All these nifty features when most people would be happy if they 1. quit auto refreshing and blowing away the view and route, 2. show the damn street names, and 3. support Saved Routes.

Ditto, no obvious ways to navigate the app consistently. Always having to use trial & error method to bring up the app screens I want. Requires memorizing the sequence of taps vs intuitive obvious UI.

Why don't I have immersive views on Google Maps? "Immersive View isn't universally available, so you'll need to find a city that actually supports the feature before you can continue."

Great video. How about a tutorial on desktop use of Google Maps? Like creating a trip with multiple stops and being able to share the trip with certain contacts.

Hi, I just tried immersive view in the evening, and the lighting changes to twilight, but also it shows the night sky with the moon in the correct place and the right phase showing the new moon. Thanks for letting us know about this. Works fine on pixel 6a.

10 years ago, the Google Maps was better now . If you were doing a long journey, the screen was switching off until getting close to the next junction .

Thanks for the info.. Had couple of questions... How do we download the trip history post our travel. Also before travel how can we search for alternate routes available.

What version of Google maps is it? None of these work on mine in Australia.

In former days there was Google Latitude which gives you the possibility to share your location only by showing the city you're currently in. I then had many contacts on my map visible (as they were willing to share their location not by city and house but by town) and in two occasions I had make a spontaneous appointment with them. Too bad that Google still doesn't offer this. And if they do now, they probably will take it away soon (again).😕

Any idea why I don’t have the change engine type option? I’m on the latest release for IOS

Goggle Maps - Nice concept, perhaps one day it may be implemented.

I find if I search out a route and view the directions ahead of time, it remains in my device and can be used for the journey. No need to download the map for offline use taking up storage.

The tips concerning are not yet available on Europe? Just updated my Android, but still no extra buttons here.

THE WHEELCHAIR IS GREAT! I CARRY A HEAVY BAG AROUND AND CLIMBING STAIRS OR STEEP SLOPES IS NO FUN.

Hey Tasia, thanks for a great video, some great tips in there. I'm hoping you can help me with a Google map proble. I want to map out a walk I am doing. I'm planning on walking 12 miles a day. Is there a way to plot this on a "Google My Map?" I'm going to be walking for about 30 days so need to plot each day individually in a singel map. Can you help? Thank you in advance, Gx

Hey, yes I believe you can do what you're asking. Head to Google My Maps and click on 'create a new map'. Go to the top left and click "Untitled map." Give your map a name and description. You should be able to plot out or add your walking route. You would simply save each route as their own map (so title them appropriately). we need to have google maps truck configurable to prevent low bridges, truck prohibited routes or weight limits

The "change engine type" tip may only work in the US. I can't get in her in NZ. Maybe later in the year.

I think I know what you mean...I don't think so. You can see flight information, but I don't believe there's real-time tracking during the flight in Maps (assuming you have wifi). You can use Google to simply search the flight number and it'll tell you status :)

@@TasiaCustode the reason I ask is because I was sitting next a person who had his phone on and he could see exactly where we were flying from LA to El Paso. He tried to explain how he did that and I have never been able to do it. He did say that you have to download areas online then be able to use them off line. Make sense?

Question -- how to remove from the map restaurants, hotels, etc so that only the streets are shown? Too much distracting "busy" 😁 especially for download

I dont have immersive view button. Samsung S24 ultra. I have lasted Updated google maps, and UI.

I keep Here Maps on my phone as it allows you to download a state or entire country for offline.

I still don't know how to add many poi

I could care less about what Google thinks is the most economical route. I just want the map to get me there the fastest and not reroute me when I put in specific routes and POIs.

You should note that fuel efficiency setting is only available in US, Europe & Canada.

Never saw someone get so excited about an app before. She is easily entertained!
