings.

    @@notronex4349 People overestimate Phil and underestimate Ramy. The reason Phil managed to beat Ramy between 2013-2018 was due to much superior conditioning. Size wise Ramy always dwarfed Phil on stage. If conditioning would be close however (which 2020 Ramy is to 2013 Phil) Ramy would win. Jay even said this to Phil at the 13 Olympia that if Ramy nails it nobody is beating him in that lineup including Phil.

    I'm tired of this... Victor Martinez was a poster boy that lacks mass, 3d look, just basic development on mr Olympia level, like Phil, Kai, Jay... He was just looking nice and every one hating Jay, thats all. And the History proves it: Victor just disappeared. I know about jail, but nevertheless

    I always say Dorian ruined bodybuilding. And I stick by that. What I mean is , by coming in so big in 93 he forced everyone else to covet size and the biggest difference between then and now is the midsections. And we have Dorian to thank for that. This video illustrates what I mean very well.

    And ill flip your argument and say RONNIE destroyed pro bodybuilding Dorian in 93 was basically a flawless package-He was huge, he was complete, balanced and shredded beyond belief. Ronnie 98 had gyno, a poorly balanced lower body( never had calves) and a crap midsection. Yes even though in 98 -99 waist was small in terms of girth, his abs shape still sucked and the definition sucked just as bad. Dorian in 93 had a flat etched 6 pack abs while being 10 lb heavier than the 98 Coleman.Dorian had a relatively wide waist but thats genetics.Ronnie started his reign with a waist like Wheeler and ended it with a waist as WIDE as cutlers but far more distended than Dorians ever was.Yes FAR MORE DISTENDED. Ronnies gut in 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004 was appaling and a shame. And Ronnie also ruined the art of posing. During his reign hohum posing routines became acceptable. Dorians routines were far better, and he was always more cheered than Ronnie-footage shows it. During his reign glutes and distended guts became common place. Ronnies legacy is way worse than Dorians in that regard Also Ronnie turned bodybuilding into strictly a size sport. Dorian brought in huge size in 93 yes but he always came in shredded also.Ronnie in the 2000s sacrificed his symmetry and conditoining to come in heavy as a truck and full and watery, especially after the scares he had with Cutler 2001 and Gunter 2002. Yates always overdieted to some extent, Ronnie didnt, on the contrary. Ronnie was LUCKY to have genetically lean hams/glutes and because he got away with that everyone followed suit. So now you have tons of guys , just like Ronnie-striated glutes but washed out abs which is an oddity. If you want further ownage i can go on

    @@heisman987 i say the mass rule started with Haney...he was much larger than the rest of the top 6 in the 1980s Dorian was huge no doubt but you had guys that were heavier than him on stage, from 318 lb Ferrigno in 93, to 285 lb Nasser in 96, 280 lb JP Fux... Wheeler didnt start getting too big until after losing the Olympia to Ronnie in 98 Flex said he was 227 in the 98 mr O and then in 99 came in at 242-43 It is true that some judge , apparently told Flex , he needs more size to beat Yates....but Flex didnt actually start focusing on size until the loss to Ronnie in 98 Levrone was at his biggest around 96-99, around 250-55 ish, and he got fourth place every year then

    I have to disagree. Dorian was bigger, but he still had great shape and symmetry. Even Ronnie's first few years had that crazy shape and symmetry. Ronnie wasn't blown out in the mid section early on. It's everybody competing with their size that's the problem. Almost every body else was better being smaller and more conditioned.
