Speedmaster 25th Anniversary was my first real entry into luxury watches. It was a wedding gift from my wife and I will keep it as long as I live. It looks great to this day for an almost 30 year old watch. Wife and I have have been together for almost 23 years. :)

Wife and I were in Miami last weekend and stopped by the Breitling boutique. Picked up a Superocean Herritage 42 with a green dial, and couldn’t be happier. Just now watching this video and I’m happy to learn it made the list. 😊
I just purchased the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 41mm. Love this watch! I get so many compliments and its classy and sporty all at the same time. I love the look.
Any luxury watch should be something you personally love and want and will wear. Not what other people want, love, and would wear. Biggest mistake I and many other watch lovers make or have made.

So true! In terms of wrist time, my top 3 watches are a sapphire sandwich Speedmaster, a Seiko Manta Ray King Turtle (JDM), and a Seiko Titanium MarineMaster 600 Spring Dive GMT. On the very rare occasion I have to wear a suit, I typically pair it with a Tag-Heuer Carrera Twin-Time on a leather strap. I suspect very few people have that combination of watches in their regular rotation. And I am good with that!

My first was an Aquis. Was blown away with the quality and bought another one. Then Tudor Black Bay. Then an omega aqua terra. Thinking about adding a Royal next.
Really enjoyed the video and appreciated the wrist shots. Many thanks. Take care and stay safe 👍🏼.
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean black 42mm on my 7.5in wrist is my favorite. Great wrist presence and a hefty weight if you like a heavier watch on the wrist. Outstanding quality meta certifications.
Picked up a ‘19 Speedy last week. Absolutely love it and will never get rid of it. Infinite number of looks as it goes well with any strap.
Hello Teddy, love watching ur videos. U do give out a lot of good advice on wat watches to buy and the help people out with wat their budget is.
My first luxury watch is the formex essence 39, after watching your video on it I immediatly fell in love with the green
Great selection Teddy! Thanks
Omega is the stand out for me. I’m saving for a Planet Ocean. Not sure if it will be the 39mm or the 43.5 size but I prefer the styling and bracelet over the Seamaster 300. Other watches I like are Glashutte Original’s Sea Q panorama date and Omega’s Speedmaster Racing. I’m really only wanting one stand out watch. The Planet Ocean is my first choice but if the right price could be had on the more expensive Glasshutte Original it might end up being the one. Everything about it says quality to me.

The price point of the definition of “luxury” continues to climb apparently. When did an Omega Seamaster or Speedy become an “entry level” piece? I’m sorry but very few people in the world are buying brands like AP, Vacheron, or Patek.

Bought a Hamilton for £500 - bloody brilliant, absolutely stunning, highly recommend. 3.5k is a dumb Goldilocks zone. £100 entry, £300 for a decent watch, £500-£1k absolute tops for entry luxury. Everything else is true luxury, or imo, flagrant luxury. No watch is worth £100k… it’s a fucking watch, not a house…
Watching this while only owning Casio feels weird. Alas, wonderful watches, great presentation and awesome close-up shots, these video are real ASMR! Keep it up Ted, ciao :)
Great video . Just bought a Cartier Santos large and between their system for changing out the bracelet and straps to sizing and removing links all without needing any tools as well as the classic history and look, it’s become by go to watch day and night . Adding the white dial Seamaster Diver 300M as my diver in the collection and that about covers it along with a few micro brands that do an excellent job for the money.

I’ve have become a fan of your channel, i always felt attracted (I’ve always been a fan of watches in general) to watches but until visiting your channel I didn’t know how big I was into this hobby
My top 3 (as a beginner collector): Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch Rolex Explorer Grand Seiko Snowflake Good to see these all on this video.
After watching your videos over the past few months its almost like every list and pick of yours is the same. Divers and omega with a tudor or 2. Throw in a Nomos every so often to keep us on our toes. So many watches out there in the world change it up and live a little haha
My first was an Omega Speedmaster 38 Orbis edition. I just got it and it's an absolute love.
Teddy hitting it outta the park as usual 🔥🔥🔥
I like my personal collection, midsize Omega Seamaster 300M (black ceramic coaxial) and my Rolex Datejust 36 in two tone (champagne dial with a smooth bezel and jubilee). I think my next watch will either be the Cartier Santos medium in steel or the Tudor Black Bay 36. But overall this was a really fun video to watch!
My 1st entry level luxury watch was Baume et Mercier Capeland. I originally planned to buy another more renowned luxury watch later, but 14 years later, I still can’t find a reason replace/upgrade this watch. It literally has been beaten to death at work and play. The bracelet shows it’s battle scars proudly , and it still keep great time. Even though my budget comfortably allows for 5-7k range I just keep wondering why at this point. I love the look to browse and when I go to purchase I feel like I am betraying my 1st love
Great video. I like the Omega seamaster. Looking forward to getting one for Father's day.
Your best possible answer to a ridiculous question Teddy. Good job.
I would choose the Breitling Super Ocean, the Omega Aqua Terra and the IWC Pilot Mark XVIII. Nice video, keep the good work my friend!
Teddy, I think you missed two important brands and watches that fit this category; the JLC Reverso and the Cartier Tank. These are two major time piece series that offer great first luxury options. They carry enormous historical chops, brand credentials, and can be had for less than $7k. Luxury watches don't just equate to divers.
@Joe-nh8eq
Жыл бұрын
The tank was my first luxury watch (and only one yet). I think there’s an interesting debate to be had though: Should your first luxury watch be something for special occasions? It’s very expensive, and you may not to want to wear it everywhere as it’s your first luxury watch. In that case the Tank and reverso are perfect. Or since you’re spending a lot of money on it, should your first luxury watch be something you wear all the time. A “beater” so to speak. In which case a dive watch is clearly your best pick. Love my tank but not going to wear it to work. Though it really is a tank. That thing is freaking durable (from what I understand). But my next luxury watch purchase is definitely going to be a dive or some sort of sport. Seamaster dive, aqua terra, oyster, explorer, sub etc.

Yep,…Cartier Tank!
Got an Omega SMP 300m Great White as my first proper luxury watch. Can't beat it.
My first luxury watch is an IWC Pilot - Le Petit Prince edition, for the sake of being a massive literature nerd. Absolutely love the watch, the proudest piece of my modest collection!
I could sell all my watches and be able to get a nice Seiko Springdrive, or Omega Seamaster, or sell about 8 to 10 of them and get a Tudor Black Bay but, I enjoy the 15 watches I now own so much I would be bored with just one watch, or even a couple of watches. When I disregard the brand names, I don't see the value in high priced watches. Great video and I'm sure many people will prefer to have that one expensive brand.
@brianmsahin
2 жыл бұрын
@Sixgunner dot org Of course, as I said everyone will be different, but a lot of this feeling of them being something special is psychological to a large extent, this effect is caused by the type of marketing used and human nature, one wants to feel that the watch they spent $5,000, $10,000 or whatever is better so it's easy to convince oneself. I was in the marketing business myself for high priced goods. There's equally good quality out there, but the perception adds up to a higher price that people are willing to pay. I read one watchmaker who said, the Rolex datejust is $2,000 watch with a $4,500 AD and marketing bill on top. Rolex mass produces more than a million watches a year and manages to convince people that, they're exclusive. I do admire the brilliant marketing and market manipulation to give the idea that a Rolex watch is a scarce commodity and difficult to get. The stuff we made was mass produced in Bangladesh and Vietnam, but we could sell them as exclusive products, even though the truth was different. Being in the game, I don't fall for it with anything I buy. I forget the brand, don't get blinded by the shiny marketing and look at the product itself. Whenever one really looks at a watch, or any other product and frees oneself from the perceptions produced by brilliant marketing, the shine can rub off to some extent. The watches you have are indeed excellent, a Breitling would definitely something I could love, in fact I'm looking at a couple now. Breitling pieces are available at very reasonable prices in the aftermarket. So I consider them a bargain if not paying retail. The Tag Heuer is also very reasonably priced in the aftermarket but it's not really my style.
My first expensive watch I got was Tag Heuer Link Calibre 36 about 15yrs ago…still works perfectly.. such a great movement

100% that money could be better used on paying down debt, investing it, or other similar avenues. But with that said you only live once. I think a Rolex DJ36 makes a good first luxury or one-and-done watch... more shiny than the Explorer but still appropriate for any situation, especially if you get a more toned down steel/domed/oyster combo... and easier to get at retail as well.

rolex was never and will never be a luxury watch, adding precious metal to a toolwatch does not make it luxury automaticaly, and frankly its belittleing to watchmakers that put in effort to be mentioned under the same term as a machine made assembly line overhyped toowatch.

@@chilldude3333 So I guess that rules out anything from Omega, Tudor, or Breitling as well. Where does "luxury" start in your mind? Are only dress watches allowed to be considered luxury?
I got the new seiko 10 bar chronograph with black scalloped back and a watch face covered in a stainless steel case and I love it. 150 bucks and it’s my first watch that I ever wanted to wear! One of many I hope. I love the channel btw. It feeds my new found watch flu!
Great video!! Great watches!!!
I think Longines makes some great first luxury watches. They're pricing is lower (in a lot of cases) than anything you had on this list and they're gorgeous watches. I think they often get overlooked.

The Longines Record is also overlooked. Makes a fabulous dress watch imo.

My first “luxury” watch was a Longines hydroconquest MSRP 1225 if I recall correctly. Really great watch. When held next to my newest purchase “omega Seamaster” it holds its weight.

Longines has very good collection Spirit. Both main watches (3-arrow, chronograph) are 100m, manufacture L888.4 (and L688.4 with column), 5 year warranty and well designed (satin on sides, polished everywhere).
