I do wish the AI Hungary would pick the "core Austrian land" focus immediately after the referendum or completing the war, because the number of times I've seen the Hungarian AI just sit there with uncored Austrian land for a year or more is frustrating.

To give everyone an idea of how slow this is, Austria was done 6 months ago. We have only done 8 letters so far

I think the Austrian-Hungarians actually enabled the Germans during WW1 to start their tank-production. Because the Germans got the idea for the tank tracks from them. They needed to invite the Hungarian driver to teach them to drive with that, if I am not entirely wrong here.

yes austria already had a working tank in 1910, just look up Burstyn Motorgeschütz, the design was declined by the kaiser because war was supposed to be honorable, turns out he was wrong and ww1 was the least honorable war in history

@@thegreatestdane8978 yes they were the first to use it, because the Burstyn was never used. As I said the Austrian Kaiser declined because war is meant to be honorable. So when the Burstyn was declined it was never really built again.

Concerning the "What is that? Did the austrian build that, or the hungarian ?" at 2:50 about the WW1 tank, well... They didn't. It's the Motorgeschütz, a 1911-patented design for a vehicle based on a tractor with a turret designed by some random austrian dude which, naturally, was never built.

No the most confusing series of events is when Romania says no, but then the event chain bugs out, because they never tested or fixed it, and gives you the territory anyways. Love it.

What I find surprising, is if you're playing the Germans and Austria-Hungary forms, their AI is actually really useful (by hoi4 AI standards). They do naval invasions, make plenty of units, and go all over the world. Much better than the Hungarian AI. It's strange that each country has a "personality" in this game.

If you look through the history of Austria and Hungary after WW1 you’ll see that the reformation of Austro Hungary was heavily Hungarian based and in fact the Kingdom of Hungary is the remains of the old Empires government so realistically the only true reformation effort would be Hungarian based as the Austrian government draws legitimacy from the fall of the old empire.

Historically there were strong reformation of the empire movements in both Austria and Hungary. With the support of britian they almost reformed in the 30s due to popular support in both nations, Czecheslovak and yugoslavian pressure however ended those plans (both feared it would encourage pro-imperials in their own nations and undermine their governments), the British also made a few plans to reform it after ww2 aswell but were blocked again, this time by the Soviets.

@@matthiuskoenig3378 While true to an extent the Hungarian government was far more pro reformation as it would extend the power of their government where Austria would lose a lot of its own. Also when it came to actual attempts to reform Hungary had 2 and one almost succeeded Austria had 0 so the actual support in government was very low as compared to Hungary.

@@ariki9797 I was just adding to your point that the Hungarian government was more invested in the concept of restoring the empire than Austria, during the inter-war period. If the Empire had been restored, the Hungarian head of state would replace the Austrian one, technically making them the senior partner in the union.

When a country guarantes your independence and you Go to war with a country that is guaranteed by the sam country as you it cancels out so They are on the own

Iraq is pretty decent in Road to 56 The fascist tree is fun and gets you a lot of manpower to face the colonial powers so I recommend you play R56 instead of vanilla just so that you don't jump out of that window

Hungary with Synthetic Rubber is outright broken due to it's insane Aluminium production. Like, unironically - the planes make up for the lack of manpower.

Damn Admiral Horthy got quite the gift in this run lol.

On the RNG matter of the decisions, you can actually manipulate that to a fair degree with things like what your relations are with a country, by exerting diplomatic pressure via a spy, military power and at times the right timing. For instance Czechoslovakia would be more likely to give in if the Germans had claims on their land and you're exerting diplomatic pressure. So to an extent there's an extra behind the scenes arena one can some what manipulate as well now, which is useful for some countries.

The reason it's a big part of the Hungarian focus tree is because it was a last-minute deal to stop the Hungarians from ceding

One time I pulled the same France shenanigans against Romania, however the guarantee did not disappear so i was in a war with France and they also declared war on me and called in the allies

Could have taken Lothringia and Free County Burgundy, the Low Countries, Holstein and Silesia for yourself, since they all used to be Habsburg domain. For some it's border gore. For an EU IV player it looks just right.

Austria-Hungary is always fun. You build up really strong really fast. By 39 I had a domestic fighter program and was working on oil refinement.

It's actually useful to peacefully annex Austria, since you get a nice field marshal from them. Same with the Czechs.

The 'WW1 tank' icon is supposed to be the Burstyn motorgeschütz, a prototype plan for an early IFV by an austrian cavalry officer from 1907.

You made some pretty nice borders this time, good work.

The Czech decision is actually weighted by their opinion of you, same with Austria, so if you do the reintegrate the railroads focus (second industrial tree focus) and then use improve opinion you can pretty much guarantee both will accept full annexation from you. Still a tiny bit of RNG to it but the higher the opinion the more likely they just accept annex.

I think the reason why Hungary forms it and not Austria is beacause the leader of Hungary, Miklos Horthy, was an Austro-Hungarian admiral, while Austria at this point had cut basically all political ties with the former imperial crown.

For Italy, I recommend LVN: La Vittoria è Nostra! Massive fascist branch ending in either rebuilding the Roman Empire or forming a proper Italian Empire, anti-fascist branch allowing for either democratic or monarchist Italy and an entirely separate tree for Communist Italy. Also colonial Libya and East Africa trees, but those are... eh, they're only really there to make Italy's life easier.

The reasons why Hungary can reform the empire: -Horty was loyal to the Habsburgs and hungary had little problem with the kingdom .gov. form -The austrians choose to dethrone The Habsburgs and establish a democracy - Habsburg could have rule hungary if the french kept their promise to ensure hungary's safety if the empreror returns. The frogs choose the little entent instead - thHabsburgs are still present in Hungary to this day. Their time will come.
